Can you explain to me how its offensive to people who think Palestinians live in 'relative peace' when people say that this isn't the case?
This was covered last night. Fair to say, the majority of evidence since, as presented by impartial observers, casts major doubt on the Hamas version of events. And I'm putting it mildly.

Yes. That is how it works, or how it should work. This is how things work in our countries. If a terrorist killed thirty people and then barricaded himself in your home, with you and your family inside, the army would not bomb your home. If they did, it would be controversial, to say the least.
Otherwise you get situations like the 2019 Miramar shooting, when two robbers carjacked an UPS truck and took the driver hostage. The police simply opened fire on the truck and murdered the robbers and the hostage as well as an innocent bystander, a complete travesty of justice. I would find it hard to believe that if your friend or relative was that hostage who got obliterated, you would accept the police's argument that "they were hamstrung."
The reason that hostage and bystander died is because the police value a risk to their own lives far, far higher than they rank the lives of civilians. And that too is part of the reason why the IDF will drop bombs on civilians; it is less risky on their own soldiers. The other part of the reason is that they simply don't value those civilian lives a whole lot.
People are offended at the Palestinian living conditions being described poorly? You don't believe they are? Is it you that is offended by the assertion they live in awful conditions and circumstances?

And if you find a post, drivel as you say, point it out, don't have a mini tantrum into the ether.
The UN and Amnesty also described the living conditions of the Palestinians as poor and describe fear and intimidation. So it's not that odd when someone says they have a relatively peaceful existence people will take issue.
Amnesty in 2021 "Laws, policies and practices which are intended to maintain a cruel system of control over Palestinians, have left them fragmented geographically and politically, frequently impoverished, and in a constant state of fear and insecurity."
Now I'm more than happy to have the opposite explained to me. As to who is offended by that statement.

It was not my intention to trivialise the plight of the many Palestinians living in Gaza.
If we go back to the post I was responding to, where I used the word Peace, I was trying (badly) to point out that the events of the last week or so when the IDF were heavily bombing targets in Gaza don't happen all the time. And despite the difficult conditions they live under, in the main, they get on with their lives.
On national television, to reduce everyone to being in terrorist circles, yes I feel it was reductive, racist and quite outrageous given the scale of the audience.

Although correct, I believe Hamas didn't communicate what was going to happen to their soldiers until just before it happened. Otherwise it would've surely been leaked in chatter and picked up by Israeli eavesdropping.
I know all of that. While I do hesitate to draw lines in time I didn't take issue.
Weeks don't measure time for the oppressed, trauma can take years and even generations to recede.

This is incredibly troubling, all the more reason to call a cease fire, end the occupation entirely and finally free Palestine.

So what's the point of the weeks long invasion of Gaza, if they believe Hamas will take years to root out?
As Ghassan Alyan said, the point was to open the gates of hell and cause destruction.
That's what happens when you don't even allow peaceful protests. People aren't going to stop wanting to protest, especially when you show a clear bias towards one side allowing them to protest.
It's obvious what they want to do, they want to drive Palestinians out of Gaza in order to annex the land for Israelis.
Call me crazy, but being shit at your job should be a sackable offence.
