Internationals March (World Cup Qualifiers)

Surprising to see Southgate not continue with 3 at the back. Maybe he thinks he'll get criticized but it's not a defensive system, it just depends on the way you play it. I mean, the top-ranked team in the world plays it but I guess it makes sense to add an extra attacking player, given the attacking talent we have in the squad.

Well that is an extra £10 million added onto England International Jesse Lingard's transfer fee.

That’s probably the least inspiring England team I can remember since the dark days of Graham Taylor and Carlton Palmer!

This is the start of a long pattern of choosing Chilwell over Shaw that will continue into the Euro's.
Every tournament an England manager makes one huge clanger.

Clubs might have had a say in this and they have harder games to come than San Marino. The best team will be out against Poland. What they need to do is score lots of goals as this team is the whipping boys.

What is with two holding midfield players against San Marino?

Shouldn't ultimately matter that much but it looks a bit strange to me.

I can never quite work out what Gareth Southgate is thinking with his lineups. Usually things make some degree of sense with managers but his tend to surprise me.

The anthem still remembers Zlatan

What’s with the spoken word everywhere at the moment. So shit.

So Löw seems to go with Havertz at #9. (If it's not Gnabry, but I don't think so.)

Edit: Well, looks like I was wrong.

That Captain Tom poetry shite was awful. Genuinely hilariously awful

Prowse isn’t a holding player, he’s more box to box. I’d guess he’s there to put crosses in for DCL.

I don’t understand playing Lingard on the wing. His never going to Euro’s as a wing option so why not play Saka?

Yeah I could try. Before when I played football I could play pretty much every position apart from keeper. I was a terrible keeper.

A bit like James Milner and also good at pens to be fair. I only missed one in a real game which was in Gothia cup semi final when I was 14, but I scored the rebound hehe. It was a terrible pen straight at the keeper. Still we lost 4-1 so it did not matter. English team who was really good do not remember the name. Not a big club. I was actually second pen taker in our team, but the first one was suspended.
We could play for this team

Just tuned in and thought “wow San Marino look sharp” and then realised England are the ones in playing in blue. In a home game.

Why do we routinely have to play these postmen? The Nation’s League, for all its faults, gives the postmen a chance to play against milkmen and improve their game

Not strictly speaking a holding player, but of the available options it's a fairly uninspiring one to have him and Kalvin Phillips in a midfield against a team like this.

He'll probably play fantastically now!
