Jose Mourinho- Next destination?

It's obvious IMO, seems to be the worst kept secret in football that Perez likes him and wants him back. There is just no way that José takes over in the middle of the season when Madrid are already out of the domestic cup and potentially 5 points behind Barca with a negative head-to-head record, he's not that type of manager. My guess is Zidane is the caretaker for now and Mourinho will return in the summer. Probably after some squad clearouts, like Pepe and probably Ronaldo, the players Mourinho has fallen out with.
What if Zidane does alright though?

Depends on whether he's willing to wait a couple of months for the Real Madrid job.

I expect that both MUFC and RM will be looking for a coach at the end of this season...if Jose was smart take a few months off to clear his head then take the more favorable option.

Barcelona supporters, no idea why they're called this way though. It's not a denigrating name for them either or anything.
Ok thanks. Will google to see if it's pronounced the same way as another word which is similar looking, but of course from an entirely different culture. Sorry for going off topic..

Good question. But with uncle Flo logic usually goes out the window so I'd guess Zidane will get sacked if he does allright but not allright enough to deliver the CL. :D

apparently he wants to come to United but did not want to come mid-season, also he said no to a Madrid come back offer as he prefers United in the summer.

this guy @diegotorresro being quoted as the source and apparently he was close to Madrid and Jose when he was there.

Thats bollox: his immediate statement after being fired by Chelsea was he did not need rest and was seeking immediate re-employment.

i thought it was reported that his father was seriously ill and he had to go back home to be with him. Maybe that made him change his mind.

His dad was very ill last year (had multiple strokes and brain surgery) but he made a good recovery months before he left Chelsea.

Valencia.
Valencia in the summer.

Mourinho and Peter Lim have been friends for a long time, as Jose said earlier that he knows Lim very well but i don't think this will happen. He will want to go to a team that can challenge for a title immediately. It will be a step down and too big of a challenge. Valencia still a young project. Maybe in 3-5 years time i can see it.

Nah, if anything has been proved in last few weeks, the plan is to install Giggs. We will not deviate from that plan unless we miss out on top 4.

Yes. All the noise from the club seem to point at Giggs, that is one reason why I dont see mourinho hear atleast for now.

Our Woody is very unpredictable to me. The noises coming out of the club seem like we are grooming Giggs for the job and that they don't like Mourinho that much. However, Woody proved before that he can make a panic short term move Galactico style and I would think that Mourinho fits that mould. If not us, his best bet would be PSG for me as none of the other top clubs where he hasn't been already seem to want him. Maybe one of the Italian big boys can be an option as well if they ever can compete financially again.

Who would want him? His last year has been abysmal.

In his last year, he won the title, beating MCFC and the big spending MUFC.

He is amongst the top 3 coaches in World football, so clubs who want to win trophies will definitely want him.
Clubs who want to finish in 4th place, won't be interested. ;)

If beating MCFC and MUFC is something to be proud of shall we give Mark Hughes the job.

Because he didn't take a champions winning team to 16th place.

Burning bridges everywhere he goes. Give it another 5 years and he'll have nowhere left to run.

Times are reporting something similar. Anyone know if Duncan bald castles has said something about this? He is the asslicker of Mou, you can bet on anything castles says regards to this to be true.

This is the article by Duncan castles, who is far up Mourinho's arse. I think this might be very true as i dont think club will trust Ryan giggs yet(thank god for that). Castles will have most info on mourinho so i think its fair to say, this is close to the truth.

jose Mourinho turned down an invitation to manage Real Madrid in order to resume his Premier League coaching career next season. Instead of accepting Florentino Perez's request to replace Rafa Benitez at the Santiago Bernabeu, Mourinho elected to wait for a better vacancy in England – and the opportunity to punish Roman Abramovich for dismissing him for a second time.

Manchester United are seeking a long-term replacement for Louis van Gaal and have approached Mourinho about taking over at Old Trafford. Though the position appeals to the Portuguese, both parties believe that an end-of-season handover of power would be preferable to taking control during the club's current Premier League campaign.

Ed Woodward would like to avoid the embarrassment of sacking the second 'permanent' managerial appointment of his short tenure as United's executive vice-chairman mid-season; particularly as Van Gaal - unlike predecessor David Moyes - was hand picked by Woodward for the role. United's chief executive has encouraged Van Gaal to continue as manager through a debilitating seven-week sequence of results that has seen his team eliminated from the Champions League, while slipping to sixth in the Premier League.

Mourinho, who had a statement issued following his mid-December sacking by Chelsea expressing his readiness for an immediate return to work, is understood to have since accepted that a more sensible strategy is to wait until the summer to take up his next position. Instead of joining a club in the middle of a campaign, Mourinho will have a full preseason to work with his new squad, while planning transfer and other organizational matters well in advance.

Pursuing such a patient approach to securing his next place of employ formed part of the counsel of Mourinho's agent when Chelsea dismissed the man who had led them to the Premier League title just six months previously. Jorge Mendes, who also has a close working relationship with Woodward, was already aware that United's preference was to retain Van Gaal for the rest of this season, while the terms of Mourinho's Stamford Bridge contract ensure that he will continue to be receive an after-tax salary of over £10m for at least one year.

While there is some opposition to Mourinho's appointment amongst the Old Trafford board, the only significant decision makers are the Glazer family, who promoted Woodward into a position of day-to-day executive control upon Sir Alex Ferguson's retire as manager in 2013. Mourinho's appeal to Woodward is clear-cut – enabling the embattled chief executive to present a serial trophy winner to a disgruntled United support, sections of which have already vocally called for the Portuguese's appointment.

Woodward's obsessive focus on commercial revenues and the signing of a 'Galactico' talent would also be served by hiring Mourinho, whose media profile is on a level with prominent player transfer targets such as Cristiano Ronaldo. Mourinho is also a long-term client of United's most important commercial partner, kit manufacturer Adidas.

Mourinho's interest in managing United is a long standing one. He came close to succeeding Ferguson in 2013, engaging in multiple discussions with the club about leaving Madrid for the position, and about how he could combine moving his young family back to London and coaching in Manchester. Plans were put in place for them to have use of a helicopter for trips between the two cities, permitting Mourinho's children to study in the capital. Then Abramovich intervened to invite Mourinho back to Chelsea, allowing his family to live together in London, for an emotional return to a club where he felt he had unfinished business, and forcing United into the rushed appointment of Moyes.

Abramovich's eventual return to type affected Mourinho's decision to decline Perez's invite to return to Madrid, a club with an even more chaotic management structure than Chelsea's. Madrid's president instead turned to B team coach Zinedine Zidane as Benitez's replacement.

Chelsea dismissed the man who had led them to the Premier League title just six months previously.

No mention of the fact that Mourinho's Chelsea were heading for a relegation battle, I see.

Andrew Gaffney?

Dean Gaffney's lesser known brother?

Yeah, strange indeed. Maybe a lot has happened behind the curtains that noone knows about. Didn't Mourinho's father have serious health problems atm? Maybe he wants a bit of a break until the summer at least?
I think this has to be the reason, or we've heard promising noises from Pep. What you said is more likely though, and what i also think is going on. There's no way Van Gaal survives that recent poor run if Mourinho was knocking Ed's door down. I reckon he's asked for a 6 month recharge to get himself and his family straight.

Classic Castles, act like an authority of knowledge on something, say it's all set up for quite a way in the future in football terms (6months), and no one can call him out on it for ages.

Then if it doesn't happen, he can use some revisionism to say Van Gaal did an excellent job so could stay, or make some other sh!T up

Hurry up Jose!

Honestly, I'd love him here but I can't see us going for him unfortunately.

I shall quote your message and show it to Big Bald Dunc (Castles that is!) when he is proven right! You shall then apologise to him! ;)

I'll gladly kiss his shiny head Blanc/Barthez style if he's right!

Yes, "F*ck off, Mourinho" really does sound like a job offer.

Wow, what a terrible article that is

I doubt there's much truth in it concerning ourselves anyway - I expect LVG will get his final year before retirement and the hand-over to Giggs will then be completed.

Where Mourinho does actually end-up might be interesting - my guess is the longer he goes without a juicy job offer, the more we will see of similar media articles linking him to us in the hope of flushing-out a genuine job offer.
