It's official, better season than team A, B and C...

Chelsea had no Euro games and no major injuries. Winning the league was not exactly a biggie. However, if they add the FA Cup, then I will be really impressed.

Winning the league is always a biggie

Better season than anyone in the league bar Chelsea. Not to say Liverpool, City, Spurs etc. haven't done well, but unless they bring in a player who's going to define the club for the next decade as a direct result/do something special in the CL next year, no-one is going to remember a successful qualification campaign. You're not going to get some Kopites reminiscing in two decades time about the season they came 4th; well, you'd hope not for their sakes - though there was a book or two written about coming second and winning nowt.

We've qualified for the CL like the rest but Manchester and elsewhere will remember our first UEFA forever, fact. That's the difference. The league cup and the rest is a tidy bonus for the cabinet.

Only one English club has earned the right to contest the UEFA Super Cup next season.

The only English team to have done better than us is Chelsea. That's irrespective of whether they win the FA cup or not.

Are we just going to assume that Liverpool has qualified for CL? They still have to play a playoff to even get to CL.

Undoubtedly. We have 2 trophies, they have nothing. All of us go to Champions League, with Liverpool needing qualifications.

They played better football, but considering all things, we have a better season.

Chelsea is the only one you'd swap seasons with. Spurs finished second but who gives a shit, they haven't won a trophy in 10 years.

100% indisputably better season than Arsenal.
100% indisputably better season than Liverpool.
100% indisputably better season than City.
Most likely better than Spurs.
Second best to Chelsea regardless of FA Cup as I rate the League that highly.

There's no debate here. Yes we've had the better season than everyone, bar Chelsea.

Better than City and Liverpool definitely. Maybe tied with Spurs because although we got the trophies, their fans have been treated to a season of superb football and a fistful of thrashings. Although we've been much more watchable than under LVG, with a few gems over the course of the season, overall it still hasn't been Manchester United standard.

It'd take a special kind of stupid to argue winning no trophies (Spurs) is better than winning two trophies (United)

Only Chelsea can be happier with their season then us.

Chelsea is the only one you'd swap seasons with. Spurs finished second but who gives a shit, they haven't won a trophy in 10 years.

I wouldn't.

I honestly think this season has been unique, interesting, and historical.

We've won a European Cup, completing our trophy haul (historically) and a domestic trophy as well.

The PL is great, and next season I want us to challenge all the way for it, but ending the season like that tonight, I'll take that over Chelsea's season. Seriously.

People arguing Spurs season equals ours are fecking crazy or on the WUM - they won nothing...

Spurs - 0
United - European Trophy and League Cup

Both teams going straight into the CL group stages next season.

I don't recall anyone labeling Chelsea's season where they won the Europa League under Benitez, better than everyone else in the league bar the league winners.

I'm not sure if 2 cups mitigate a poor league position.

We gave up the league for this. Why is Tottenham surrender of this cup rated higher than our surrender of the league?

We didn't surrender the league. We were a combination of being both unfortunate enough to get lower than expected returns and at other times weren't good enough.

Because the league is considered as a superior competition to this cup?

I've seen years of people mocking Liverpool's tin treble to not take this thread too serious. I don't think Tottenham/City would want to trade places with us. Liverpool... Maybe.

Back then it was considered lower because of no CL. Giving the winner a CL place adds so much more meaning to it.

Also finishing second gets you nothing. Im sure those Spurs players watching on the TV today would rather have been out there. Spurs are not a cup winning team. They need to start winning things soon.

More trophies than all of them and we are in the CL group stage next season. So that is a better season by far on paper, but our season depended on one game and that is something we should not be happy about as Man Utd fans.

It's such an obvious answer.

We've had a better season than everyone bar Chelsea.

Absolutely.

There really is no debate to be had. We've had two great days out parading silverware in front of ecstatic fans and we are CL. How the hell anyone can seriously say we've had an inferior or comparable season to Spurs, City or Liverpool I do not know.

Tottenham haven't won the league though.

I agree with you. I think we have the makings of a great team who can win the league in the near future. Winning a european trophy and having the change to win the super cup is a decent beginning for the team.

1 Europa Cup, 1 FA Cup, 1 League Cup, 1 Community Shield and Potentially a Super Cup in just 2 years

Definitely had a better season than that of City and Arsenal

I would imagine Liverpool fans would rather be in the UCL next season as a result of winning the Europa League and having won an EFL Cup as well than scraping 4th though any UCL qualification for them represents a good season

Spurs is the trickiest one, like last season were they ever really challenging for the title or were they just the closest and so the media made more out of it than what there was?

Ultimately I'm happy with the season, two trophies, Pogba and Bailly coming in, some great Zlatan moments, the likes of Herrera, Valencia and Rojo all stepping up, another year of development for Rashford and we end it on a high in a good position for a good summer in the transfer window

Ofcourse winning trophies beats not winning trophies any day

In the end we have CL football just like them, but also have a league cup and a Europa League trophy to add to our cabinet and they don't.

Of course. We have 2 trophys and instant entry to CL group stages. City/Liverpool and Spurs didnt win anything.

Spurs are a better team than us, but we had a better season. They bottled it in the big games in the Cups (four competitions from their perspective) and when they seemed like they could compete for the title, immediately got a nosebleed.

How are they a better side than us? They put all their eggs in the BPL basket and still failed to win. We put all our eggs in Europa basket and we won it.

I am sure we have played about 15 more games than Spurs this season. They had a very fit squad having had the benefit of playing one game per week since February. If United weren't in Europa, Jose's push for the strong 4 would have been much stronger and we would have finished way higher than 6th.

Liverpool and City? Yes Spurs? No.

Better than Liverpool's, City's and Arsenal's

Spurs had a pretty good season though.

Totally same page.

I wouldn't.

And I wouldn't swap ours for Chelsea's. It's been a roller coaster, with a great kick off to the season - Community Shield and 3 more wins. Downs, greater downs, rising Christmas period. The spring came and brought hopes we could make the top 4, until it nearly finished and we all knew United had to go and win an European trophy to really bring happiness at the end of all we've seen throughout.
My point of Spurs' season better is their consistency and grinding those winning streaks since the turn of the year. More accurately since 14th of Dec last year, Spurs have won 59 of 69 points. While we collected 51 from 75 during our unbeaten run. They've played really well in the league.
I wish Mourinho doesn't ditch the approach he used at the beginning of this season and bring in quality to play the attacking football we exercised during that time.
At least team learned how to defend as a team. With the right additions those to tactical approaches can be married and put teams to sleep next season.
Fingers crossed Woody would do a good job.

Of course we have, we've won more in one year than Spurs and Liverpool have done for a decade.

Better than City and Pool for me but not better than Spurs for me. Yes they're trophies but they're just a far better team and they finished almost 20 points ahead of us.

Chelsea's the only team who can say they had a better season then us. And even that's debateable if they don't win the FA cup (though they probs will)
That's exaggerating, really. Winning the Premier League alone is much more important than the three titles we got, no question whatsoever.

You should print that out, laminate it, and stick it to Spurs' trophy cabinet so they don't finish the season completely empty handed.

I'd give up the CL, Fa Cup and League to win the League. Let alone just a Europa and League Cup!

The total prize money we've earned from finishing 6th, winning the League Cup and Europa Cup is MORE than City and Liverpool get for finishing 3rd and 4th respectively.

Plus, we've won two cup competitions so yes, I think its fair to say we've had better season than others (except Chelsea).

It's great winning trophies but end of the day, it's just the League Cup and Europa. Only reason we've even taken Europa seriously is the CL spot. There's no way we'd be playing anywhere as a strong a team as we have if that spot was not assured. I'd rather challenge for the title and fall short personally but maybe that's just me.

As a fan (and probably as a footballer too):
Chelsea had the best season.
United second best.

In 50 years when people look at our history, they'll see we won trophies. In 50 years no one will give a single solitary shit that Spurs were runners up and scored more goals than us.
