Incident on London Bridge

Have any fatalities been reported?

I work in Vauxhall, these bastards have no shame at all... The deepest depths of hell will be waiting for them, I am sure.

This all started around 2 hours ago. Even by foot the distance to Vauxhall wouldn't be impossible.

It's infuriating how eager people are to be the bearers of bad news, even if it's only half cut rumours. There's always a weird rush to speculate about other potential follow up attacks in moments like this, that do nothing but create further panic and greater worry, often needlessly. It's like it's a film and they can't wait to tell people spoilers, or predict the twists. It doesn't help at all.

The rise of social media has certainly made these situations worse. It's an odd behaviour.

They're saying lets not jump to conclusions but it's hard not to after all that's happened over the last couple of years now. It's almost like we should accept this now but this can't go on, something has to be done, I don't know what but something needs to happen.
Reallistically some things are almost imposible to stop.

Bit of a distance away

Hopefully unrelated and not serious, though if the first incident happened at 22:10 then there's been a lot of time to get there.

I wouldn't read too much into the shooting, people like to create panic in these situations (heavens knows why) but I can't believe in London they would be able to smuggle guns into the country to be used on civilians.
shootings sound like police shooting at suspects

A friend of mines was on London Bridge at the time. Got away safely thankfully, described the attacker as 'dark skinned, red bomber jacket with a huge knife'.

Heavily armed police seen. Not the standard armed police or the counter terror police. These guys had some advanced weaponry i've never seen before.

He ran away from him or saw him in the distance?

That's what I was thinking, more than terrorists shooting at civilians, because if that were the case it would be horrific beyond belief.

Must've been awful. I'm glad your friend got away okay though mate.

From BBC:

Three men with '12 inch blades'

Posted at0:47

An eyewitness told LBC radio what he saw tonight.

The taxi driver said: "A van came from London Bridge itself, went between the traffic light system and rammed it towards the steps. It knocked loads of people down.

"Then three men got out with long blades, 12 inches long and went randomly along Borough High Street stabbing people at random."

So the driver was the guy with a massive knife? The one who went into the restaurant?

Good to hear your friend is ok.

I have a feeling the arrests and heightened police efforts following Manchester have spooked certain groups who have been plotting terror acts and accelerated their plans in fear of being thwarted. Hopefully the police will respond in kind and shut down the cells as quickly as they did in Manchester.
I think you're onto something here.

Expect something on election day too?

Police looking for three men - reports

The BBC's Nick Quraishi at the scene says he is now able to corroborate earlier reports of gunshots being fired.

Reports suggest it may have been more than one incident:

  • A van hitting people at London Bridge and three people then jumping out of the vehicle and attacking members of the public;

  • A separate incident at Borough Market

  • Police have now said they are responding to a third incident in Vauxhall
It is understood that police are looking for three suspects who may be armed.
