Incident on London Bridge

I was waiting for some news service in the US to post pictures of Tower Bridge.
Common enough mistake mind you, for those that are outside the UK.
I don't get down that London much, Mr.

"Enough is enough means enough is enough"

I didn't want to pick up on it at the time, but it's such a weak statement. Every grown sane adult in the UK and abroad knew it was enough after the first attack, let alone after the horrible attack 2 weeks ago. "Enough is enough" is implying she knew what she could do against it before the latest, but decided that it took another attack before reacting.

I'm certain that isn't what she meant, but i'm not certain she meant anything with it either to be honest.

Stop or I'll say stop again.

Or worse do something pointless that looks tough.

She just wants to imply she's willing to do the sort of things those in our country who enjoy Trump's anti-Islamic rhetoric want - without actually saying anything that reprehensible.

How is he now bud, and just wondering are they describing him correctly as a martial arts expert, not that it matters but you hear these things and sometimes they're just bs, if you know what I mean.
Not heard anything tbh. I'm curious about the martial arts thing too. As I said, he's someone I know from chatting at industry events over the years- mainly talking shop, random crap or about United.

ISIS claiming responsibility for everything now.
Notice how they never release the names until the police does.

I suspect this is to make ISIS appear bigger and more powerful than they actually are.

Absolute bunch of scumbags.

ISIS claiming responsibility for everything now.
Notice how they never release the names until the police does.
Might have been on here, but I read that they see anyone who's inspired by their ideology as a member. Even if someone has not been in touch with anyone from ISIS, if their actions have come about even if just in part of ISIS beliefs they will claim it.

It does put to bed any thought that ISIS have been coordinating all attacks. (Not sure anyone even thinks this anyway given how they claim everything)

One of the bombers was filmed in a documentary last year related to British jihadists and the group he was filmed with had a ISIS flag on display.

Yep, the Channel 4 Jihadis Next Door documentary it was.

Watched it a few months ago, it's on Netflix. More of Anjem Choudary's mates of al-Muhajirun.

looks like they've done the sensible thing. But plenty of other areas where car attacks can take place.

I think very sensible and would expect to see these types of measures taken across all city centers/highly pedestrianized areas. Makes sense in general not only because of terror related threats.

They do seem like a crush risk for cyclists though.

5 bullets each is quite understandable under the circumstances. They not only had to kill them quickly but also make absolutely sure they were dead before they could detonate their suicide vests and potentially kill/injure so many more people.
Rather gruesomely, listening to 5live last night when I should have been sleeping, an expert in this sort of thing they interviewed said the aim, in suicide bomber situations, is to go for the back of the neck - often directly through the mouth - so as to sever the brain-stem and bring about instant total paralysis. Not the lullaby I should have preferred....

Trump's latest comments make me so angry. Exploiting the incideng to attack our Mayor because he's a Muslim. The absolute cuntbucket.

I doubt he evens knows he's exploiting them. He probably sees his supporters tweeting him about those comments, and just piggy backs off of it.

What a joke that one of these attackers was on a Channel 4 documentary called "Jihadi's next door". It would be funny if it wasn't so fecking tragic. There are clips up online supposedly of him in Regents Park and about 5-6 others, waving an ISIS Flag. That alone should be enough to lock them up.

Agreed, there should be (and should always have been) a zero tolerance attitude to any affiliation with ISIS (or any 'group' of that nature).

It is a choice to affiliate with X group, if you make that choice you should be arrested. If it is a terrorist group you are affiliating with you should be treated as a potential terrorist.

They don't realise how good they have it in this country. Benefits, housing, even police protection at their demo's. Surely they've taken advantage of us for long enough now.

I don't like May, but Labour are nonsense.

More police won't stop these attacks. If someone decides to get in a van or go out stabbing people there is very little any amount of police can do to stop that.

Whilst that isn't to say too much has been cut out on police, isn't the same being said about the NHS and benefits and well everything and yet still the government deficit is growing and that just means a spiralling lack of control over interest payments, which means money to interest not to services.

Tougher controls over those linked to terrorism needs to be taken. If someone is known to intelligence services maybe it should be questioned if that is enough. Laws need to make it enough. There should be no free speech for extremists and those that follow them.

Corbyn is weak, he is definitely not a leader to make a difference. Not here, abroad or with Brexit. He can't balance a budget, he can't take tough measures. All he can do is make people vote based on false promises and badly calculated spending to be paid out of thin air.
Edit: wrong thread for this really. Thought was in GE thread. I'll shut up.

The current Labour manifesto has the most detailed costings of any manifesto I can remember in my life time.

He appears to be showing greater leadership skills currently than his rivals. He is strong enough to have stuck by his principles against fairly overwhelming odds and has led a much more effective campaign than anyone could have predicted. He has taken tough measures to stand up to his parliamentary party, but also released manifesto policies often baded on consensus views that differ from his own - both signs of strength and leadership.

The debt has risen massively under the Tories, which does not suggest the ability to balance a budget and is especially worrying as that deficit increase coincides with slashing cuts to benefits and services. He may not be perfect, but it is difficult to see how he can be attacked on these points.

*WISE WORDS AND PRAYERS REGARDING THE MANCHESTER/LONDON EVENTS*
*_By Shaykh al Hadith Hadrat Mawlana Yusuf Motala_* *حفظه الله*
_FCPM Radio Ramadan Daily Broadcast_
_Sunday 09 Ramadan 1438/04 June 2017_

Just like Manchester, the tragedy that took place yesterday in London is a very dark stain on humanity. May Almighty Allah rid the earth and purify it from such oppressors. May Almighty Allah keep this country protected and make it an exemplary model of safety and serenity.

50 years ago, we couldn't even contemplate something like this happening in this country. The postman was able to leave valuable items at our doorstep and there was no fear of the items being stolen, nor would we contemplate any other form of mischief from anyone.

How much the world has changed. We're hearing of many catastrophes taking place that, today this happened here and yesterday that happened there. May Almighty Allah have mercy on our condition, and shower his mercy on humanity. May Almighty Allah grant peace, contentment and safety; for every country, city, area, street and home in the world.

Let humanity have the understanding to be humans and live as brothers with each other, with love for one another.

In our prayers in this blessed month, let us always keep praying for the safety, security and serenity of our country.

May Allah have mercy on our condition. Aameen

Over 130 Imams & Religious Leaders from diverse backgrounds refuse to perform the funeral prayer for London attackers in an unprecedented move

5 June 2017

Imams and religious leaders from across the country and a range of schools of thought have come together to issue a public statement condemning the recent terror attack in London and conveying their pain at the suffering of the victims and their families.

In an unprecedented move, they have not only refused to perform the traditional Islamic prayer for the terrorist – a ritual that is normally performed for every Muslim regardless of their actions – but also have called on others to do the same. They said:

“Consequently, and in light of other such ethical principles which are quintessential to Islam, we will not perform the traditional Islamic funeral prayer over the perpetrators and we also urge fellow imams and religious authorities to withdraw such a privilege. This is because such indefensible actions are completely at odds with the lofty teachings of Islam.”

Muslim Imams and religious leaders condemn the Manchester and London terror atrocities and urge fellow Imams to refuse to perform Islamic funeral prayers for the terrorists

“We, as Muslim Imams and religious leaders, condemn the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London in the strongest terms possible. Coming from a range of backgrounds, and from across the UK; feeling the pain the rest of the nation feels, we have come together to express our shock and utter disgust at these cold-blooded murders.

We are deeply hurt that a spate of terror attacks have been committed in our country once more by murderers who seek to gain religious legitimacy for their actions. We seek to clarify that their reprehensible actions have neither legitimacy nor our sympathy.

Though at no time is it acceptable, that such ruthless violence was perpetrated during the season of Ramadan, in which Muslims worldwide focus on pious devotion, prayer, charity and the cultivation of good character, demonstrates how utterly misguided and distant the terrorists are from our faith and the contempt which they hold for its values.

Alongside our friends and neighbours, we mourn this attack on our home, society and people, and feel pain for the suffering of the victims and their families. We pray to God that the perpetrators be judged in accordance with the gravity of their crimes in the hereafter. Their acts and wilful dismissal of our religious principles alienates them from any association with our community for whom the inviolability of every human life is the founding principle (Q.5:32).

Consequently, and in light of other such ethical principles which are quintessential to Islam, we will not perform the traditional Islamic funeral prayer for the perpetrators and we also urge fellow imams and religious authorities to withdraw such a privilege. This is because such indefensible actions are completely at odds with the lofty teachings of Islam.

These vile murderers seek to divide our society and instil fear; we will ensure they fail. We implore everyone to unite: we are one community. In the face of such dastardly cowardice, unlike the terrorists, we must uphold love and compassion.

Such criminals defile the name of our religion and of our Prophet, who was sent to be a mercy to all creation.

We commend our police and emergency services – with whom we stand shoulder to shoulder – for their rapid response, arriving at the scenes while risking their own lives to protect the victims and public. Their response exemplifies the courage, humanity and honour we must exhibit in such difficult times.

We pray for peace and unity, and for all the victims of terror both at home and across the globe, who are targeted, irrespective of their faith.”

Problem there is that it would be hard to prove it's an "ISIS" flag specifically. It's a flag with the shahada (used on many flags associated with Islam) written in a particular script which has only recently become associated with ISIS.

At least, that is the argument that would be made in court. One thing you'll notice if you watch that documentary is how clued in these guys are about how far they can push their agenda without infringing on the law. But perhaps the law will change soon.

One of the suspects parents came here as asylum seekers.

What a way to repay this country for welcoming your parents in when they were having a tough time

Should now keep a close watch on the iman who performs the funeral prayer for the attackers and interrogate him when he does it. It will mean that he agrees with and sympathises with this jihadi stuff.

Lock him up and preferably deport him then. Enough is enough. Europe doesn't need this stuff. Jihadis can do whatever they want in Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Somalia, Sudan and Libya.
