I'd say I was simply putting an alternative viewpoint across. If those sort of things were not accepted on here then people like me would not have been given the opportunity to join the forum, & The Caf would be a Mancunian version of RAWK. By all means challenge my opinions, but don't think that I - a Liverpool supporter - given the right of reply, isn't going to respond to something that I see as an over-reaction based on who Jurgen Klopp is (the manager of Liverpool)

OK this went on a weird tangent. I have no issues with you posting here but my point was, by doing that, you are showing a level of 'caring' that I would never show. It is not necessarily a bad thing but just pointing that out.

I personally like some of Klopp's antics and find him kind of funny but to me running onto the pitch during the game is taking it a bit too far. Either way, whether he gets banned, fined, warned, or patted on the back for his passion, it won't affect me.

OK, how about when Ferguson criticized Benitez for calling Everton a small club (which he didn't btw) only to refer to Man City a few years later as a 'small club with a small-time mentality'

Will that do for starters ?

It's not an overreaction, though. Charging on to the pitch waving your arms about in wild celebration is unacceptable for a manager. It shows a complete lack of respect for the opposition and their support.

That sort of behaviour warrants a misconduct charge any way you slice it.

The reason I post on here - as I've pointed out before - is that I like to be challenged. If I post something on RAWK, chances are the vast majority would agree with me. You know, a bit like my opinion to Klopps antics at our late derby winner.

Ahh, of course. So we aren't allowed to reference Klopp being a hypocrite unless we state that Ferguson was a hypocrite also, is that it? Well Ferguson is not a manager anymore and receives a huge amount of criticism from rival fans. Do I care? No. He had flaws but was the greatest manager of all time (in my opinion). What about the other 92 managers in English association football then, to pick more relevant examples of your bold claim that "all managers are hypocrites"?

City's 'Welcome to Manchester' poster was as small time as small-time gets. They wanted a reaction and they got one.
 
Not as glamorous as last season's attacking salvos but it's working.. something has to be said for consistent clean sheets and victories.

Klopp's reaction to the goal was out of the way, and I think he should get the appropriate punishment for breaching the rules of the game. But the negative reactions to his celebrations are as bewildering as the celebration itself.

I really sense from Klopp's interview that he is feeling the heat. Not because his job is not secure, but he knows that he has to win something and something substantial this season. He has been at Liverpool for more than 3 years now, and have won Zilch, lost 3 vital finals. Did not give due diligence to FA cup.

He is defending the ultra-cautious and sometimes ugly football of his team, which is unprecedented. He has completely done a 180 degree from playing the right way because he knows he has to win. He himself said so after Watford game. Today's celebration was another proof of what's going on his mind now.

People always talks about last season's champions league run, but they often forget that Liverpool came through from probably the easiest group, and that too with a win on the final day. That is not going to happen this season, and a Europa schedule beckons. So, I guess Klopp is putting all of his eggs in the PL basket. Unfortunately for him, Guardiola's City is an unstoppable force.

Klopp is under serious pressure to preserve his managerial legacy and these so-called hypocritical actions of him are direct results of that pressure.

Resorting to ad hominem now. And doing so after misconstruing my post also. Well done. That is the mark of someone who can't back their own argument.

For the record, I said that you cannot name an instance where most managers have been hypocritical, not an instance of one manager being hypocritical (and even your example was picked apart by a different poster). That was in response to your bold (and so far unsubstantiated) claim that "all managers are hypocrites". Can you imagine United fans defending Mourinho by saying "all managers insult their players"? It would be a ridiculous defense to his reported treatment of Pogba or any marginalized player. That's equivalent to what you're doing with Klopp when people criticize him for hypocrisy.

I stand by what i said. Klopp is a hypocrite. He's a good manager who is taking Liverpool in the right direction, but he's a hypocrite in my opinion and a sore loser too. And I find him annoying, an annoyance exacerbated by conversations like this.

Today's performance was not as solid as the clean sheet would suggest. Andre Gomes should have scored, and Joe Gomez did a brilliant on-the-line recovery. Van Dijk was not at his best today, as Mina had a really good chance. Everton could have scored 3 in the first half. Of course Liverpool missed lot of chances as well, especially Mane and Shaqiri, but the victory was very fortunate. It will not work every game.

The attacking dilemma is purely down to Klopp. He wants to play 4-2-3-1, but clearly does not trust Shaqiri with his defensive work as a no.10. So, He plays Firmino there which is not Firmino's position. Last season and the season before Klopp tried Firmino in the wings. It failed too. He is putting Salah as the most advanced forward, which is not Salah's position. He can't play 4-3-3 because Keita is erratic and loses too many balls in the middle. Also this team is missing Oxlade-Chamberlain. He may not have been a dribbler like Coutinho, but his acceleration in the final third created space for FMS.

Unless the midfield and forward line bucks up and Klopp knows what is the best line-up, I see a gap opening between City and Liverpool during the festive period.

I agree. Liverpool are not playing well but they are winning. Also to be fair he has changed the teams style which is something I have been critical of him not having a plan B

Deluded Liverpool fans finally being confronted that their team does not contain 11 world class player but only a bunch of average and above average ones and that last years CL run was mostly possible because of a combination of easy opponents, their opponents not knowing how to counter their style (Porto, Roma etc) or them just being stubborn with their approach (Man City) and lastly immense motivational managerial abilities which Klopps possesses.

Even last year Liverpool was facing teams that had the perfect blueprint for their style: low defensive blocks and bypassing of press (long balls). One of those teams was us of course.

But Klopp knew that he couldn't win the league playing his normal game because most of the teams in the PL deploy such tactics, that's why he had to change to a more pragmatic and balanced approach which benefits his defence massively but exposes his midfield and attack as the players they really are: average/above average.

But I reckon he will try to slowly integrate his new midfield players Fabinho and Keita in hopes to gain more control over games and create more chances because obviously only world class attackers can score from limited chances (I am looking at you Lukaku).

If by chance they are still in the title race by feb/march I expect him to revert to his old style as they would have conserved enough energy to go all out by that time.

Let's hope they will crash this month with all the fixtures piling up on them, as I see them shifting City at the Etihad.

The reason he is not vilified like jose is Klopp is likable. Everybody likes him. The media love his soundbites and he is the most exciting Mgr football. There ya go.

slightly different, but I remember Utd playing like a pile of shit for the first 40 minutes of a game & not having a strong side out & SAF deciding that he'd better do something. So 5 minutes before HT he makes a massive fuss over a nothing decision, gets himself down to the touchline to abuse the ref & then as the HT whistle is blown, gets on the pitch to the centre circle to walk off with the ref while bending his ear. Dynamic of the game has changed, home crowd is going crazy having been very quiet earlier due to the team geting outplayed.

so to answer your question, albeit on a tangent & really badly, yes I can actually.

It will not work in every game? Well it seems to have done so far. There was certainly an element of luck involved in today's game, but the general trend is very positive. We have conceded the least goals of any domestic side in Europe. That's a hugely impressive statistic however you dress it up.

No doubt City are heavy favourites for the title but if you'd have offered me our current position at the start of the season then I would have snapped your hand off, as would have 99% of LFC fans.

As you suggest - people have short memories concerning the level of opposition in our CL run, but therefore perhaps you should also consider our erratic league form and leaky defence which led to us barely scraping fourth last season. There has been unprecedented improvement this year.

That some are still finding the capacity to constantly criticise and moan when we have literally had our best start to a PL season ever is astounding to me.

I am not moaning at all. I have seen the team has improved a lot, and actually found a different way to win. I am just calling on today's evidence, that a clean sheet might not equal to great defensive performance, especially when Klopp himself said that the number of chances conceded is a measure of a team's defensive performance, as it's the whole team that defends and not only the back four.
Keita has been injured, but he was bad vs Napoli. He has quality, but loses the ball too many times for my liking. And the other thing is that he looks dazed after 60 minutes in a game, so maybe fitness wise he is not there. He will improve surely, but he has not yet lived upto the hype that was created after his signature.

Problem is Klopp takes lot of time to fully trust his new players, ala Robertson. This current midfield personnel are all hardworking type who are good for fast counter-pressing but once they have possession, they don't know what to do with it and also lack the close control. That's why this team struggled against low block teams and due to this one dimensional midfield, Liverpool has struggled in Champions League since the Roma 2nd Leg. Again big teams, Liverpool is getting found out.

I am not too fussed about the Champions league knockout qualification, as I think Europa would be the most likely path for Klopp to get a silverware. And he needs that. If he does not win anything at the end of the 2019-20 season, he should fek off.

Note: you may found my using Liverpool in third person instead of first person bit strange, but I do that not to insult the actual match going supporters' passion. Still, I support Liverpool and would be absolutely happy if silverwares do arrive in Klopp's reign.

This forum is all about opinions, ain't it. And, no, I don't support United, but I try to see Liverpool more objectively and not just blindly worship Klopp, like a certain section of Liverpool fans do.

Agreed. Being objective is something Liverpool fans obviously can't do.
 
People totally exaggerating Klopp's run onto the pitch. He should be jailed and abused and then it should all be forgotten about.
 
Does anyone think he'll be charged for clearly saying feck into the mic, which was picked up by the broadcast? Or will it just be pushed under the rug by the media and FA?

The s**t press is unbelievably silent on this :mad::mad:. I know that they are extremely biased towards Guardiola or Klopp, but i was still expecting some noises here and there. Jose got punished for putting his foot few millimeters inside the pitch, that also while giving instructions to his players. Now, i can't even imagine how it will be if it was Jose who ran half of the pitch and celebrated the goal with his players...

I'm just waiting when the media actually realise Klopp is not playing this lovely high tempo football that they are all brain washed with.
Last season it was Peps football v Mourhinos anti football and the media all wanted City to prevail because it was good for the British game. But not heard it mention once this season.

Just came here to write something similar.

I waited until this morning to check the press again as there was nothing more than obvious delight at his reaction from the studio TV pundits. As you say, can you imagine the horror if that were Jose / SAF?

It appears that, because of the lack of serious sports journalists left out there, the news is a simple rehash of whatever pundits/comms thoughts were on the TV the day/night before.

Seeing as that is driven by mostly ABU ex-players on SKY (with the exception of Neville) there is little chance of that. The boards and discussion groups will all rant and rave about it, privately behind closed doors, for a while making not a sod of difference. Meanwhile the likes of SKY will be clipping it up to show the rest of the world the passion involved in the PL … advert style!

No point torturing ourselves, nothing is going to happen, best move on.

A side thought: Its definitely worth a tenner on that theme coming up in the first question or answer of Jose's Arsenal Presser tomorrow :lol:

Even Klopp knew it was wrong, hence the appolgy. You only say sorry if you have been a complete prick.
 
It happens uncontrollable action to scoring a last minute goal similar to Jose smashing the bottle rack in to the ground against Young Boys. There are snowflakes out there that disagreed with that. For me its passion from both managers and I like to see that.
