Hull City vs. Manchester United

I honestly cannot recall anything good from Young out there, that's not me on a witch-hunt, I just can't. Maybe somebody can enlighten me when the game's over.

Of course you didn't. You choose not to as per usual with Young haters.

Crappy start. Rooney has been carrying us for the last 30 min, which has helped us score 2 goals and make it even.

Even if we are "in control", we still struggle to create chances. We need to make some changes in the second half. Hull could easily score again, and we don't look threatening at all going forward, except when Rooney has the ball.

I think with wingers it's more about what you do right, i.e. create something, which neither did. Fair enough Valencia was pushed to right back but Januzaj was far more threatening than either, as usual.

Yeah he was good Januzaj, but it was Valencia's clever little ball that got us the free kick for the first, as much as the Belgian's movement. He also hit a good cross I thought Rooney would get on the end of

Young hasn't contributed anything major, but some of his crosses have been very teasing, his link up with Evra is fine and he's always got a shot on him.

Evans needs to sort himself out.

Thank goodness we hung on to Rooney in the summer.

Why doesn't Steve Harper drop down a level? He's been a substitute his whole career.

Shame Rafael is injured, you don't recover overnight from a groin strain. Hopefully Fabio will get his chance against Norwich but I can't see it.

Only a moron would complain about today's lineup considering our injury situation.
Only a moron would generalise and call anyone disagreeing with a team selection a moron.

Also young didn't really do anything wrong. You don't keep your spot at united by doing nothing wrong though, especially as a winger. He doesn't really look like threading or making a chance ever. Also kagawa is a far better player then young will ever be so it's an easy decision.

He's good but the caf really overrates him. He isn't top class, nor is he our best defender, nor do I see him ever getting on rio's or Vidic's level. He's our best after Vidic though.

Couldn't agree more. There is a reason why we have conceded so many goals this season. Its no coincidence that Evans is in the central defence all the time with Vidic and Rio out with injuries.

Ah come on, I gave him praise after his recent performances and defended him against those who still tried to slate him (Colin). I may not like the guy but I can still see when he does or doesn't play well.

There's nothing even in it for me here in slating him, Nani's injured, and I don't really care about Kagawa getting games on the left.

Smalling doesn't seem to know what he should be doing or who he should be marking on the corner.

Yeah, he's brilliant for 4-5 games in a row, makes one mistake and he needs to sort himself out. Yip.

Indeed. He's been our most consistent defender in a sea of over-rotational nonsense for 18 months yet is "subpar." Weird.

What the feck did Young and Valencia do wrong there? We could start by blaming the appalling defending early on.

fecking hell some of you know who you think will have a good game before it even starts
What the feck did they even do?

Anyway, delighted with our reaction. Keep this going and well win this.

Valencia has been ok, if a little foul-hungry.

We'll see with Young, I saw nothing in that half, but he's always capable of a goal so hopefully he can come up with something worthwhile.

Rooney knew that was in immediately after he struck it.

We need to open up and use the wing more in the second half. Fabio to come on for Young. Januzaj to the left. Would love to see Rooney dropping deep and dictate the game.

Young has been fine. Where's the critique for Darren Fletcher? He has been anonymous and given the ball away several times. Doesn't look ready for a start at all.

He's done all of his defensive work excellently and he's hit some very good balls into the box that have tested the defence. He's also linked up a lot of play with Rooney and Welbeck. If you didn't see any of that you're watching with a preconceived notion based on an agenda imo.

Bloody roller coaster first half.

Played some good football once we finally got going. So slow out the blocks tho.

Young and Valencia have the same problem, the defenders can show them one way and it completely nullifies any threat they pose. Getting another more two footed wide player in would be great.

Valencia contributed well. As I said the pass for the foul on Januzaj and a good movement down the right which ended with a wicked ball in I thought we could have done more with.

Same with Young. Linked up with Evra well, put in a few good crosses and generally looks like he can't be tackled.

Welbeck's done quite well out there in deep positions, wouldn't mind seeing him go to left wing with Hernandez coming on for Young.

Ah of course Fletch is going to be given some leeway and imo rightly so.

Can't really think of too much Young has done, but I don't think he's had great support from Evra. Valencia has been OK, a few nice bits of play on the right, one of which was the through ball the defender bought Januzaj down for.

Edit: Valencia has been lucky not be booked too.

Need to attack the right wing a lot more. Look shaky there and its our best chance. I don't mind seeing Young/Welbeck come off at some point for Kagawa or Hernandez.

Yeah and if he is quiet, we have options on the bench. Come on United!

Nothing daft about it. You can agree with the line up if you want or hold no opinion if you want but it's daft to say it's daft to disagree with something.

Also I never said starting Valencia or young us wrong. All I was saying was that one the finally gifted wide player must start. It can be Valencia Nani, young Nani, young Januzaj, whatver. But I'd always go with one of Kagawa, Nani or Januzaj. And haven't we looked a million times better with Januzaj on the right? It's a preference of mine but there's logic to it as well.

I think it's stupid to criticise the inclusion of Young in this game after he has scored 2 goals in the last two games knowing we have the most heavy fixture congestion of the season and have to rotate the squad to get through these three games. We can't play the same line up 3 times in 6 days, no top side ever does over the Christmas period. So yeah I thought your comment was daft.

As for changes. Fletcher is probably not going to be able to play out the 90 and Welbeck has reacted gingerly to the tackles from Davies and Bruce, so I would not be making whole sale changes now either.

Yup. I've said it a few times but he should not be our long term defensive starter.

Agreed. I think he does well as a squad player who comes in and contributes. However, no way should he be playing match after the match after match. Jones, Smalling and Rio should be the first choices to partner Vidic in defence.

I wouldn't bother arguing with him.

I want a winger to create something, he didn't create anything, that's their fecking job! Simple as that. Hopefully he can in the second half.

I'm pretty sure we'll see Carrick coming on for Fletcher at some point, which probably leaves us with one sub to spare.

You obviously don't bother reading someone's opinion before responding to an opinion he doesn't hold.

I've already said starting young wasn't the wrong decision given the uprise in his confidence.
