Incident on London Bridge

I think worshipping anyone is a bad idea. The deifying of anything always seems to lead to trouble.

Agree, but it doesn't stop there. Religion is just one of the social norms developed by humanity that is used to severely cloud critical thinking and lead us to irrational actions. We become partisan when talking about nations, political parties and so on. We tend to (in different degrees) follow lines of thinking rather than challenge everything and apply logic.

I personally feel that deep down humans are not free thinking. Our decision making is very heavily influenced by a number of factors whether it be our upbringing, our social circle, even our instincts and biological needs. It makes me wonder how many of the decisions we take our truly our own.

Right that link says Iraq practices then contradicts itself then says In some countries, such as Afghanistan and Iraq, stoning has been declared illegal by the state, but is practiced extra judicially. Check your sources.

Regarding the honour killing thing, you said it was a islamic problem when it's known problem in hindu and sikh communities too. This indicates its not tied to one religion and therefore more of a geographical/cultural issue.
No, it isn't. Just because something is illegal on paper doesn't mean it is enforced. About the honor killing, you said it was only practiced in Asia. I proved it's not.

But it's better to just drop this, there is absolutely no point to continue.

Seems like it. dont understand why members aren't threadbanned during an event like this. I don't want to know what random Caftards think about religion, I want to know what the feck is going on.

We get better moderation in the fecking tweet thread. Pathetic.

Well said. Please stop.

I'm surprised the mod / admin team haven't done anything.

Now changing the goalposts. OK Yes I will drop it. But i wish to correct you on one thing, I never said it's only practiced in Asia. You can pm me if you want and we can take this discussion further and I can clear your misconceptions.

We've gotten rid of one poster. Anyone else you'd like seen moderated ?

Judging by these reports of multiple controlled explosions it seems like a big part of the terrorists plan failed and the stabbings was more of a plan B.

To be fair there's far better places to collect information on this than a football forum mate. News outlets, Twitter, Reddit are all ablaze.

Here's a reddit live page that gathers many sources together.

Going for the Shard potentially? Pure speculation of course but it's a huge landmark right there..

Seriously speaking what do you guys want us to do? Tell me how I as a Muslim can help.
Give me some advice. I usually only get into conversations with people at work or in the pub. I want to engage with muslims in my area. I don't work with any and they don't go to the pub.

That's the one I heard. I'm one bridge down at Tower Bridge and heard that one pretty clear.

There's no way anyone managed to get anyway near The Shard right now. The whole surrounding area of London Bridge and Borough Market is flooded by Police and roads are blocked. It must have been a controlled explosion.

I just can't get my head around why a current events thread that is still fluid, turns into a religious argument.

Because people are upset and angry. Nothing has been reported in this thread which suggests that nothing that bad has been said. We will threadban or more if required but so far I'd say this thread has been self moderating quite well. If possible it is better that emotive, badly thought out posts are challenged and reasoned with IMO.

Pretty much my sentiments exactly.

Meh, can't really agree with this. Even though not every Muslim is a terrorist obviously, many of them actually support these attacks, a large part of them even though they do not support said attacks, agree with the reasoning. I mean you do not have to be a terrorist to be a problem, closing your eyes is just as bad.

Do you have proof of this?

If not, it's an incredibly dangerous and, frankly, ridiculous thing to say.

I meant that they could have originally been targeting the Shard with these huge explosives but fecked it up somehow

If I wanted a religious discussion, wouldn't I go into the religious discussion thread? The same thing happened in the Manchester Arena thread too. I just want to know what has happened. Not trawl through walls of religious discussion text.

There is no good way of going about making friends with people of other race and ethnicity. You can't get advice from the internet on how to engage people in conversation on sensitive topics like these. All depends on the people you interact with. Some may be open to talking, others think that you are a douchebag due to their previous experience. Not trying to discourage you, I know this because I'm an immigrant myself and I normally have to participate in some very cringe-inducing conversation in my local church. All the best

One thing is for sure, if there are still suspects at large as being reported by SKY and BBC then they were 100% caught on CCTV. Hopefully the police will know who they are and it wont be long before the photo's are being circulated and the public can be informed.

I wonder how the guys sprint past him and yet he's able to identify their religious orientation...
He said they were saying "this is for Allah" whilst stabbing people.

We have threadbanned the only person we have noticed getting close to crossing the line despite nobody reporting his posts.

Since this is Muslim terrorism I can't see how or why it souldn't be discussed/mentioned and as long as it is conducted in a manner within the rules.

Anyway, this just make me so incredibly sad. These "people" are barbaric scumbags
Yes!

The perpetrators are religiously, politically, and morally bankrupt.

We got rid of the posters who wanted to talk religion in both threads.

This is extremist terrorism, not Muslim terrorism, just as IRA bombings were extremist terrorism, not Christian terrorism.

I think maybe you need to rethink your post a little!

Any ideas as to casualties? It seems that almost every witeness that has dialled in to a radio station claims to have seen a body or two.
