Their squad isn't that bad, they just had an awful start to the season, kept faith with Michel for too long and now they're too far back to realistically stay up.

Not really. Cristiano is their actual #9 for them, the guy spends most of the time in the box since he hardly involved in the build-up.
Which is understandable since the service Cristiano gets is ridiculously good.
Guys like Lewandowski, Harry Kane, Werner, Icardi, Immobile or whatever are horrible fits as long as Cristiano is still the spearhead for Madrid.
All of these names wants to be the centerpiece in order to thrive, just look what happened over Morata's situation last season...
There's absolutely no reason for looking a Cristiano-replacement since the Portuguese is still going strong.
Asensio will be a starter if Bale decides to leave Madrid in the summer. No need to look outside for a Bale-replacement.
Regarding Benzema, the guy is still one of your most important players on the field. And before you mentioning his goalscoring record, Benzema is hardly camping in the penalty area and usually takes 1 or perhaps 2 shots at best per game. Benzema is more involved in the build-up phase or creates spaces for his teammates. Currently the joint best assist provider (7) & has been indirectly involved in many goals for RM.
Dybala wouldn't really look anywhere great to play on the flank, which Benzema does a lots of time during the game.
It's also the reason why Dybala isn't even in Argentina NT because of that issue...

Bale's a backup now. Benzema can't score. Cristiano only scores for half the season. That is our biggest problem and that should be our priority in the market. If kane will cost €225m, then so be it. Still worth it. As for the rest, we desperately need a reliable CB who won't miss every 3 games. Nacho is just not good enough to be our most used CB. The rest of the team is done. If we're signing someone new, then we must also sell
Isco and Asensio, yep. He's better than both in many ways, but i'm not sure he'd fit us as well as either, and he's nowhere near good enough to adapt the team to him

Benzema's and Ronaldo's average position on the pitch is pretty much the same so far this season, Benzema being a 10 and Ronaldo a striker is a myth. Cristiano as a lone striker doesn't work and Madrid need forwards that can actually score goals. Ronaldo will be 34 next season, if he's rested for a few games or if he goes on a slump without scoring there needs to be someone else that can actually put the ball in the back of the net.
I'm a fan of Benzema actually, I think Madrid would be making a mistake by spending loads of money on Kane and putting Benzema on the bench but the guy seriously needs some competition. You keep claiming Morata was a disaster with Ronaldo but he scored a bunch of goals and they won the league and the CL, someone like Morata to rotate with Benzema is exactly who they need and not replacing the goals he scored last season was the stupidest thing they did.
Well, it depends how much money you have. If you can get Kane and also fix other problems in the squad then it would obviously be ideal but I don't know how the Kane-Ronaldo partnership would work, it would probably kill the small teams in the league but Benzema-Ronaldo seems a lot more versatile and they're a known quantity in the big CL games.
As for Hazard, I think he'd be perfect as an upgrade on Isco. Equally as good at retaining the ball but he has a better eye for the final pass, he's a threat on the counter and he scores more goals. Asensio is still too green and inconsistent imo although I have no doubt he'll be a star.

Is he really? Better at recycling the ball and keeping possession? Better eye for a pass? Scores more? Does he work as hard off the ball? And defensively?
I do think he is and that Chelsea's system doesn't really get the best out of him, it's true he doesn't work as hard off the ball but playing for Madrid should be enough motivation for that to change.
Chelsea will most likely miss out on the CL so I really think Hazard to Madrid will end up happening.

Dunno. Usually the team plays terrible, while the defense is a clown-show. Yesterday, Sevilla played better than Valencia, but the defense still fecked up. Valencia was bad but efficient.
The results actually hide how terrible this team is. Surviving the CL-group, reaching the copa final and sitting as 5th in la liga are hardly reasons to be concerned. Yet usually the performance on (and off!) the pitch is genuinely awful.
Does anyone have faith, that Montella is the right manager? I don't think so.
Additionally the transfers business is baffling. Why did Arias sign Arana during the winter-break for 11m? Whats the point of Roque Mesa (fortunatly only a loan)? Layun is hardly the answer to any problem either. And whats the point of Sandro? Did Arias talk to the manager before signing any of those players? Montella clearly doesn't fancy Arana and Roque Mesa (who is a fine player) while Sandro is not useful starting out wide. All of these transfers and the signing of Montella are so random. I was very much in favor of signing Berizzo last summer, but it turned out that his tactics didn't work with this squad at all. A competent DoF could have and should have figured this out, when meeting him. Not every manager is a good fit for every club.
Whats happening on the pitch is the consequence of a haphazard decision making from the board&the DoF. I am not confident, that they have learned from their mistakes.
Manuel Pellegrini would be a good manager for Sevilla imo.

Apart from last week's game, i think Griezmann has always scored since the start of the year. If Barca got him in the summer they would become fecking strong again (now they are just very very good).
At this point, half of the UCL/EL strikers are better than Benzema, or at least have better numbers to show than him, while usually being younger and on less wages.
The only redeeming thing for Benzema is that his duo play with Ronaldo is something we probably won't get to see in the next 20 years from any new duo, not only they understand each other in the field at an almost mystic level, he's unselfish enough to not care who's scoring the goals as long as the team wins.
But the bad side is that Benzema scores poorly in the last seasons, and when Ronaldo isn't on fire to score for both him and Benzema, it hurts Real Madrid chances to win titles too much, you wouldn't believe the team we've seen for the last weeks were the same ones of the first half of the season, and each year the idea of Ronaldo being in an insane scoring form for 9 months will be drawn further away from anyone.
The logical thing would be transitioning Benzema into the impact sub, and bringing someone like Werner for example to play most of the league and cup games, but Zidane failed to do that with Morata, so maybe neither Zizou or Florentino want to go that route.

Wow Ronaldo genuinely believes he'll still be scoring 30 a season at 40 years old dosen't he?
I respect his huge self belief as it's got him to where he is today and keeps him right at the top but at the same time someone needs to tap him on the shoulder and inform him he is mid 30s now and they might need to plan for Real Madrid 11 in 2025.
