La Liga 2013-2014

i felt sorry for bale there, they were all laughing while he just looked on hoping to take it.

I think they all wanted Bale to take it.. but Ronaldo wasn't having it. Ramos looked like he took it out of anger.

Great free kick though and an even better save.

It was clear they decided that Ramos was taking the free kick, ppl always seeing and imagine things that dont exist.

Bale is going to rack the goals up once he's fully fit.

I'm not sure he will. I think he will hit double figures, and he will find goals easier as he is playing with a much stronger side who will give him many more opportunities. But I am predicting (not fully knowing of course) that he will have this feeling of "most expensive player in the world" burden on his shoulders, and with a more restrictive role than he had at Spurs, I don't see him getting nearly as many as he did last season. I predict he will hit about 15 this season, which is a good return for a winger/AM (whatever he plays nowadays), but not for a player supposedly worth as much as that.

If he's fit he will play in all the matches because of the transfer fee. We all know he isn't worth the money they paid for him, not even close. 15 is a bit low and I reckon they would be disappointed with that, I think he can get 20-25. He'll be fine once he's used to playing with those great players he now plays with.

Atléti with a tough away game at Granada tonight, wouldn't surprise me to see them drop points there... Form teams Villarreal (4th) and Getafe (6th) also go head to head, with the latter already 1-0 up after a mistake from Asenjo apparently.

Diego Costa with his 12th league goal of the season, from a penalty won by Villa.

Atletico really are a revelation, to be able to keep up with Barca and Madrid is amazing. They have had some good strikers the last decade too-:
Torres, Forlan, Aguero, Falcao and now Costa

 First time I've seen Costa, he's such a prick.

He's a huge prick  Dirty, cheat, diver, elbows - the full package  The only reason I tend to be amused by him is because he doesn't feature for a direct rival and he gets under the skin of Madrid/Barca players .

But had he played in the EPL week in, week out for one of our rivals, he'd be hated Suarez style!

Definitely steppedup as a footballer though, admirably filling the void by Falcao's departure.

The weekend starts today with the Barcelona derby:
TONIGHT
Barcelona v Espanyol 20:00 (all times UK)

SAT 2 NOV 2013 - SPANISH LA LIGA
Real Sociedad v Osasuna 15:00
Almería v Real Valladolid 17:00
Rayo Vallecano v Real Madrid 19:00
Sevilla v Celta de Vigo 21:00

SUN 3 NOV 2013 - SPANISH LA LIGA
Getafe v Valencia CF 11:00
Atlético Madrid v Athletic Club 16:00
Levante v Granada CF 18:00
Málaga v Real Betis 20:00

MON 4 NOV 2013 - SPANISH LA LIGA
Elche v Villarreal 21:00

Not a bad weekend's football in La Liga.

Espanyol can create problems for Barcelona, though not usually at the Camp Nou - we shall see.

Rayo usually create problems for Real Madrid in that derby, though they usually still lose.

Real - Osasuna? Atletico - Athletic? Like I say, there are a few good looking games in there and a few opportunities for Christmas window shopping. :D

Even though Messi has scored 8 goals this season, I believe that this will be a tough match tonight and the way he has been playing with so many misplaced passes in almost every game he has played, it seems to me that something is wrong either with him on a professional level i.e. injury that he may still be carrying and not match fit, or a personal problem. Either way, I am hoping Neymar can do the business should Messi be playing badly tonight.

He was excellent until the injury, but since coming back he's been very inconsistent (in his passing and even his touch) and bizarrely "quiet"... he did have an excellent second half v Celta in the previous game and should've scored at least 1 or 2 goals (he was terrible in the first half of that game though). Up until the Almería game it was him and Diego Costa the two outstanding forwards (and goalscorers) of this La Liga season, but since then Cristiano has caught up -- without actually improving his performances, I might add.

I've just tuned in to the Catalan derby - what was the moment of silence marking at the start?

Messi needs to get back to his best in the remaining two months if he wants to have a good chance of winning the Ballon d'Or this year.

Alves has been terrible, I agree, but Neymar on the otherhand has been brilliant, especially the bit of trickery in the 25th minute...
Yes he is starting to gel with Barcelona.. Needs to improve his goal scoring record though.

And that's a yellow card by the way..
