Inter Milan vs. Manchester United

Well that's what i'm saying, from "line-ups" done up on a pitch it's shaped into a 4-4-2, confusing me beyond confusion.

Oh right yeah, well that's just how it's put out as a line-up because it makes sense.

Works out as more of 4-1-2-1-2 with Muntari and Zanetti staying quite far out wide when they need to.

Lets grind out an hour and wear them down, then unleash Rooney and Tevez with the fire in their eyes and a blood lust for goal, and walk away a victory.

I like it.

King Eric also in Milan, so we have 3 former United #7 watching the game today.

Trust Fergie. Im sure hes done just about enough to warrant that.

Rooney and Tevez could make a real big difference in the last 20-25 min when Inter's defenders wont be that fresh.

Hopefully, the players who are not 100% last the full game. Ronaldo needs to run at Santon, he can be exposed.

I think our midfield will be full of work horses.

Park - Carrick - Fletcher - Ronaldo

with Rooney and Tevez up front.

Its all about the energy and the willingness to keep running for the first 60 minutes, then in a similar vein what happened to AC Milan, I'm hoping Inter will tire a little, and then bring on Berbagoal and hope to snatch an away goal.

I was almost right...

I think Tevez and Rooney will come on after 60 mins though.

I'm shitting myself ! :nervous:

I really hope that we can handle their attack. Hopefully Evans will be able to play the whole game.

An early goal please, United.

Can't understand Park's selection... what can he do that Tevez or Rooney can't - defensively or offensively? Are we getting a little too cute with the tactics?
He's a bit more disciplined.

IMO, the key to this line-up is Giggs. As long as he is played ahead of Carrick-Fletcher (and not beside Carrick with Fletch out wide in a 442) with Ronaldo and Park both getting forward whenever possible, he can destroy them with his intelligent running and passing. Obviously not to the extent of Roma, but that is the exact formation and style I'm hoping we're going to play. If we do it right, it will be Giggs pulling the strings in that position so we don't need Rooney. He can just come on at the 60th minute to overload the Inter defence. But if we are going to play 442 then I think it is a very big mistake to not play Rooney.

I'd settle for them to beat us by one goal, as long as we score. (if that makes sense)

I'm sure we can have 'em at OT.

Completely agree.

I think the game hinges on Berbatov as well, to a lesser extent. In that Roma match Giggs was masterful, but Smith lead that line brilliantly and was an important part of it.

Interesting to see how disciplined Berbatov will be, he's been anything but that since he's came.

If we concede early we could be in for a thrashing.

If we score early they could be in for a thrashing though.

That's applicable to any big match we play.

Avram Grant in the studio  and they are asking him about JT's pen

I'd feel more calm if fans were more critical about Fergie's line-up :nervous:

All that and Ronaldo was MOTM then too.

Not really, they are the best team in Italy with one of the best managers in the world. And they are at home. And we're using a defensive minded line up.

I'm not saying we'll lose, but we will need a HUGE amount of luck to get a win.

Viva red army
Viva red army
then I can Travel home and away
To see United play
viva red army

All that and Ronaldo was MOTM then too.

I still find it hard to this day to decide who was MOTM in that match.

Can't get over how amazing we were.

Giggs'll get my vote though, just because I'm a Giggs fanboy.

:D

I'd prefer to see a more attacking lineup, we always do better when we play to our strengths. It will probably be a very cagy match, not great to watch but Ferguson normally pulls this off.

I'm a lot more confident about this match, don't see Inter as a big threat to us at all.

I think we'll do the best out of the four English teams.

But going off last season and this, our strength probably is playing this sort of game.
