Jeremy Corbyn - Not Not Labour Party(?), not a Communist (BBC)

am I missing something? it's a parasitic creature with the star of david on the statue of liberty, the parasitic stuff does antisemitic elements to it and I don't care if they kick her out, but if that's all it take to rise to "existential threat to british jewry" then I have bad news about the UK

Slight understatement there. It's a ludicrously antisemitic image.

for the record kick her out and anyone who posts things like that, I don't want them in the party I vote for most of the time, but it's really absurd how images like that are enough to warrant the current onslaught. You will find similar levels of racism towards other groups in the labour party, you'll also find a lot worse images and propaganda against trans people from labour members, it's not even half way proportional

That parasite is a 'face hugger' from the Alien movies, where it would latch onto someone's face and lay eggs through their mouths, later an alien would burst out the person's stomach. So yeah it's definitely anti semetic.

It’s not about kicking everyone out who makes what is arguably more of a tasteless (and not remotely funny) ‘joke’ than something genuinely malicious. It’s about creating an environment where she can’t get away with shit like that, without all her peers coming down on her like a ton of bricks. Or at least telling her to grow the feck up.

That one tweet isn’t a huge problem but the responses to it highlight an attitude amongst the Corbynites which is clearly widespread and problematic. And should have been stamped out fecking ages ago.

I follow George Galloway on Twitter so it’s difficult to get balance when so much of my feed is littered with his retweets and stuff. That said, I’ve seen a fair bit today about Ella Rose from last nights show and stuff she has been involved in this year. Was she not named on the show last night and is there a good reason for that? I know they said a few times that Labour leadership refused to be interviewed but could they have not had anyone else on from the party for balance?

what are you talking about, this is a random activist who none of us had heard of until after she was kicked out, she's so low-level that the maybe once a month other members might see her isn't going to be a meeting about how Kaylas posting racism again

The whole point is that she wasn't kicked out initially, it was judged by a Corbyn appointee that the image was "anti-Israeli", not antisemitic. It was only after the case was raised by another MP months later that the party suspended her.

I googled it, she was kicked out because she had contact with the white supremacists who created the image - the image on it's own wasn't enough to kick her out it's the white supremacist link that magnified it to a kickable offence.

Right. Which, given how obviously anti-Semitic the image is, rather points to a problem.

You’ve completely missed my point.

Which is exactly the point! :wenger:

It's so overtly anti-Semitic it's not even difficult to spot.

You do realise the Star Of David was around before the State of Israel, surely. There's a clue in the name, it's been around since the times of, well, King David, actually. Whether you believe in religion, or not, you can't deny that's, like, a fecking long time ago. It's an ancient Jewish symbol, that's why they used it on the Israeli flag.

I simply cannot believe you are not fully aware of this, therefore I can only come to one conclusion.

see i can take the labour from most of you because it's in good faith, but colin actually writing shit like this and trying to be an anti-racism warrior is just absurd, can't take it seriously at all

What exactly do you mean by this?
you don't give a shit about racism colin, you're more outraged about racism coming from no name activists in parties you don't like than you are about significantly more outrageous examples like windrush which you were silent on, because you don't give a shit, you're a bad faith actor who only wants lower taxes

You don't know anything about me and couldn't be further from the truth.

my man you voted for the hostile policy, your lectures on racism aren't worth jack shit, your breaking point with the conservative party wasn't the go home vans, it wasn't windrush, it was a risk to the economy in no deal brexit because selfishness is your sole political agenda

speaking of people who do racism all the time, it's astonishing to see people like Farage talk about labour antisemitism, i imagine that's what the comedy in hell would be, so many layers of irony it makes your head explode

Is there anybody here that actually thinks the documentary was impartial (as the BBC is obliged to be)?

Read some interesting things about the man who made it, John Ware, a former Sun journalist and strident supporter of Israel. He doesn’t like Corbyn much it seems. He wrote of Corbyn as:

“a Labour leader whose entire political career has been stimulated by disdain for the West, appeasement of extremism, and who would barely understand what fighting for the revival of British values is really all about.”

He also wrote:

“It is surely Muslim radicals who have brought it [anti-Muslim bigotry] on their fellow Muslims – by their promotion of Islam as a political ideology, and by invoking Islamophobia to close down criticism of this ideology.”

Imagine how that would sound if one replaces “radical Muslims”, “political Islam” and “Islamophobia” with the equivalents of “Israel zealots”, “hardline Zionism” and “anti-semitism”.

The difference between you and me mate, is that I wrestle with my conscience every time I vote, knowing that, more often than not, the party that I'm voting for is a total feck up, but that the thought of the alternative makes me shudder.

That also extends to voting Lib Dem in the European Elections.

Whereas you are overtly anti-Semitic and you don't even care, trying to deny it and deflecting with your whataboutism.

Not only are you happy to support an anti-Semitic party, but also one that is, by your own admission, overtly racist and anti-LGBT too.

Now, will you fecking stop, because it's late and I need to get some sleep.

this is literally everyone

the difference between you and me is that i'm happy to say the exact problems my team has, you'll find dozens of posts here explaining why labour has institutional racism and even bias against hiring the lower classes, i don't go quiet and avoid it when they're having a crisis

Worth noting that Ware is also someone whose journalism was previously praised by one Jeremy Corbyn.

Fixed for you.

What a fecking ridiculous post

Think the anti semitism stuff has been intentionally blown out of proportion. That said, it is clear there is a problem.
Aaron Bastani never fails to come across like a twat.

It's just typical Watson. He doesn't care about solving these issues half as much as he does about using it for self-promotion.

That's the biggest issue with this, using it as a proxy war muddies the water and puts the focus on the attacks rather than solving the actual issue of some antisemitic members.

What exactly does she mean by "took time out from her chemotherapy"?

It's not a 24/7 thing, can be fortnightly and take all day though. There is no "taking time out" involved.

You're a classy guy aren't you.

There's a huge recovery period with chemotherapy and really they shouldn't even be around large groups. Never mind be put under stress from colleagues using a cancer patient for publicity.
