Jurgen Klopp Sack Watch

All of my family are big Liverpool fans as well as a good portion of my friends (I was brought up in between Liverpool and Manchester). Apart from the weekend result, this season has been pretty glorious so far. I've not had so much fun since "The Slip" year.

Klopp is a nut job, people far overestimate "Personalities" in management.
 
What happened yesterday wasn't down to Klopp's tactics. The first goal was a collective show of singular ineptitude by 3/4 of that backline. Lovren loses sight of Kane, but somehow(intentionally or not) ends up ahead of him. Matip sees it and decides to play the offside trap, only he doesn't call Gomez, who's slow to read and react and ends up playing Kane onside. Than Lovren gives up on the play, Matip decides to stand still whinging his d*ck instead of playing and Gomez is again slow to react

All that from a throw in, with 5 liverpool players around the ball vs 2 spurs. Liverpool effectively defended that throw in the way they should, they managed to create the situation they wanted, AND STILL MANAGED TO FECK IT UP
 
I think rather than buying anyone else apart from VVD he thought of going it the way it is and waiting for him till january. The thing is if they are not in a decent position VVD might just go to chelsea/city in january. I think he made a big big mistake then, but on the other hand they have played every big team above them apart from chelsea so they have to play mid table clubs where they can get some wins. I think everyone is aware of their defensive frailties and will go for them which will in most of these games play into their hands. They play Huddersfield at home i think next which will be an easy win after they got their game of the season out of the way against us.

Who trusted Lovren to play this game? End of the day it's all on coach as he picks the teams and he trains them.

Yes, it beggars belief that we set up so conservatively against so fragile a defence.
 
At what point does this guy start to be under pressure? One draw and loss for us and the media and neutrals have all been shitting on Mourinho. Liverpool have had the same issues for a long time and have something like 2 wins in their last 9 or 10 games. Astonishing that no one is asking questions of this guy yet.

I think that's down to poor finishing more than poor football. We should've sold Coutinho and spent the money on a CB and a striker who could manage 20 goals.

His carreer so far has shown that he has no plan B at all. When all went to shits at Dortmund he had no idea what to do. The prenny dropped as well back then but he couldn't change anything and went. Will be interesting to see whether he manages to change his approach.
 
Of course that goal would never have happened if he was a player, because then they would have had someone else managing them instead

Agree. We didn't need to push up to the half way line or anything. But we could have easily taken them on in an intelligent way the way Spurs did. Staying solid whilst attacking teams is possible.

This is not true I think. They've scored 14 goals this season I think (4 vs Arsenal, 3 vs Leicester and watford, 1 vs palace, Spurs, Burnley and Newcastle). Surely there would've been seasons when they scored fewer.

EDIT: Just checked- they scored 8 in the first 9 in 15-16 season

Would Liverpool fans have taken a Mourinho style defensive game and 0-0 yesterday instead of the 4-1 thrashing?

I know you can't play that way at Liverpool but just curious.

It's not just a problem of not having a plan B, but that his plan A has obvious flaws. During his time in Dortmund this was already discussed. He was very reluctant to adopt a different style despite all the problems. I remember that he even doubled down in the summer before his last season in Dortmund (~"we'll go back to our strength/roots= more pressing"), which was a weird thing to do.
By far the most bizarre thing he is doing currently, is his midfield selection.
In Dortmund he usually relied on a DM (kehl/bender), a cm (Sahin/gündogan) and a OM (Kagawa/lewa/Götze/Miki). That gave the team a natural balance, even when he struggled to organise certain aspects of the game.
Now he often relies on three CMs/runners/workhorses to play in midfield (or two + coutinho). Those players clearly lack the natural instincts to create balance and would need a lot more coaching to make it work. This seems to be deliberate. He sold the only DM (Lucas) and went after keita, who is just a better version of Henderson/Can.
The lack of quality is one thing, but this Liverpool team is set up in an extremely one dimensional way. I doubt that this is a good idea regardless of the squad (obviously the team would be a lot better with another competent CB, a good GK and a proper LB.)

He threw himself under the bus. He needed subbing off because his head had gone. Afterwards Klopp tried to mitigate it within reason ("it could have been any of them").

Since when is subbing a player who has been utterly appalling "throwing him under the bus"? Do your job and it won't happen.

Yeah, seen the interview after. If I'm honest this is the first time he seemed proper shaken afterward. Could've handled it better.

Guess he was really shaken. I don't think many expected that but then Lovren's meltdown was something else and I doubt any team could have recovered their poise after that. I literally couldn't believe what I was seeing from him. He absolutely needed to be removed. Klopp said they tried another tactic but that didn't work either, he was quite honest in his appraisal.

Never mind a striker. You should have sold Coutinho and bought in 2 CB's and a new 'keeper. You'd be a far better team for it. Pride got in the way of your club selling Coutinho and you're suffering for it.

Bullshit. Your club took the stance they aren't a selling club that is going to get bullied by the big boys. Turning down in excess of £100m for Coutinho was ridiculous.

Some could say it would‘ve been possible if you had prepared for this possible situation by at least having some targets set up. But I suppose plan B doesn‘t seem to be found anywhere at your club.
