Mount, for better or worse, is probably a goer, but Pickford links are BS, thank God. Absolutely no chance he signs for United. If Everton had been relegated and we were more interested in Raya (seems like Onana or possibly Porto keeper), then maybe JP would sign for Tottenham, but at the price Everton will ask in current circumstances, and the fact that they'll probably sell at least one CM to cover the books, Pickford likely isn't going anywhere at all...
This is paper talk. Every time a goal position for upper level teams has been up for grabs, no-one has went for him. This isn't happening in my opinion thankfully and is just more column fillers. He isnt shit but he is bang average and only good enough for a mid table/relegation battle club - no serious club will look at him and if they do he will flop massively. On top of that he is one of the most dislikable cnuts in the league so no surprise people are calling him shit.
I want De Gea out at all costs, i wouldnt leave him even if he accepted to play for free BUT if its De Gea or Pickford im taking the former any day of the week.
Wouldn’t say he’s average either. He’s a good keeper. Both his stats and performances over the past 2ish years have shown that.
There is a bizarre stance on here at times regarding players. Pickford can (and is) be a good keeper but not be the right fit for United but you’ll have a bunch of eejits posting how crap he is despite probably watching 2 or 3 games of his or highlights of him shouting.
Likely the same eejits that wouldn’t class De Gea as a United legend because of how average he is now.
A player can be not right or not good enough for your club but still be good. Everyone else isn’t automatically crap.

TBF the only time I've 'regretted' having Pickford as England keeper was in the EC final, when set against Donnarumma. It's not general shot stopping that's the issue, although he probably has at least one Joe Hart style area of weakness, but that he just doesn't intimidate takers in the same way as an agile but 6'5 long-wing-spanned type standing between the posts. Maybe Pope would have been better as a ringer for that situation.
Pickford saved two! I'm not a huge fan but the guy couldn't have played any better that tournament.

I must have blanked the saves tbf: I agree that Pickford in general has been very good in competitions for England. Still think that Donnurumma would have had a bigger impact on our takers than Pickford on theirs, just in terms of the psychology (and obviously he won out). Off-topic, but Southgate managed the flow of that game horribly -it was real Ole vs Emery 2021 final vibes, even to point where both Southgate and Ole had better teams but through combination of picks and structural circumstance, technically weaker midfields, and were outdone by very fine but not transcendent coaches, and it was respective coaches faults that it ended up going to penalties in the first place.

Fergie used to do this all the time. He'd sign players from bottom half clubs like Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Alan Smith where initially most people thought 'what the hell does he see in that guy?!' but then he'd turn them into Premier League champions. It's almost as if the top managers are able to get the best out of players who others don't rate. Also, most people would agree that Mount's ceiling is higher than any of those ex-players I mentioned.

To compare ETH to SAF is a blasphemy enough, but to think the situation in early 10s when we had easily the strongest team in England is anyhow comparable to today, when we obviously need to bridge the quality gap between us and teams above us is even more ridiculous in my eyes.
Only good thing I’d expect from Pickford transfer is the end of countless posts about how binning DDG would instantly make our attackers more prolific. Heck, I read here that new GK would mean at least 10 more goals a season

He's not great with ball at feet (he would be better than de gea) but he wouldn't be the improvement eth wants, his shoot stopping, especially long range is poor, he doesn't have the reach, he's poor 1v1 which we get a lot of, while better in the air than ddg he's small and doesn't command his box like a top level keeper should either.
He's just come off the best season in his career. What's to say that's not an anomaly?
