If it was so clear then why did no other top club come in for him at £8m which is a steal in this market? We need a left back badly. City decided to spend £50m on Mendy. Chelsea ended up paying more for Emerson later in the season.
It's the type of bargain signing we should be making & Robertson has improved since last year as his performances in the CL have shown.
If they end this «amazing» season in 4th and lose the final against Real Madrid, it will be a very bad season. Nobody remembers who finishes 2nd, absolutely no-one. If the win, well, that’s another story. Out if contention in the league before Christmas, out of the domestic cups before it got close to being interesting.

I wouldn't call us getting to the UCL final and losing a very bad season.
Klopp has improved us every year he's been here, hopefully a good spending spree this Summer will see us improve even further. I don't see how the previous 12 years has any effect on Klopp's tenure.
I think you'd be hard pressed to find a Liverpool fan who is "alarmed" about how the club is progressing at the moment, more excited than anything

There are numerous great sides that will be remembered for the way they entertained, although they fell short in terms of winning trophies.
On the opposite, I am shocked every time I get remembered that Italy won the WC in 2006. My brain is suppressing this fact very effectively.
That’s nonsense, if they get to the CL final and finish in the top 4 it’ll have been a decent season at least. Not sure how anyone could argue otherwise.

Do you guys not think it’s just good management? Protecting his player etc... something we’ve been missing a lot over the last few years.
We may have had some refereeing decisions go our way but sometimes a team needs that, but don't act like you didn't get an easy tie playing Sevilla too. Can we also say that if Chelsea and Arsenal were any better they'd be challenging United too?
Finishing top 4 and reaching a CL final is a decent enough season by anyones standards, but is that enough for Liverpool and their fans? We're talking about a football that pride themselves on an insatible ambition to win trophies, specifically that which has eluded them for near on 3 decades - the Holy Grail, the end goal, the Premier League title - and if this season is anything to go by they are no closer to reaching that goal now than they were 25 years ago. Klopp has brought Liverpool no closer to the title than any manager before him since Dalglish was running the club (the first time of course)
Does anyone believe winning the CL would bring Liverpool closer to attaining that coveted league title? Personally I do not. Much like Crystanbul, winning this years CL would amount to nothing more than a welcome side-attraction, whilst priority numero uno remains firmly under lock and key in Manchester (the blue half are keeping it warm for us reds right now) and will remain that way for the foreseeable future.

Under Rodgers, in his one CL campaign at Liverpool, he failed to get out of the group stage, winning just one game against Ludogorets. In the only two knockout ties he managed at Liverpool, both in the Europa league - he lost both ties. That is just a really bad record.
In comparison, Klopp took Rodgers’ team to the europa final, and now in his first CL campaign there, has them in the semi final. The contrast is massive.
Rodgers only managed to finish top 4 in 1 season, if they finish top 4 this season, as they have a good chance too, then Klopp will have done it in both his full seasons at the club.
It makes zero sense to think somehow he isn’t doing better than Rodgers.
And I see some little comments trying to belittle what he did in Dortmund
What he did for Dortmund was unbelievable. Our club was not in the best place he took over, he had no money to work with for years here, having to break even most summers, yet he and Michael Zorc built some of the most beloved and best teams in our history, playing fantastic football. Putting Dortmund back on the map in Europe, that was HIS doing more than anyone else. He united a whole club, and took us to a level we never ever imagined possible when he was appointed. There’s a reason Dortmund suddenly became once again popular to like a few years ago, and that reason was him, he did that. It can not be underestimated the profound effect he had on the club.
I know you guys are rivals, and that’s cool of course, but he is one of the best coaches in Europe, he really is. He doesn’t do things the easy way, never has, never will. And for those asking why no other club came in for him, plenty did. He stayed loyal to Dortmund for a while when he could have left. But when he did leave, he was only ever going to go to a select few clubs. He wouldn't have ever gone to places like City, or Chelsea given the chance, those clubs would be of no interest to him. A club like Liverpool suits him well.

Ridiculous. We're overjoyed. We need regular CL football again, it hasn't happened since we had Benitez and that's where we desperately want to be. Not many fans (that I know of at least) realistically expect or demand to win the PL title. I think a lot of Man Utd fans make the mistake of thinking we have the same ambitions they do - that we should somehow be disappointed to not win the league even though we're having one of our best seasons in 20 years. To us getting Cl football is actually a big deal after all those terrible years after Benitez. The fact that we're close to getting into a CL final is pretty insane.
On top of that we play way more entertaining football than we ever did under Benitez. We've scored five goals or more vs every CL opponent we've met this season. Klopp has transformed us into a team to be feared again.

lets not downplay their CL efforts, its been sickening watch them smash City and Roma
Would it be enough for this season? Yes it would because the progress within the team can clearly be seen on the pitch, and as long as there is progress then fans will generally accept that even if it brings no trophies with it for a little while.
Remember it was only last summer that most folk on here gave us no chance of competing in the league and Europe, saying we wouldn't cope with all the midweek football. It was a valid concern but Klopp has juggled what still remains only an average squad when it comes to depth, particularly behind the front 3.
Slowly but surely the quality of our first 11 has improved to a level where you can say that if we win the Champions League it'll be throrougly deserved in light of our performances all the way through it so far.
We've still got lots of things to work on and improve, and, being honest, if City keep on like they are then neither of us will be getting close to what we really want to win.
Of course we all want that elusive league title, as I'm sure you do after going 5 years without it yourselves now. The Champions League would be a hell of a consolation prize though if we manage to pull it off!
They literally won the treble the very next year and would have won the league and cup + a Champions League final appearance in 2012 but for Klopp, who beat them in the league and then orchestrated an annihilation in the cup final.
He could win the Treble and I would still think he’s a lucky Cnut who is an annoyance..

8 seperate managers (including King Kenny's ill-fated second stint) have come and gone from the Liverpool hotseat prior to the arrival of Jurgen the German, and each of them had achieved a high league finish at various stages of their respective tenures. Just like Prophet Klopp. What has he achieved in his 3 years at the club that a great many before him did not also achieve? Note I am speaking in terms of domestic success or lack thereof.
No disrespect intended mate but no one cares what he achieved with Dortmund.
Feared by whom? The only team of note you have beaten in the competition thus far is City and even their European pedigree leaves much to be desired. Liverpool have had a relatively easy ride to date. Facing either Bayern or Real in the final is an entirely different kettle of fish by comparison to your previous opponents.
Why should people care what Mourinho did at Porto and Inter then? Or any other manager's work outside of England?
Both Porto and Inter won the CL under Mourinho, on top of repeated domestic success.
Klopp has never had European success at any stage of his managerial career.

If Klopp reaches the CL final, he has done well regardless of whether he wins it or not. Not sure how the same people can praise Jose for his achievements this season while downplaying Klopp's. 2nd in the PL and an FA Cup finalist, compared to 3rd in the PL and most likely a CL finalist.
Yes, you're right. No one remembers Holland in '74 and '78, absolutely no one.
Bayern struggled in 2010/11 after the World Cup - many injured players and the bench was not comparable to today. It got better in the second part of that season when they won 4 points more than Dortmund - but not enough to get ahead. But they didn't struggle in 2011/12. The 73 points Bayern reached then would have been enough points to win the league in most of the Bundesliga seasons before.
In 11/12 in the winter break Bayern led with 37 points - 3 points ahead. Dortmund was out of Europe then and after the winter break had a run with 15 wins and 2 draws. The 81 points they reached then were 2 points more than the team that had been best in history before - the Bayern team of 71/72 with Beckenbauer, Müller, Meier had.
Klopp at that time said one sentence that is very important for some of us Bayern fans since then:
Concerning points and goals - more is not possible. 81 points - I will look back in twenty, thirty years and always will see Uli Hoeneß, Franz Beckenbauer, Sepp Maier - all this guys on rank 2 of the "eternal ranking".
It is not just the quality of the Bayern team that changed in the following years - and it is not that there were so many changes from that to the next year. But the mentality changed (and that held until now). Bayern ended the 12/13 season with 91 points - and with one win in the next three matches will send Klopp's 11/12 team on rank 6 of the "eternal ranking"... (only one season since then - the 14/15 season - ended with less points - 79).
Klopp's BVB or Wolfsburg in 14/15 maybe would have beaten the Bayern teams prior to 2012 - but not the ones afterwards.

Liverpool: needed an upgrade on Moreno and wasting Milner at left back
Manchester City: Pep had already identified Mendy as a priority signing
Manchester United: Had Shaw back again fit with both Young and Blind as cover
Spurs: Davies and Rose on the books
Everton: Baines, Jonjo Kenny, Martina
Leicester: Fuchs, Chirlwell

They didn't "just decide". Pep identified Mendy as a priority signing whilst Hull were still comfortably a premier league team.
Because they missed out on their priority target Alex Sandro who they had even targeted the summer before they were EPL champs again
We would have last summer if we had needed him them. Of that I have little doubt. I wont be surprised if we bought a Bertrand like that this summer if Southampton go down....
I don't really agree. He was this kid at Hull, just in a much worse team. Liverpool has finally given him the type of platform for people to really notice him. What Klopp has given him is belief that this is his real level of team and stage.

So credit to Klopp then. As I said originally. Robertson has come in and looks improved since he wasn't playing to this level when at Hull. The Man City performance at Anfield in the league back in January was superb, inparticular. He seems to be getting cult like status amoung pool fans.
I take your point on the others clubs, the main point of my original post was how Klopp has improved the players mentioned. And all of them now appear to be bargains. And at the time hardly any caf posters made a big fuss about Robertson, Salah, Mane etc.
No, as I said United were always best of the rest with regards to the league and I wasn't talking about United in Europe, United's terrible failures in Europe this season has nothing to do with the luck Liverpool have had.

So wrong about our left back situation last summer - Shaw still wasn’t back from terrible injury, it was already known that Mourinho doesn’t fancy Blind, and Young hasn’t proven himself in that position yet. So, if anything, we needed a new left back then at least as much as now.
It’s a wonderful signing by Klopp, no two ways about it.
Reach a final with a Dortmund side that not go into a final since the 97' is called all but no a failure.
And again, he took the team of Brendan Rodgers and reach a final of EL. Now, is 90 mins away of making back Liverpool in a CL final.
Sucess is not only visible when you win trophys.
