Strange that you would get that feeling when they are about to sell their best player AGAIN.
Klopp has been there well over 2 years now and they are still no closer to challenging for the title than they ever were and they will struggle to make top 4 now that Countino is jumping ship, I expect Salah to follow him out the door this summer also.

Off topic for a second, I missed both games tonight but I heard that Liverpool's penalty shouldn't have been given and that Firmino may have racially abused Holgate, what's your take on these incidents?

Exactly my point about the bigger sides knocking them down a peg. Hopefully Salah will leave too, the hope is they don't replace Coutinho adequately. They might not be closer, but it honestly doesn't take long to get a side go click. Van Djik is a massive signing by them given their defence frailties.

Didn't see the pen as I missed the first half and know nothing about the racial abuse.
 
Was a penalty all day long for me. His arm wrapped around Lallana like he wanted to dance with him. Most players will drop when they feel an arm around them like that in the box and defenders know it so poor defending to say the least. All the BBC pundits including Lineker said it wasn't a penalty. Sadly it appears Shearer got a ton of vile tweets on twitter (some about his family) for his opinion given that he claims that the Lovren penalty in the previous fixture between the clubs was a penalty.

Similar to Bellerin ---> Hazard, Lovren ----> Calvert-Lewin

Holgate had hold of him, Lallana can't wait to fall over. Very difficult for the referee.

They're all soft but at least it's consistent. Bad defending.

This. I had Fox on (no option) and they all thought it was a penalty. If the various commentators can not concur then you can understand how difficult it is for a referee on the spot. However CL prevented Lallana from going for the ball so that is enough. Soft but there it is, poor defending.

This is exactly why we have referee's. Whether we agree with the decisions or not, the decision falls onto one person's shoulders. If every decision was up for debate by committee, it'd be chaos!

Never a penalty. Shearer is nuts if he thinks Lovren's was and this wasn't though

As for the Firmino-Holgate incident, i dunno about racial abuse, but if i were the ref i'd have looked the other way and told Firmino to crack him in the jaw. Holgate should have been sent off for that
 
Loved the fact that the pen was a dodgy one. Everton will be seething about that no doubt :lol:

Can see these beating Citeh at Anfield and Klopp will be lauded as the messiah once more for being the first team to beat the invincibles.

I get the feeling City have peaked this season and will ever so slightly start taking their foot off the gas a little, given their mammoth points lead.

Significantly though, the 5-0 at the Ethiad was probably a more accurate reflection of the difference in class at the moment. You can point to the Mane sending off in that game, but City were going to win it comfortably enough anyway for me.

Liverpool are a similar level to ourselves at the moment. Albeit with two managers who incorporate totally different tactics.

Maybe but we'd had a few really good chances to score before Mane was sent off. I think it was 1-0 at the time but we certainly weren't being outclassed. Salah had missed 2 or 3 by that point and after the sending off, he didn' really get much more service. The worrying thing for me in that match was how we capitulated after a forward was sent off. If it had been a defender, it would have made a bit more sense. Hopefully there's 22 men left on the pitch at the end next week and the result can be looked at more objectively.

Come on, be real mate. That was a very soft and generous pen. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining but it was as soft as the one they were awarded last time out against us.
 
Dodgy pen last night; but probably makes up for the other slightly dodgy one they conceded against Everton 2 weeks prior. Swings and roundabouts.

I dislike Liverpool of course, but that is nonsense. It was pretty even at the sending off stage. No sane person would say 5-0 was an accurate reflection of their class!

This isnt a case of two players running for the ball and they're tussling.

Lallana beats Holgate and so Holgate grabs him. Thats a penalty.

The only thing is that Lallana goes down a bit too easily. So soft yes, but still a pen.

Just opinions I guess. I've seen both were pens and both weren't.
No idea what to do with it given the inconsistency from referee to referee and even from the same ref game to game!
Sooner a sophisticated VAR comes in the better.

Liverpool fans can be hilarious at times. When Calvert-Lewin went down under Loverns challenge the cry from the Liverpool fans was 'never a pen, its a contact sport, feck sake, refs a joke, mancs paying the refs again, la'

Now after Lallana went over under Holgate's challenge (which was less a pen than Loverns) we are now hearing 'stone wall penalty, he grabs him, great decision ref, la'

You're an amusing bunch.

More realistically he could leave for Bayern/Real, specially bayern who have a job opening. Real may as well have one by january next season, if they do not improve and zidane ibuckles under pressure.

Like hell City would let Pep leave or he joined us with how much he downplayed us since joining L'pool. You never know with Chelsea (FSW), but Chelsea doesn't look so ambitious atm with recent signings and Harzard & Coutois situation

That would be completely out of character. He will still stay loyal to Liverpool for a good while.
 
Klopp seems a fairly loyal character so I'm not so sure he would ever go to Bayern or Utd. I could see him going to another country - maybe to Spain, Italy or France but hopefully after he at least sees out his current contract. He also seems to like clubs a tier or two below the top, where he can build something, so maybe clubs like Athletico, Napoli or even Valencia would be attractive to him.
 
Christian Purslow (self proclaimed 'Fernando Torres of finance') is a figure of derision and was hounded out of the club along with Hicks and Gillett. He also said LFC should replace Coutinho with Veratti.

I'm not really sure how much longer he'll be managing after us. He's always said he doesn't see himself managing in to his 60s.
If I had to hazard a guess I'd say he'll return to Germany for one last stint possibly if he doesn't retire.
