The debate rages on, with success in the League Cup and now the Europa League with the bonus of qualifying for the champions league group stages.. have we had a better season than Liverpool, Manchester City and Tottenham?
 
We've had the better season.

They're currently in a better position for next season though.
 
Easily. We have as much as they do... and a couple of trophies more.
 
Of course we have. You don't win anything for 2nd, 3rd or 4th. We've qualified for the same competition and won two cups in the process. In the case of Liverpool and City, we're already in the group stage and they're not.

In a few years time what do you think people will remember?

We have had a better season than Chelsea if they fail to win the FA cup. I can argue that.

Jose has already done more than Liverpool have achieved in the last 10 years.
 
Is it even an argument? We got CL, like them, and we got 2 trophies, unlike them.

They got an extra £10-15 million in Premier League prize money. I'm sure their fans will enjoy that.
 
The difference is that Spurs fans will be telling their Grandkids about the great 16/17 season, where they finished above the Arsenal and almost challenged Chelsea in the league.
 
Spurs and Liverpool have tried to win this cup and they've failed, so the fact that we've won it, are also in the CL and have also won another domestic cup surely means we've had the better season. These players aren't just happy they're in the CL btw, they're celebrating because they've won a pretty big cup competition and it'll be a great night for the whole club. The players benefit from winning this kind of thing, even if it's not the cup we want to be in. What do Liverpool and Spurs have to celebrate?
 
I don't recall anyone labeling Chelsea's season where they won the Europa League under Benitez, better than everyone else in the league bar the league winners.

I'm not sure if 2 cups mitigate a poor league position.
 
Won't say that we had a better season that Spurs. City, Liverpool and Arsenal - yes, but, to be honest, barely.
 
Yes you have, no doubt about that. The spots between 2 -4 in the premier league did not win any trophy, and you are being directly qualified to the CL, as the 2nd and 3rd in the Premier League, except that you also won a tough European competition. The trophy-less Liverpool has to qualify to the CL, which is worse than all teams that we have mentioned.
 
Did they lift some silverware? There are no trophies for second place anywhere. That kind of thinking is what has Arsenal in their Groundhog day cycle.
 
On second thought, let's all go wank over net spend figures and cancelling St Totteringham's Day.

This. Having lived and supported through so many great MUFC seasons this all feels a bit subdued compared to where we used to be.

Can't complain though considering the absolute tripe we've been served up since SAF called it quits.

Most important thing for me is being back in the CL.
 
We have the second best season in England after Chelsea no doubt, we made what City , Spurs and Liverpool did with 3 trophies already.

It's only because it comes with champions league qualification.
 
Trophies are what people remember when the years pass. Second place is last place. Nobody gives a feck after that.
 
We have had a better season but if we'd finished the way Tottenham have, we'd be a lot more positive for next season.

With that said, Tottenham are not big enough to keep hold of their players long term. Even if they won things, players naturally would rather move to a bigger club when it comes knocking. So it may be a false positive for Tottenham because they've won nothing but played in such a way it's only a matter of time before the bids start coming in for their playes. Will they be able to compete with 300k a week contract offers from City/Chelsea?
Same with their manager, if he got serious offers from Real/Barca down the line, he's off.

We've just won the Europa League just over half an hour ago and people are posting shit threads already all over the place???
 
In terms of output obviously yes. Spurs, City and Liverpool have achieved CL qualification. We have too but also won two trophies.

Judging on performances Spurs have obviously played at a higher level than us whilst Liverpool and City have been patchy like ourselves.
 
They're better teams but winning two trophies whilst also qualifying for CL is a better season
