fecking hell is that what he said? If so you've missed the most important thing, where he says 'the NEW Manchester United'. Is he trying to distance himself what he wants to do from what he inherited? Sounds like it to me, in which case I personally strongly approve, though I'm not sure everyone will.

The third way.

From now on we will only be referred to in any official communications as New Manchester United.

The result will be that we are generally popular, until we feck it up by invading Iraq.

I wonder if Mata joining will benefit De Gea - the two seem to be very good friends. Obviously that will benefit Mata settling in, but might it also give De Gea a bit of extra motivation and confidence? People are always more confident around close friends etc...

Does anyone have that picture of Mata in a red shirt signing a United shirt?????

Need it ASAP please!

I get suspicious everytime players refer to us as a "massive club" and always think they're taking the piss. All those years taking the piss out of City's ruined that word for me.

Usually they say thanks for everything and all the best but you can tell that he is extremely grateful for everything and everyone at Chelsea. He hasn't come out and tried to win us fans over by expressing a life long love for United, he has just been extremely professional and respectful to both sides.

Yeap. This definitely strikes a chord with me. Good guy. He's not Robbie Keane, that's for sure.

That seven shirt was from twitter long, long before he ever arrived at our training ground.

Our record signing and such a good player should get 7 though.

Thats why I posted it. Another one of his "gems"

I genuinely don't know, i don't usually follow the twitter thread. I'm guessing he's a well known bullshitter then?

Juan Mata lads and lassies. Juan Mata. The one player in the league I'd have signed if I was given the choice. Fantastic signing and fantastic signals from Moyes about our intentions for the future. Would love another big signing this month, but even if it's not to be, we've done great business here. United signing genuine world class players. Great to see.

Still can't believe he's ours. It'll be amazing to see him in a red shirt on Tuesday.

It would except it isn't on TV and streams will be impossible to find. :(

Hold on, stupid question incoming, is Mata eligible for CL? I've no idea if he played in that competition for Chelsea.

I agree, but he was handed a squad with a lot of work to be done. Some player are in decline bacause of their age and others are just not good enough. He also struggled to find a formation and had to get to know the players. I think he was maybe suprised to see that not all the players he had was as good as he thought.

Next season will show. Then there is no excuses, but I for one is very optimistic about the future.

I totally disagree he thought like that, or if he did, it's totally his own fault in not retaining the backroom staff. I think he's naive in thinking any coaches can coach a team of Champions and with the departure of Sir Alex who has been an extraordinary maestro at United for 26 years, he could not have single-handedly managed. I think he secretly regretted the decision. But then there is no doubt he wants to build his own legacy.

If this is truly what he said I am pleasantly surprised. A welcome change from the passive way of speaking we've been accustomed to under Moyes.

Definitely. There's no doubting that he's good enough to wear it and it won't affect him. He'll be an Eric type of number 7.

Eric type of Number 7 was very unique and can't be easily replicated. It is a very big question mark any world top player has similar effect Eric had on United. Not even CR7

After watching that interview on the United website, a few thoughts of mine.

1. I'm utterly in love with this guy already, and questioning my sexuality.
2. His English is superb, and as many have already says, he comes across as a throughly nice, humble, modest chap. And that post on his website, praising Chelsea and their fans, very classy.
3. The beard
4. De Gea  What a guy. Very touching scenes with that hug, and the texting! Genius Dave. We should now be looking to create our own Spanish Armada, use these guys to recruit the likes of Koke, Saul Niguez and Oliver Torres.
5. The final, and most important point - Juan Mata is a Manchester United player. As in, he plays for us now. He's a top-class player, who used to play for Chelsea, where I assumed he would be for a long time. Maybe move to Madrid, Barca, PSG for big money. But no, now he plays for us. It's going to take a few days for that to sink in fully (like it did with RVP). What a lift this is going to be for everyone associated with Manchester United

What a lovely down to earth fella. Its impossible not like this dude & that letter he posted to Chelsea fans was superb. Proper class all round. They know what they are gonna miss & his humbleness & affection for them, will retain his legend-status at the Blues - much the same as we regard Ronnie. The game needs more folk like those two lads.

If he had of went to Liverpool or Shitty - he'd be a cuntbag tho

Here, it isnt good quality, but better than nothing. You'll need to turn your volume up a good bit:

God I love him already.

Also why does Moyes look like Smeagle there? His eyes are so bulgy and look like they will pop out anytime!

He looks like Vincent Chase

Can't wait to see him on Tuesday, it'll be a massive lift to everybody associated with the club, hopefully the player mostly.

Honestly, maybe it's a sign, but I usual can't stomach players at our competitors, but I always thought Mata was a decent bloke when he was interviewed. Delighted.

Two players that I always couldn't help but admire from rival clubs were van Persie and mata. Who would have thought they'd both be here now? He genuinely seems like a great guy as well as being a great footballer. Mourinho even praised him recently for how professional he's been over everything, not going public about anything, not throwing a strop at the lack of minutes and all that. Great to have him here.
