Well City have the best squad and the best manager.

We might aswell catch up on one isnt it? City didnt build a great squad because of Pep, they had a plan in place and I believe we can do that at United.

After spending 10 years not even in the CL system and having no world class players to shout about our future - I'd rather we build up our squad and our first team and let a manager take us on from when we are better built.

People will say that Ole is not a DOF but a manager - to me beggars cant be choosers over a club that doesnt even want to have a DOF.

If Ole wants a squad full of world class players and is able to get it - then I'd be shocked at people who want to stop that because we haven't won a title or looking good after 2 seasons and 3 transfer windows.

This is a guy who tried with the club for Sancho just last summer and didnt get him.

I'm happy we are able to have world class players in much positions we can - when we have gaps in our team that dont even have a single player in the right position never mind world class - I like to think I tone down my expectations.
 
Does anyone know when the FA will be giving out our 2020 Bruno Fernandez Premier league table medals?

Still surprised he has this many supporters. This run of form was coming. Even when we went on that winning streak we were dire for a lot of this games and it has finally caught up with us.

Once Bruno isn't on it, neither is united and that tells you everything about how poorly coached and reliant we are on one player.

Regardless of a top four finish (I am starting to believe we won't get that) he should be moved on and the board needs to get it's act together to get someone in who will rebuild properly.
 
Ole signed stamp and delivered these results first class the moment he came out with the club not challenging for the title despite being in pole position. He tried according to some to lessen the pressure on the players and it has done nothing but put the team in a state of neutrality to the extent that if performances don't pick up the manager is left jobless without top four end of the campaign.

Our league finish yet again looks like the dependability on the weakness of others.

I hated it but gave it a pass as long as the boys didn't go out and play accordingly. That press briefing was managing his job prospects when he should have been managing a title challenge

We were first for two weeks. Hardly being in a title race, that would suggest we were pushing City all the way.
Being top for a few weeks isn't being in a title race, had we been too with ten games to go then yes, definitely in a race.

This is a post typical of fan sentiment, Liverpool and Klopp have achieved more than City without having the squad depth they have. They reached a UCL final two seasons in a row with the first 11 consisting of Wjnaldum, Milner and Henderson. The best teams are not defined by how fancy a surname is on the back of a shirt, the best teams typically are accommodated by managers who give them a direction, a system, and an ethos which provides them the foundation to win games.

Pundits and the media have picked up on the fact that Solskjaer still hasn't been able to define this team an identity. There's absolutely nothing to suggest that once we have the best players in Europe he will all of a sudden become a treble winner. You should never wait for opportunities, you should be prepared that when it comes it can be capitalized upon. There's nothing absolutely nothing in Ole's management nor capabilities to suggest he is the manager that we will win silverware with. It doesn't mean he's a bad manager it's just clear for me personally that he has a ceiling and he's rubbing his hair on the heights of how far he can take the club forward.
 
He has such an annoyingly meek character. Like in the game just happened, when the ref blew the whistle at half time while his team was in middle of a counter attack, he should have stood up and laid it into the refs for their bs call. Instead he continued planting his ass cross-legged firmly in his seat. Or when Klopp went on his rant about our penalties, his response is smiling it off. Very nice! Any person easily intuits he lacks ambition and competitiveness. It's not a coincidence that the team he's putting together lacks that cutting edge which separates true champions from semis-dropouts.
 
Ole is an injury to Bruno away from the sack, biggest and best change he has made is signing Bruno.

Transfer windows alone won’t win titles, not at this club, for me the most fundamental and first stage of the rebuild is still missing. I can see Ole doing enough to survive for couple more years and that’s about it.

Again, I dont care.

Just because Klopp did stuff in 2 years doesnt mean every manager has to or will.

We are not the United of old, we are a United that needed a significant rebuild of a squad that is a mishmash of SAF, Moues, Van Gaal and Mourinho.

I'm happy to be patient and improve our squad before we sack Ole after that part of the building is done.

This is a guy who is selling shit like Rojo, lingard and Ashley young.

I mean you can be a fan that wants to stop that to bring another manager to go and win a title (there is these links to Bundesliga team managers that I respect but never won crap in their country but they can do it here whilst building a squad better for the next manager too apparently) - I'm not so blood thirsty. I've not been a supporter of us just for winning everything.

Klopp isnt every manager in world football - he is or was a rarity.
 
9 points from 21. Dropping points against those we should beat. It’s similar to our previous bad patches.

Ole won’t win everyone over by his continuous support of underperforming players. Maguire and Lindelof are awful together. Martial stinking up the left side means pushing Rashford over to the right where his form has no similarly dipped. Same question marks over de Gea and his overall starting XI.

I just fail to see a strong mentality from him. A good manager, but he isn’t bringing us the next level consistently. This falls back to him and the coaches.
 
We have an awful record this year against the big teams and it is extremely concerning that we have chelsea and city in our run of fixtures to come.

I think alot think that Ole has done some great turnaround job from when he took over but I would argue that he took over a team that finished 2nd place 6 months prior and that was having a bad season. That team wasn't terrible but it had lost confidence in it's manager who had to go.

Since then we've done alright, not great as many would believe but alright. We'll have to wait until the end of the season to judge but another 3rd-4th place finish with no trophy would again be an 'alright' season. No marked improvement over the previous manager.

Like I said I will wait until the end of season to judge but if things keep on going like they have recently then after 2 and a half years it would be hard to argue that there has been many areas of improvement.

I keep saying this. It seems like the Ole defence squad are absolutely hoping beyond hope that we just throw a feck tonne of money at this in the summer and hopefully he'll win something, just so they can say "I told you so".

I think it's quite possible that it could happen if we spend another £300m but I don't think Ole will be good enough to ever sustain a consistent winning team. It's even unclear if signing Grealish, Sancho, ST, CB and DM would get him over the line, which is what some are hoping/expecting. That team would be the best in the world, by far. So they're idiots if they think we should only judge once that sort of business has happened.

If we had those 3 players in our team, under Ole, the same posters that point to the Liverpool team would be ripping these players to shreds and saying Ole needs better. Hell, they have been on Henderson's back for years anyway.

I am willing to give him time but lets leave this apologies and all until he actually wins us something significant (i.e. League or CPL). Currently being second 7 points of City having played another game more.

This season reminds me of Jose 2nd season where we came second behind Pep side but everybody knew we needed significant investment or change.

We are at the same position again. At the end of the season evaluate him. If we are barely top 4 again scrapping like last season despite having a clear advantage and crashing out of Europa league and Fa-cup then its time to sack Ole.

If he gets us second and our point difference with City is under single digits with winning one of Fa-cup and Europa keep Ole for another season.
 
Hes got to win one of the cups this season for me.

The only reason he said we weren't is because he knew he wasn't good enough to keep us in one and 2 weeks after he said we weren't In it, low and behold we aren't.

We could be lucky to be in the top 4 in a few weeks if he doesn't sort it out. We've City and Chelsea in the next few games and we haven't against any of the "traditional" top 6 in open play this season.

Agreed. Nobody can say it with a straight face that we were not in the title race. We win these games we are seven point better and level on points. In fact i would go on to say that Arsenal draw was also disappointing. They had all their best players missing. We should have won against them.

Of course we should,.but managers have realised if they don't let us counter attack we are going to struggle to score against them. We struggle against the good teams and the shite teams and beat those ones caught in the middle of attacking and defending.

I've been already quiet on ole ever since he was appointed but it's just all boiled over now this past 2 3 weeks.

A title race would signify an actual contest, we went top for two weeks, hardly a contest.

It's clear that City as the best team in the league by a mile, mainly due to their strength in depth, which was one of the reasons I thought Chelsea would do so well. In this Covid impacted season any team that had strength in depth was always going to be in with a shout.
Leicester are the outliers here, however. The simple fact is we still don't have the strength in depth to match City, hence we go through peaks and relative lows due to who needs to play etc.
We have showed progress from last season, we just need to carry on til the end now.

You are discussing things that didn't happen, I'm discussing things that have happened.

Agreed.

Our target at the start of the season had to of been top three and a domestic trophy whilst having a good run in Europe.
We crashed out of Champions league, but we are definitely on course for the other two, and we could still do well in Europa.
The fact that we were even mentioned as possible title challengers shows progress.
 
Did we honestly think we were going to win the league this year? Honestly I was just happy to be challenging.

This team is clearly not good enough to win the league as it stands today, Pep/Klopp could not win the league with this group of players and so I think Ole is doing as well as can be expected.

Let’s not forget how big this rebuild was and the sheer amount of deadwood we had to move on,Ole has done a pretty decent job of that.

Throw in the Pandemic as well, that has certainly reduced our ability to add to the squad this year (as it has done for everyone).

We are clearly short of a few positions before we can realistically challenge, there isn’t a manager out there that can guarantee an improvement on our current position.

Patience is going to be key here, it might take a year or two from here to get where we want to be. We ARE making progress, let’s stick by Ole, at least we don’t have an Ego maniac at that helm unlike our previous post Fergie appointments.

Of course we aren't in one anymore because we got beat by Sheffield United drew to wba and let in a last min equaliser against Everton which is why everyone is so fecking angry but your happy for mediocrity.

this is what started this. Of course we were in a title race when we were first after 20 games played with 4 games against Sheffield United, wba, Everton and arsenal in our next 5. We were 100 percent in a race.

You realise this is a race over 38 games...
We were too for two weeks...that's the equivalent of being first in a marathon for less than a mile.
That's not being in a title race. Had we been in that same situation with ten games left then yes, we would be in a title race, but just being top for two weeks is far from that scenario.

Team quality now is undoubtedly better than what it was under our previous manager but our football and overall results have not progressed.

You just answered your own post :lol:. He has been backed better than all the managers post Fergie and still cant get a free flowing winning team. The players he has now he must have at least equal squad overall to Liverpool and Chelsea, maybe even City.
 
I marvel people still lie to themselves we were in a title race last term. We were never good enough last season. Our home form was shocking shit. People talking like we should have beat S.U and held on vs Everton at home are just being delusional. Nothing in our previous home matches till that point indicated we could. The ONLY game you could class as a disappointment was West Brom away. Winning it still wouldn't have kept us in any race neither
