I understand that the involvement of these guys in Autodefensas and the fact they sent some Colombian militia leaders to train in Israel is established by Colombian police... But their link to Israel (the state) is just some conspiracy shit...

Rafi was not only a senior mossad guy, he ended up as an advisor to Sharon and Rabin. Also its more than a coincidence that the Colombians had training in Israel and bought lots of military equipment off them, just as hundreds of politicians in columbia started being murdered again a few years ago.

On that topic, there is a case from August that had an "amusing" developement that explains why peace is nearly impossible, it's all in the title of the article.

Edit: For people that can't see the article, there is an important piece of information this gentleman that is only barred for 5 months is a far right members that was tracked by Shin Bet for Jewish extremism.

Children should be protected at an cost. The current state of the world is a clear indication that people don't give a feck about the lives of children anymore. I can't even begin to fathom the mindset someone has to be in to take the life of a child and feel nothing or feel any remorse.

Same. It's a lot to take in and I feel like I'm honoring the dead somehow by watching their stories but it's difficult. I can't imagine the emotional state of those who are living the nightmare.

Hope you’re all taking care of yourself people.

As a poor attempt at slight levity, our work building in NY was attacked today (nothing serious, nobody hurt) because someone thought J Street (some lobby group or something) was the same as Jane street. After being told they were different by the security guard, they politely vacated the premises but not before sitting down for coffee in reception whilst politely asking why they named the company after the lobby group.

I’ve no idea, wasn’t there. (Sunday too so probably just security and people watching sports there) Just caught the story on slack and giggled. Assuming just angry students wanting to make a positive difference to the world or something.
 
uss Bataan (wasp class) and carter hall (landing ship) have vanished round the south of Bahrain. Could conceivably be heading for the area, and would likely be far less ancillary and more “direct action” related than the Ford. No word whether it is or not though, could just be heading away from iran given rising tensions.

Looks like the US are quietly beefing up assets just in case. Also looks like Biden is on the way there this week, that Iranian proxies may be recruiting from Pakistan for an Israeli war, and that the heat is rising for a “first strike“ on hezbollah. Might be why the US are moving assets in.

That means the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit is heading round the bend with them, along with their MARSOC (Spec Ops) capability.

As far as I’m aware 26MEU is spec ops capable as opposed to spec ops ready. Jim Laporta (worth following if you’re still using twitter) explained the distinction better than I ever could. That doesn’t mean they aren’t there; DOD has specifically stated they have moved in “door kickers” (usually means devgru or delta though)



I was curious about whether the US would likely get directly involved in hostage rescue, so asked somebody who should know about these things yesterday. His answer was he suspects not, but rather to plan and assist only. Stressed it was just a guess.

So you think Hamas has nothing else planned. One attack and then just hunker down. At the moment, I guess that seems the most plausible explanation but it is both very cruel and very cynical.

That’s correct. I pointed it out because they’re able to provide the specially trained force multiplier for any SEAL/Delta/Raider forces that are also silently moving into position in the Med.
