Is Pogba as good as gone?

We are so bad, we obviously need him. I really do not know what to think anymore, I really do not like the player but the last thing we can do is lose players like Pogba. We are fracked for a while. I'll enjoy the journey, why else do it?

You can recover from minor surgery pretty quick and minor surgery can deal with a lot of problems that would otherwise manifest into something greater. I’m sure there’s a none surgical option to treat this, but I don’t blame a player for wanting to go the best long term route for dealing with an injury.

Ole has already betrayed that a month is a best case scenario by saying a “month-ish.” I guess it will be after our winter break.

He knows. You don't get much closer than this in terms of insider info.

Ankle surgeries are never minor due to how complex that area of the body is. What if he gets complications after the surgery or still doesn't recover fully? When does this fecking nightmare end?

In theory yes but if the situation was 100% clear, I think Ole might have said "we looked at it and he is going to get a 2nd opinion but the surgery is highly likely " or something like that.
Obviously this is pure conjecture. Time will tell
 
From a medically curious point of view - has there been any information on what the injury/diagnosis actually is? I'm trying to wrap my head around this. He was in a cast for a while so it didn't quite make sense for it to be a ligament injury.

He was allowed to weight bear through a recovery boot for a while so didn't strike me as a significant bone break (or mechanism of injury for the bone break).

The only thing that I'm left with here is some form of a stress fracture.

Now with a stress fracture, a bone doesn't care if you're an athlete or not. They need 6-8 weeks. To stop reoccurrence and avoiding surgery you'll go with 8 weeks before proper training.

He missed his first game because of his ankle on September 14th. Came back prematurely against Arsenal on September 30th. Daft mistake. After that, he went into a cast from October 6th and then played his next football game on December 22nd. This assumes he got back to training ~ December 15th.

That means there were 11 weeks between the time of casting to return to play. That is usually more than enough time to heal a simple stress fracture. So it's a bit mind-boggling how they would have gotten the severity/diagnosis wrong the first time around or didn't alter course in the follow up constant scans during his time off.

This could explain what Raiola was on about when he was talking about us ruining him. Just a bizarre string of decisions by the medical team around him.

Sad thing with stress fractures (especially with a serious one like Pogba's) is that injury reoccurrence sets you down a horrible path of chronic problems because the bone never really gets a chance to fuse cleanly.

I hope we can sell him ASAP.

You're wrong, most people stick to their jobs as long as their happy with their paycheque, that's what really matters, very few care about the employer they work for.

He is contracted to play for the club and you would think the club doctors have priority to assess his "injury". You would also think he is obligated by contract to report regularly to assess the injury. "His people"? Wtf has happened to this game. Is nothing written into players' contracts these days that obligates them to fulfill their obligations and not allow them to go tripping around the flee whilst supposedly injured? If there is any credibility in the claim that he has a serious injury, as his absence would suggest, you would think he would remain close to the club for regular assessment and make sure it gets plenty of rest and treatment to aid recovery. Farcical.

Of course, if there is any truth in this so called injury, "his people" have made a fecking mess of their treatment, so far. I don't know about United ruining players' careers but his medical team are having a good go.

It just all sounds so very fishy. Obviously players have reoccurrence of old injury and need to go under the knife again, but it's crystal clear that Pogba, and his agent Vito Corleone only care about number 1, and will happily go the dirty tricks route if need be.

Can a player fake needing a surgery, so they can send the club a statement that this is how it will be, unless we do things my way?
 
Sell him. It hurts me so much seeing him do this to Ole and co. Especially to MANCHESTER UNITED.

Let him go and while finding suitors, let him rot in the reserves or something. As suggested by some.

One thing I'll say, I've seen many players play with various injuries requiring surgeries for full recovering but their clubs needing them so much, they just kept on playing with heavy doses of anti inflammatories till the appropriate time or at worst when the pain wasn't tolerable or the damage to the injury became too serious.
I have no idea if the Pogba situation is similar to this just that delaying a surgery during a season has happened plenty of times
 
We really don’t know what’s going on. I doubt the injury story, but it’s possibly true.

We’re pretty much fekked as far as top four goes. Sure, there’s plenty of games left and we’re right on Chelsea’s heels but we’ve shown no ability to consistent win games in the league.

Where I’m going with this is that if we can have 100% fit and in form Paul Pogba by the EL semifinal we can win that trophy and get back into the CL, which is the only goal we should be playing for through the end of the season. Bring us an EL trophy and we’ll happily sell him wherever he wants to go. I’d love to keep him but only if he (you, if you’re reading this Paul) wants to stay.
 
What if he is really injured and risking it will make it permanent?

People are hating him for sport.

No, people are hating him because he has been a massive disappointment and from the outside appears to be a very negative entity to our club. I genuinely can’t stand the bloke, he and his agent have shown this club zero commitment or respect.
 
I’m a huge fan of Pogba but this whole injury thing smells very fishy and i feel Ole’s not being entirely honest about the situation.

As much as I enjoy watching Pogba play(which has been rare these days) , we should get rid this window if he doesn’t want to be here anymore which I feel he doesn’t. Also his fat agent won’t let us know any peace till we sell Pogba, I’m tired of this drama with them.

Time to move on without him, we’ve basically played the whole season without him anyways. Let’s get in at least 2 quality midfielders this window and forget about Pogba, he’s done here imo.

Pogba has been desperate to leave United for a long long time. First offering himself to City 2 years ago.
No one will pay the asking price.
So only solution for him to leave is to reduce his price / vslue to United. Hey presto this seasons antics.
Personally id let him rot in the reserves.

I think he clearly wants out but I don't think he's been nearly as bad as you're making him out to be. I could be wrong but I don't ever remember him publicly speaking out himself that he wanted to go. Raiola does this with all his players, he's a complete dick and I hope we stay away from his players in future but I wouldn't hold Pogba on that. I think he's been far more professional than, say, Lukaku was, or Rooney was in the past.

I also really don't get this idea that he's feigning injury or something to get a move. How the feck is it in a players best interest to not play any football for four months if he's trying to get a transfer? Most players want to play as much as possible, at their peak, if they're looking to get a move.

They said Neymar had similar problems when the injury first came out and he was out for 3 months. Now, Pogba supposed to be back much sooner and it was first said it isn't so severe as the one Neymar had. However, the club/Pogba apparently opted against surgery which he will now do anyway.

So, my problems are that we potentially prolonged the recovery by looking at what went out so far. The club is very unclear about the whole thing and should make a clear statement especially as it fuels the uncertainty. More so, what came out is that they looked like they didn't have a clear idea during this whole time when he will be fully fit. So, people will naturally start asking questions. That is also a very annoying part... How hard is to come out, have medical details in front of you and explain the whole thing or call him out if there are doubts.
Lastly, that fat feck and his comments don't help either in the middle of everything. He should be told to shut up, but that's regardless of Pogba anyway. Grow a pair and tell it how it is along with telling his agent where to go.
