Keane or Berbatov

There is a huge gulf in class between the two. To compare them alone is ridiculous, Berbatov is miles ahead.

If you take both players on their best, Berbatov is a better signing for United and Keane would be the better signing for Liverpool. United needed a goalscorer. Liverpool needed someone who can link up the play. Berbatov is a better player than Keane but cost 10m more. I'd call the transfers about even. But both were way overpriced.

For that, there's no one better than Berbatov.

Liverpool needed a lot more than that. Liverpool needed more than one top class (tempted to say world class but can't be arsed to get in an argument about how you define "world class") striker in their squad, if they were to have any hope of winning the league.

Robbie Keane is not that striker. Which makes him over-priced and the wrong signing for the club.

I thought you loved assists?

12 goals/10 assists in 30 games
15 goals/11 assists in 33 games

Them stats will only get better playing with better players. I reckon the sum of goals+assists will be equal to games played. He could be as influential as Cantona, even though you probably shouldn't say that out loud.

Liverpool needed someone to drop deep and provide balls for their main striker, Torres. United have two such players already, Tevez & Rooney, so a goalscoring stiker was needed. I guarantee that Berbatov will not be the one dropping deep to get the ball when playing with Rooney or Tevez or both.

If he does for Liverpool & Torres this season as he did with Spurs & Berbatov over the last 2 seasons, then he will be a huge success for Liverpool.

He is obviously not the man to win them the league. There is no one player in the world who could come in for them and win them the league, even Messi.

He is most certainly overpriced.

And in my opinion, he won't succeed anyway, he will be a 20m flop.

In my original post I said "If both players play to their best"... Keane won't play to his best.

berbatov is no 'fox in the box' nor does he play of the last man, he'll drop deep and link up play, more so than keane probably. similar players but berbatov is far superior

if i had to chose one i will go fpr Berba. But i do agree we paid 5 mil extra for berbatov, its all because of shitty.

Robinho is exactly 3 years younger than Berbatov. He's not a youngster anymore and he still has a lot to prove in PL. One of the biggest reasons why Fergie wanted Berbatov is that he has showed he can play in PL and do well in Europe. Btw many rate Berbatov as a great player including Fergie, I'm not really surprised that you don't rate him.

Robinho has it all to prove in the Premier League. Both Berbatov and Keane have nothing to prove. The game is littered with fabulously talented young footballers who never fulfilled their promise. Robinho's name might soon be added to that list.

For 34million quid you would expect a guaranteed succes, not someone with potential. He is, by far, the biggest gamble, financially, of the three and, hence, the most over-priced.

Nonsense.

He's the most over-priced of the lot. By a country mile.

Looks like Robinho has already done more in his first couple of games than Keane and Berbatov put together have accomplished in theirs.
