Better for you. Your relentless defending of a shite player speaks volumes. People want better for the club but some are still stuck on underperforming little dancers. You are literally defending someone who plays as an attacker for United and has a grand total of 10 assists in his entire life. No amount of "clever movement, energy blah blah" can make up for that.
The managers who trusted him hot sacked and that's that. We all want the same thing, to see United on top. Players like Lingard are not going to take us there.
So I guess Solskjaer is next on the firing line huh? What a terrible future we have. Im not apologizing for having an unpopular opinion. There's a cult of Herrera here riding his nuts when he's been nothing more than a rotational player, but that's mainstream obsession and fine on the Caf.

I have to say, lingard is such a weird hill to die on. I cant think of a single thing hes done to warrant such utter devotion.
I'd rather see Kieran Richardson back than play Lingaard.

Loftus-Cheek has 15 goals & assists in 39 appearances this season, having squad players miles more productive than Lingard is a big part of the reason Chelsea are top 4 and we aren’t.

A tier 2 leak from Reddit has said that Lingard is on thin ice at the moment:
He's an attacking player who has 1 goal and 0 assists for Utd since Boxing Day and today is the final day of our season.
How anyone can even try and justify that, or claim people who criticise Lingard are just "haters" is absolutely baffling.
How low can someones standards be to see a Utd attacker score 1 goal in 15 games, have 0 assists and think yeah, that's good enough?

I know this by looking at the quality of squad players that they have. I also know this by the stock/status of the few squad players they have between them who are a little worse than the rest. They are all reported to be leaving this summer.
As for Origi, he was a top class talent who was bought to compete for a starting place. I’m going to put my personal opinion aside, as someone who has always rated him highly anyway (just see the Origi thread which I started) - but going with the consensus of him turning out to be not good enough, how would you say he’s been treated since that decision was made at Liverpool? He’s been loaned out, and generally ostracised from the squad. He’s been for sale, but nobody has as of yet met their valuation. He’s still there because he has a contract, and has played recently because they have had injuries. Klopp doesn’t play him just because he wants to share minutes around his squad. He does not feature at all, usually. Jesse is likely to start any given game for us. Origi has been available for about two years since they decided he wasn’t good enough.
I'm one of his harshest critics. But to be fair to him, it's not his fault he gets picked way too often albeit being far from good enough for Manchester United.
Wow! I knew he had no end product but when you put it like that it’s actually a disgrace. I’m no Lingard hater you just have to look at it realistically and in real world Lingard is a player that wouldn’t look out of place in teams which are in relegation scrap. Ole shouldn’t let any sentimentality cloud his view otherwise he will be a goner in no time.
I still thing hes a good player to play the role of park as a third lung in certain games.

I wouldn't. I'd rather give that spot on the bench to Gomes or Greenwood. We need to get rid of him and inject some new and fresh life into the team.

Couple that with the reports the coaching staff aren't happy with a 26 year old spending too much time on his brand and not enough time improving as a footballer. Someone needs to have a serious word with him, it's starting to influence the likes of Rashford negatively.
I don’t see this “third lung-eque” workrate that everyone compares to Park @shamans, where does the idea come from? It is cause we’ve a bunch of lazy fecks now so he looks like he works harder than them at least?
Park would cover an unbelievable distance in a game and stand out for his workrate surrounded by hard workers like Rooney & Fletch. Park would be an unbelievable defensive asset due to that insane workrate.
His pressing and off the ball running is actually really good. Now don't quote me on this and give me examples of other top four clubs and why it's a joke to talk about that when he's so bad with assists and passes. I am just saying, despite the fact he really isn't good enough overall, you can't say he doesn't have good work rate and off the ball pressing creating gaps.
I saw him live vs Arsenal and he was buzzing about all over the pitch constantly moving. It's the sort of stuff you don't always see on camera. There are other players I'd rather see us let go than Lingard yet as long as ole gauntness we get in players such that Lingard wont be in the starting eleven.
Personally, I think he would make a really good bench option and the sort of player you could use in easier games to rest players. Not ever player is going to be a worldie. That said, I wont be too disappointed if he does leave.
I’m watched him live plenty being a ST holder, just as I did Park and Rooney. Lingard runs more than most of our lazy feck forwards (Mata, Martial, Lukuku) but to compare him to Park is absolutely mental in my eyes.
The likes of Park and Rooney put in so much more hard & quality work.
The days of 'Messe Lingod' seem long gone.

What's clever about always leaving the right flank, never keeping width? Makes us easier to defend, easier to focus defending our left side.
He rarely moves in behind defenses, the runs are always in front of the defense, and since he rarely turns with the ball it's not worrying other teams, and I can't see him taming someone out of position.
His mentality on the counter attack is the worst i've seen from a United attacker, his passing is slow and he stops for and waits for the safe ball.
Almost never scores, almost never assists, and long gone is that day at Ewood Park where his movement actually created a goal for others.
Unacceptable performances in a front 3 for Manchester United. In a very flawed team, his replacing in the first eleven is actually the priority for me.

The fact that it gets brought up so often is more of a damning indictment of our other forwards and their lack of movement I’d imagine. There’s nothing special about his movement, it’s just better than others in our side that he’s being compared to.
Yep, that's pretty much it. Nobody else barring maybe Rashford actually has remotely good movement at all. Lingard tends to be able to drift into space between the defensive lines which allows us to break that first line of midfielders and get onto the attack, which is more than the likes of Lukaku, Martial, Sanchez or Mata provide. Well, Mata's movement is decent at actually getting him on the ball, but that's about it. The others don't even provide that.
He is our best finisher:

I thought Lingard did pretty well in the World Cup.
Having a bad second half of the season it must be said, doesn't suit Ole ball at all and looks knackered in the world cup year. Still think he brings something when he is in better form. Like most I don't really think he looks like he should be a regular starter, but in the right games and with enough rest he has more energy than most. Still needs to improve his finishing but we could say that for all of our players

I think he is a likeable personality around the squad, but hes just a mediocre player. If he was a good player people would love him.I mean what he done to Emirates stadium for instance is comedy gold.
He comes across as a likeable bloke in nearly everything I've seen him in (interview wise). I could see how him being a hard-working, likeable person in the dressing room would go a long way to avoiding the chop (never mind being homegrown etc).
And to clarify - I'm not really a fan of him on the pitch. Not good enough for me and at best, a squad player that you'd sell if you got a decent bid for.
It's on the pitch where character is lacking with him. Not good enough for United.
Off the ball work is a prerequisite in modern football but there's effective off the ball stuff and then there's chasing a butterfly type pointless stuff.
Lingaard isn't effective either with or without the ball.
Good to see Ole giving this young player a chance today.
Eder (former Swansea player) also scored in a final. A bigger final than Lingard when he scored for Portugal against France in Euro 2016. I guess you'd sign him too and pair him up with Lingard and have more mediocre players with your flawed reasoning..
