I think there's every chance that he will come out soon. Would be great for the club and professional football.

 It's not the first time I've heard someone suggest he might be gay. He's not though, he's been pictured in the papers a few times with a girlfriend.

The best way to start your week? A Juan Mata blog entry of course.

Hi Everyone!

I’m writing today’s post from my home. And this time I’m talking about Asturias, where I grew up and where my family and friends live. It is a real pleasure for me to come to my country, something I do every time I can! Perhaps the worst thing about living abroad is not being able to be with the ones I truly love as my grandparents, uncles, cousins… Now, every time I come I make the most of every single minute and try to spend as much time as I can with them!

I also could go and watch Real Oviedo beat Guijuelo at home. They played a great match and I hope this can be the year of promotion! Definitely, this weekend has been great for me to recharge the batteries towards the rest of the season although the week hasn’t been that easy.

After last weekend’s win against Crystal Palace, we could not win on Champions suffering a painful loss in Greece. Moreover, as I can’t play Champions I had to watch the match at home and suffered as I couldn’t help! Nevertheless, although it’ll be difficult, I think we can comeback at Old Trafford with an incredible atmosphere thanks to our fans.

This training week has been awesome and even funny… I’ve even been able to participate on a challenge with my Bwin friends from the corner Kick !

A thrilling month is starting with five Premier games against important rivals such as Liverpool or Manchester City. We do know it is a crucial month to climb up positions on the League Table and we are going to give our best to try and win every single match.

I told you before that I came to Asturias, precisely because we didn’t play this weekend as Manchester City had to play the Capital One Cup Final. But La Liga did have plenty of matches, and what matches! I have to highlight Aduriz on the victory of Athletic and obviously the Madrid Derby that ended up with a 2-2. It was an emotional encounter, tight until the end, leaving an open race for the title between these two teams and Barcelona.

Nothing else for today, thanks a lot to everyone for all your loving and support! I’m very happy enjoying what I really like to do, playing football and trying to get better and getting over challenges every day, which I think is what life is all about! A posteriori, rewards taste better ;-)

A big hug,

Juan

PS: A couple of days ago Paco de Lucía passed away. Without a doubt, he was one of the greatest guitarists in history. Here, I share with you one of his best songs.

A big hug right back at you... future best friend.

Pleased for him, he has been very good and settled in quite well. However, I think it shows the situation we are in when performances like his are player of the month material. Not that he has been poor, as I said, he has done well but I wouldn't say he has been great yet, mainly down to the way he has been used.

Absolutely agree. It shows the bar has been set pretty low. He's been good but he's hardly been moving mountains.

Can't believe he was just casually walking around Chester city centre the other day!

His direct attacking was off, but those simple lovely weighted passes from Mata and Carrick to tie things together really helped open things up. It's unlike us to score 2 from open play!

I thought he was pretty off in the first half; it just wasn't coming off for him. But by the end, there were a couple of little flicks and turns that just oozed class (haven't used that term in a while...)

I love RVP, and if it were up to me, I'd keep him over Rooney, but given that we've decided that Rooney is in the long-term plans, I think it's time to play Mata in his proper position behind Rooney. I'd also love to find a way to get Kagawa in that lineup, but that's a discussion for a different thread.

New blog... No hugs this week... clearly he means business!

Hi everyone!

I’m writing to you at the end of a bright, relaxed Sunday. Spring is around the corner and you can notice It: we’ve had quite a bit of sun and the weather forecast for this week looks good. Plus our win on Saturday. No wonder I feel optimistic!

That 0-3 at West Brom was really important. I’m talking about the three points, of course, but also about the performance. We saw samples of what the team is capable of, and we got very positive feelings. I enjoyed myself on the pitch and at the end of the day that’s what you want when you play football. At all levels.

I would like to highlight our three consecutive clean sheets in the Premier League. It’s important for our work not to concede, that eventually wil take us closer to our goals. In order to reinforce that we have a great challenge ahead this coming weekend: Liverpool at Old Trafford.

The so-called North West Derby is always a big game in England, even more this season if you look at the Premiership table. At this stage, every match is important. There are less and less games to play and we want to get all the points. I hope we continue to play the way we did last week and delight the fans.

During the week I’ll try to have some time to get to know better this area of England. Last week I’ve been to Chester and I liked it very much. I was amazed by its medieval buildings and the Roman wall. I found plenty of spots to take nice photos.

Also this week I had the honour to receive the Manchester United Player of the Month award. It means a lot to me because the fans are the ones who voted. I want to thank all of you, this gives me so much confidence. I hope it will be the first of many ;-)

In other competitions, Barcelona’s defeat at Valladolid was remarkable. It shows once more that in the big leagues every team is tough. Atlético did their job against Celta, a very interesting team, whereas Real Madrid once more showed their potential beating Levante and still top of the league.

In Germany, Bayern keep winning games by a wide margin and it seems they will be the first champion of the season.

That’s It for this week. Thank you once again for always being there and for following me, I’ll never stop saying that.

Juan

I'd go to Chester with you Juan, we can call in at the Zoo.

Short Mata compilation. Didn't include most of his great passes - will have a separate video for them later this week hopefully.

I don't think he's been great, but the difference between him and Kagawa is quite clear IMO.

Meh. Been a bit of a nothing player for us so far plus a nice little flick or touch here and there.

Hope he does not go down the Ozil road for us.
