I imagine he means the idea of Israel, as the ethno-nationalist/supremacist state. Or maybe the literal sense. I don't know anymore.
He means the very concept of an Israel. Its not uncommon to hear these goons talk about ejecting all Israelis from the region. Its also a prominent Iranian talking point when they refer to Israel as "The Zionist Entity".

It's a tricky one isn't it. I mean, he does kind of say he wants to repeat the 7/10 massacres time and time again, but maybe he just means that figuratively and he wants a one state liberal democracy where jews and arabs have equal rights.
Of which, do they mean a state where Arabs are treated as second-class citizens? As in the notion of a Jewish state?

The actual interview is 1hr 20 minutes, so it might be a bit of a commitment.
That's their very purpose. To showcase extremist rhetoric that appears on Arabic media to western audiences.
Just to point out that this letter was written from Craig Mokhiber to Volker Turk. Mokhiber is the New York Director for the UN agency, Turk is the High Commissioner himself.
This place is as bad as the media so you could say it accurately reflects their audience or is it the reverse. Rightly people strongly condemned Russia's careless bombings but you'll see loads of the same people shrugging off Israeli bombings or just not engaging with content that shows it.
Hypocrisy and bias is to be expected I guess, a lot of views just seem to parrot CNN a lot of the time.
Yesterday they said that they had killed the Hamas leader, but I guess new ones just keep sneaking in to that refugee camp.

Think they realised they were getting no pushback from their allies (who in turn just doubled down on their support), so figured what the hell, let's keep the rockets flying and blame the carnage on Hamas. And to be fair to them that narrative spin is working. 50,000 Palestinians would die and you'd still have Biden , Sunak and Starmer insisting a ceasefire is still counter-intuitive in easing the suffering. Perhaps the Palestinians need the Russians to throw a few stray rockets their way for the US et al to suddenly grow a conscience and act like human beings.

Yes, it's the 'irresistible force' meets 'the immovable object' scenario... probably why a lot of countries around the world, (even the ones close by) who are jumping up and down with anger, are all staying out of this, because its a fight that nobody can win on the terms both are specifying.
Getting drawn into a 'fight to the death' which both combatants seem intent upon, is not a good prospect for any other government to offer to its own people.

To better understand the risk to civilians in south Gaza, BBC Verify has identified and analysed four specific instances of strikes in that region. We also looked at some of the warnings and evacuation instructions that were issued to Gazan civilians, including some advising them to move to certain areas in the south.
Some of these warnings were accompanied by maps with arrows pointing to vaguely defined areas to move towards. Three strikes we examined hit within, or close to, those areas in the days after the warnings were issued.

Most of these BBC verified pieces seem to be buried deep on the site. I usually visit the bbc main page and then go into the live Gaza page. The headline is pretty consistently from an Israel as victims perspective. I think this constant positive Israel framing in the news is doing them more harm than good. The majority of my friends who didn't really have an awareness of this conflict are pretty much against Israel now (whilst also being against Hamas as has to be pointed out). I don't think Israel will recover that positive image for a very long time if ever.
They wouldn't care a bit. They would have US, EU and lot more countries sending money and supplying arms. Public opinion means nothing.
Countries have done far worse things than Israel (so far). Perceptions can change fairly quickly.
Does the notion of vetting mean anything to Egypt? Just the fact that people with foreign passports and the injured couldn't even get out through Rafah was infuriating enough for weeks and until it was decided differently only in recent hours.
Peak stupidity by Hamas, especially from idiots like this guy who lives pretty much in total comfort abroad while his own people are the ones living in abject poverty and dying.
It does when it starts costing politicians votes. Granted we're still a ways off from that, but its feasible at some point the public sentiment becomes overwhelmingly disapproving of Israel's colonial behaviour, that not even media spin could counteract the backlash.
That is a pipeline dream. Every country has its own domestic problems which define the voting patterns. Foreign policy is hardly a priority in an election.
Look at Saudis. People are extremely critical of what they do inside and outside the country. Does it matter to the govts or the Saudis. Money and arms flow like water.

Exactly. This conflict is at its most intense in many years, and if there was an election tomorrow I wouldn't expect it to shift votes at all (maybe outside of the US). Primarily because it's far down on the list of voter concerns, but also because all mainstream politicians are basically saying the same.

I don't think anything will happen, cause if they wanted to, they'd have done it already.
A few missiles being hit between both parties at the borders is the status quo, nothing damning. Its their way of saying "we're with you but can't go all in right now".
Israeli recon/spy plans are all over Beirut though 24/7 for some reason, donno what they want to check, its not as if anything has changed for the last 30 years. Gets annoying hearing the noise every night, sometimes you wake up and can't sleep again because of it, goddamn Israilis. Ah of course, invasion of foreign air space is met with nothing from governing bodies, US will just veto anything anti-Israel.
Even the public, its all normal here. Christmas decorations being set up most places, no one is worried because we know nothing will happen, because it (logically) should've happened already.
