Television House of the Dragon (GoT Prequel) - No book spoilers allowed

It got me thinking, that marrying 14 year olds (not just in this fictional piece) was sorta accepted back ages ago. Imagine in 50-100 years, that the age is pushed and marrying a woman under 21 is seen as not good.

Anyway, random thought.I dont think Emilia is a bad actress. I thought she did really well with s8 despite the script and what was offered to her in latter seasons.

I would say that getting married when you’re under 21 is generally seen as a pretty bad idea right now.

It's easy for us to see who's who and what's what since we see with the eye of god.

If you only sees what he sees and hears It's not as clear cut
What I am saying is this character is supposed to be that way and the actor portrays it adequately.

It's a bit of a common misconception that people got married that early in the middle ages. For one thing, puberty generally came later. They definitely married earlier than today, but getting married at 14 was mostly just for nobility.

That was great. Closest to Game of Thrones season one so far.

Agree that Milly Alcock is brilliant and will be a huge miss.

It's a good show so far but looking on Reddit reminds me why I stopped following shows on there.

Majestic this, awe-inspiring that. Shut up.

Still, even if for nobility , then it was still a thing. Right?

Yeah I'm enjoying it quite a lot. We'll see how it goes once they start doing more fighting scenes, I haven't been too impressed so far (though the jousting wasn't bad).
I've liked the non CGI stuff so far in terms of duels and battles. Interested as you said when more fighting stuff happens as the first one wasn't good

Sure, to a certain extent. Building alliances and all that. In that sense it's not unrealistic at all.

I really didn't like the beach fight, but mostly for writing reasons. I guess it also didn't really give a proper sense of scale, like something like Hardhome or Blackwater. Though I think they're probably saving 'scale' for later.

The incest is one thing, but is that girl playing Rhaenyra not like 14 years old?
She's 22 but I fully take your point! She does look and act like a child (unsure what Rhaenyra's age is supposed to be), which made all the sex scenes a rather uncomfortable watch for me. Add that to the fact that she was going to do her uncle ... geez

Thought that one was a little boring.

Misses the multiple storylines and multiple main characters of GoT. And the humor. But it's decent enough, and something is going to happen surely.
Things are happening

It's hot, hot, hot!!!

Can't unsee this.

A lot of how well this season works as a whole will rest on how well the time shift works.

Dull episode I thought but then the overall story arc just doesn't seem to be that interesting to me compared to Game Of Thrones.

What it does have however particular in regards to Rings of Power is that the acting in this is pure quality by pretty much everyone in the show.

I though episode 3 was a step up again so I'm gradually enjoying it more. Not fussed about the implausibility of some of the big battle scene as I don't expect too much reality from fantasy popcorn. Still missing a Bron and Tyrion type interaction to lighten the mood a bit. And the lack of gratuitous nudity makes it a bit one paced outside the battel scenes. Although given the number of young princesses involved I can see why.

Who was the knight dude who grabbed the princess when she was running away? What was that interaction about?
She said Harwin, which would be Harwin Strong the brother of the club-footed guy. He was smiling in admiration when she marched into camp bloodied by the boar in the previous episode.
They seem to be giving us hints that we‘ll be seeing more of those guys in the future.

And does the morning after drink imply that her night guard got the princess knocked up?
Think it meant that the king did not believe that his daughter didn't sleep with someone
How I saw it. He didnt fully believe his daughter, but doesnt have full details (but a precaution to ensure shes not 'tainted' before marriage) Basically covering tracks right?

Isn't she kind of tainted permanently since somebody already slipped her a length?

This show is not realistic enough. Every time a couple copulate, it results in a pregnancy. I for one, would appreciate seeing the hundreds of attempts it can actually take before the sperm does it's thing

But a potential new partner doesnt need to know right? Pregnancy makes it a fact. Im guessing her just saying shes a virgin would be accepted.
