Israel - Palestine Discussion | Post Respectfully | Discuss more, tweet less

I think that they knew how it would go but more importantly if you give your unconditional support, you have a duty to consider the worst outcome. So it's laughable that it took this lot 2 days to change their communication.

Once Israel goes into Gaza, and there will be some photos or videos of dead IDF soldiers,
and especially once Hamas starts releasing videos of tortured hostages which they probably will,
Biden and all other Western politicians will once again be reminded of their evilness and endorse what you described as 'the worst outcome'.

The current state of affairs where all the damage, destruction and killings take place only on one side of the equation,
isn't only a monumental tragedy but is also something that Israel should fear, if you only look at the PR angle.

While Israel would like for the least amount of lives lost,
You have to think that lives lost serve as oxygen for the continuation of the fighting,
by which you inflict more losses of lives on the other side. :(

I'm suddenly intrigued by something-

do we have any lawyers on board?

I'm seeing so many Facebook posts/tweets by Israelis calling for Bibi's head,
calling him a son of a bitch, wishing death on him...

I don't have social media so I didn't join the party, but I can imagine myself writing something similar.

Can a politician sue me for calling them a son of a bitch (when they are clearly not it)? and actually win in court?
If it's on my Facebook then my name will be there, and my picture will likely be there...

won't that be slander? libel? something to that effect?
I'm sure you're pretty safe, they've been called much worse than that before

Yeah I guess. Cheers @Frosty for also commenting.

I was just thinking, also, that a politician suing a civilian for calling him a cnut during wartime will get ridiculed to such extent that said politician will probably lose voters, while pocketing some money.

Probably not worth it.

Anyway, back to the more depressing parts of this thread (and reality).

Someone has graffitied ‘Ilsam is evil’ on the bus stop opposite the local Tesco. The community WhatsApp had a few ‘who is Ilsam and what did he do?’ before we realised what they were trying to say.

I don't get these things and it's the same with the very similar backtracking from Macron. Why are they backtracking? We know what they said, we know how they act and how they will act, so why do they think that they are fooling anyone? That also applies to the EU, who made a 180 on their initial response and are acting as if they were shocked by how things are moving.

They are really convinced that people are complete imbeciles, aren't they?
I really belive in humanity, but sadly enough people either are or dont care enough for it being worth it for politicians to threat us all as we are, as you say, complete imbeciles.

This one.

As usual these Tweets are deliberately misleading. For starters you can see by their clothing that these aren't random street cops, the padded jackets and identifiers on the back are worn for mass events that may get messy. The fact that they take her to some mobile command post is also a little hint. So I assume someone got denied their petition to hold a demonstration and then then she and her camera man showed up anyway to cause a scene. Police asked her to leave, she didn't comply, so they removed her.

Just seeing videos of people being pulled from under the rubble, the death toll has to be much higher than being reported at the moment, there will probably be thousands buried under all the rubble.

Aerial weaponry is truly an awful invention.

50 Palestinian human beings have been killed this week in the West Bank, and 1100 injured. IDF and the illegal settlers (should be called squatters surely?) doing the killing...but I've tried look for more info online for why, but struggling.

Jewish terrorists, with their chief enabler at the heart of the Israeli govt, as voted in by the Israeli people.

Feels like we're entering a scary time. Both anti semitism and anti Islam on the rise. Israel will invade Gaza. Terrorist acts have already been committed and more will be.

There is a distinct smell of world war 3 off of this 1.

Gaza should be smaller when this is over, Israeli minister says

Benjamin Netanyahu says he will “eliminate” Hamas. But what happens the day after? We’ve been getting some clues this weekend about thinking within parts of the Israeli government.

Cabinet minister Gideon Sa’ar has appeared on Israeli TV. He said Hamas must be destroyed so it could never threaten Israel again, adding this would serve as a lesson to the region.
He also said that Gaza must end up smaller - with Israel taking control of a belt of land in the east and north of the strip. This would be a "security zone" and anyone who entered it would be "intercepted" by the military.

He made clear these objectives were his personal views. but that he was saying them everywhere. Sa’ar said losing land was the price that “Arabs understand”.

This will play into the worst fears of Palestinians as it evokes for them the core issue - the loss of their lands in the conflicts surrounding Israel’s creation 75 years ago.

Colombian President is not backing down:

"If we must suspend foreign relations with Israel, we will suspend them. We do not support genocides.

The President of Colombia is not to be insulted.

I call upon Latin America for genuine solidarity with Colombia. And if it is incapable, it will be the course of history that has the final say, just as in the great Chaco War.

Neither Yair Klein nor Raifal Eithan can define the history of Colombia's peace. They unleashed massacre and genocide in Colombia.

From the people of Israel, I seek assistance for peace in Colombia and aid for peace in Palestine and the world.

Colombia, as Bolívar and Nariño taught us, is an independent, sovereign, and just nation.

One day, the army and government of Israel will apologize for what their men did on our land by unleashing genocide. I will embrace them, and together we will mourn the atrocities of Auschwitz and Gaza, as well as Colombia's own Auschwitz.

Hitler will be defeated for the benefit of humanity, its democracy, peace, and the world's freedom."

Is he referring to an event in Colombia?

Links between ex IDF and paramilitaries, major gun running for death squads etc in Colombia.

I've read about that Yair guy before and his links to the cartels and paramilitary groups but who is Raifal Eithan? I've never heard of him and Google didn't give me anything.

It appears to be a typo. It is referring to Rafael Eitan. But this seems to be more in the realm of conspiracy theory.

Rare to see politicians that aren't bitchmade

I mean honestly bringing up these two guys in the context of a diplomatic spat is a bit much.
