Interim manager discussion: Who replaces the interim interim manger (Carrick)?

Get Roy Keane in as interim-interim manager to give them all the kick up the ass that they all need.
 anger and passion and respect doesn't make a good manager. The players need to be coached, not a kick up the ass.

The Ranieri links on here are weird. He’s such a random pick, and he’s only been at Watford for about a week.

Hmmm. Defenders of a board who have previously let Poch and more recently Conte slip through their fingers. Sorry nobody who looks at how our club is run, and sees the appointments that have been made can tell me that we have a clue.

That post isn't a defense of the board, nor an indication that they have a clue. And your post is the issue with your takes in this thread,, they are brainless and fuelled with emotions. @stw2022 suggested that they have a candidate in mind and I suggested that they may have no one in mind, how you see that has a defense is a mystery.

Wayne Rooney after getting deducted 9 points is outplaying the top team in the Championship, could be a good option.

If we really were just starting now with no clue who we'd get, why announce we only want an interim manager. What if tomorrow the perfect candidate became available? It would make no sense. The announcement would be 'Carrick for now until we find someone permanent'. The structure and timetable that's been announced indicates to me, though maybe Im being optimistic' that targets may be in place.

Even an interim is going to need time to assemble a coaching staff which may explain why Carrick might be in place for a few games.

Tbf that means he'll be available in a week's time.

Of course we dont. We had a full international break to sack Ole and get a new manager. We had weeks before the break to start looking. We have fecking Carrick in charge now until we find an interim before we try and get someone end of season? It's a joke. Not to mention all the talk about Poch or Rodgers. Both would be horrendous appointments.

Yep. It's mad that we can't even fully appreciate Ole's sacking now that's It's finally happened because the club has yet another few aces up their sleeve in keeping this circus show running. Our next next two games will be as brutal as what we witnessed yesterday.

Because Diogo, the one time you did start you were the worst player on the pitch

No. But perhaps you have people ready to come in before sacking the manager.

That coaching team are as much to blame as Solskjaer.

They are but needs must. Fans would be infuriated if we kept him going until maybe December when a new man (interim) had time to assemble a coaching staff.

You are against almost every picks and ambivalent about the ones you don't know.

Give it Cantona until the end of the season. It would be a disaster but it would be fun at least.
Are there actually any decent interim options? The last I can remember being successful was Benitez at Chelsea after he won the Europa League or whatever it was.

What a feckin joke. You get rid of ONE person in the management team and think that addresses this?

We're literally going to just change the manager but keep the rest of the shit bastard coaches in place?

I can only think Ten Hag has agreed to join in the summer and the club wanted Ole to last until then.

Now we're going to have another poor cnut in that the players might not take seriously enough because they already know he's off after a few months anyway.

I hope even an interim manager fecks off the current coaching staff and atleast relegates them to manage in the academy if not sack them.

I'm finding it difficult to be happy about anything here to be honest. Ole was out of his depth and couldn't kick us on, he needed to go, really should never have been given a contract extension when he was - but the problems in the club are deep rooted and sacking him has only solved about 2% of the problem. The coaching staff and Oles team needs eventually to be replaced, but I can kind of see, at the moment, why they are hanging on. Even an interim manager should bring his own coaching team.

I'm quite angry at the players at the moment. I wish they'd take a look in the mirror before the next game, look at the badge on their shirt and realise who they are playing for. A manager can not generate self pride and some of these players have absolutely none.

Funnily enough, if the club did that we would have several threads about how the board are basterds who were plotting behind Ole's back and had an entire coaching staff ready minutes after his sacking. And by the way clubs rarely have people ready to come that quickly, that's why summer and international breaks are ideal for these things.

I’d say that’s fair enough, if you don’t know them then how can you say either way?

All I know is I don’t want Rodgers. Ten Hag is my guy.

We already know the current coaching team aren't up to the job. They should have at least have had an interim manager ready to go even if they were planning to keep the rest of the staff

Well you still bring your negative energy! :D

Talks happen all the time. And the international break was the perfect time to pull the trigger. Everyone knew he was finished.

Bit of a worry, because I’m pretty certain that Ole in isolation, as a toxic or completely incompetent presence, is not the main issue. Feels as if we may just see more of the same midweek.

Yeah, agreed. Hopefully it is very very short-term. They all need moving out.

Unbelievable. We're a fecking laughing stock.Biggest club in the world and it's obvious to anyone with half a brain we are a shambles from top to bottom.
Nothing will change until the Glazers are gone.
Still don't understand how they were allowed to 'acquire' the club in the first place.Never should have been allowed. The best mangers in the world should be clambering over themselves to manage Manchester United but it seems no one's interested.Embarrassing.
Maybe it’s not that dark, yes Glazers are the worst when it comes to football decisions but surely some managers are not just available or on some contracts and they just can’t cut it in the middle of the season.

There was an article before today that mentioned something about how McKenna and Carrick had the players trained in certain system/formation but then Ole contradicted the whole thing by playing in different system on matchdays, leaving the players confused. Of course, take it with a massive bag of salt, but let's see if there is any truth to that now Carrick is the man, albeit temporary.

I'd say they need both (not that I would give Keane the job). The next manager must be a strong character, not a soft manager like OGS clearly was.

The permanent manager MUST be a winner, not a ‘good coach’. Someone who will drop players when they just jog around the park as Martial did yesterday and not respect perceived reputations. Our local Bitter has said he’d heard Chelsea will appeal Maguire’s red card. That’s how low it’s got at OT. We need to keep Varane fit, buy a decent right back and CDM, and get the spark back into the players. Even Rashford was jogging yesterday.

They do but it's highly unlikely for someone to come that quickly, people are basically expecting something rare and saying that it's a sign of a lack of plan. As for the international break, it was the perfect time but it goes back to the club allegedly not wanting someone like Conte, it limited greatly the options.

Why? Gerrard went to Villa in like 48 hours

Conte didn't have to be the choice. The whole club run so badly, from top to bottom.

I'm just really annoyed at them appointing the same coaching team who were clearly a massive part of the problem, even if it is only for a couple of games.

If it's only for a short while then fine but i do wonder why they've gone Carrick over McKenna. Has Carrick had any experience of managing a team at any level?

I agree with this. He wouldn't stand for any crap either. let him be interim until the end of the season

I agree, it will be most interesting to finally see how much influence Ole had over the playing style and how much influence the other coaches did.

No it would be seen as good planning because that's what nearly every top club. I'm not sure why you'd think people would complain when most have been asking for this to happen for weeks.

Unfortunately I fear season has been written off already now, and we will struggle if we will not be in top four this season which is very much predictable to keep our best players because many won’t like to be in E.L next year until a new manager ( good one I hope ) comes in and tries to fix things quickly from the beginning.
