I think Jose is spot on. He basicaly said that Klopp gets away with lot of crap, and has no pressure from fans or media because he is such a lovely guy who smiles all the time. He spends lot of money, no one talks about it, he has all sorts of excuses when losing a game, becomes passionate man, he has zero trophies in 3 years, has no pressure, next year,blah. Everybody loves him. Even his singing after losing CL final was found fantastic stuff. Can you imagine reactions if that was Mourinho jumping and singing 8,9 hours after defeat in CL final?

What a load of biased crap, Rafa played defensive football but nowhere near the same as Simone. We never said we played amazing football under him, or Hodgson even under Kenny the football wasn't amazing. Rodgers the season with Suarez was amazing to watch don't you agree?

The pressure has been on United for decades simply because of your success, and there's less on us due to the lack of success it's pretty obvious if you want to see it

So what happens then if both sides end the season without a trophy but Liverpool do better in the league - finish 2nd to City for example - would Jose's 2 trophies already won mean he'd be under less pressure than Klopp ? I personally don't think it would. After all, LVG was sacked 2 days after winning the FA Cup with United. So winning silverware is great for us fans, but in the grand scheme of things, those who pull the strings at our respective clubs obviously have different priorities. The pressure on both managers will come from on how both perform in the league. Your previous manager is living testimony to that fact.

If we finish 4th and win nothing this season I can see Jose leaving whereas if Klopp finishes 4th and wins nothing again I don't think Klopp would leave Liverpool.

You've won so little for so long the pressure at Liverpool isn't the same. I'm not sure why some Liverpool fans are arguing against that.

Mourinho is where he is now because he has a 15 year record of antagonizing everyone, building up a swathe of abominable high profile incidents and celebrating his own arrogance all the while. Mourinho burnt his bridges with the press years ago. And so as our incumbent manager, our problems are exacerbated by emboldened journalists who'll take any opportunity they can to stick the knife in. We all know the football press like a media darling, Klopp and Guardiola are the current beneficiaries.

Nice to be back after a Summer break. Heres the part of Jose's interview I found most interesting/disturbing:

I personally manage people at my job and I'm sure a lot of you guys here do as well. The highlighted part sounds really toxic if you ask me. First of all employees holidays should be respected, especially a footballer who doen't have the option of postponing their vacation. This is the only time of year they get off. Not to mention that its important for their physical recovery and therefore performance next season (one can reasonably assume). So guilting him in front of the whole world to come back to work, on top of the Luke Shaw stuff, and the quite frankly horrible incident with the female doctor at Chelsea, thats just, well Jose for you. I honestly don't know how a player can perform well for a manager who would compromise them like this, no wonder the players look miserable.

Thats why we are currently happy with Klopp, good vibes all round for the most part.

Klopp has been the man they wanted since about 2011/2012. He was seen as the perfect candidate that's there this playing down of him being under pressure comes from. People laughed at it before but suddenly seem to have forgotten how long we've spent in the doldrums and how little we've won recently. The only way Klopp comes under pressure is if he doesn't finish in the top 4 minimum. He is their man.

Personally I think we should challenge and win a cup of any kind. I don't think we have enough attacking depth to win the title unfortunately. If we had a Fekir type in I'd be much more confident.
As it stands the drop off between our 1st choice attackers and first choice rotation options is much too big. Over the course of a season that will show, hell you can see it now how one paced we look when we don't have pace to stretch in behind.

08/09 aside, Benitez didn't really do much in the league. He was as much of a cup manager as you think Klopp is. Weirdly though for a cup manager, Klopp's domestic cup record in England is relatively poor.

I mean Klopp's record in general is pretty poor compared to Benitez. Klopp doesn't actually have a season like 08/09 to come back to, and has lost 3 finals already.

Klopp is a cup manager because that's all he has, his league performances have not been anything to write home about. Everything Klopp has done with Liverpool has been bettered by Benitez except for the excitement factor.

I wouldn't ever call a Rafa side swashbuckling, except for those four months in 2009. And you could be sure that away from home against big teams he'd set out to keep a clean sheet. But unlike houllier (and mourinho at times as well), we always had a proper attacking plan for those games, even if it was a restricted one. It was having an actual attacking plan on top of a strong defence that made him miles better than houllier.

Still, there were many games in the league where we could have benefited from an extra attacking player instead of having both alonso and Mascherano holding behind Gerrard in the second midfield line with the wingers. Ultimately, I think a more swashbuckling approach in the league would have worked better.

Tactically I think houllier and mourinho are pretty much cut from the same cloth. Mourinho obviously much better in the execution department.

Yeah this is fair enough. Simeone is an excellent defensive coach and arguably the most defensive top-level manager currently. He is more defensive than I remember Benitez being.
