One thing that is very irritating is the narrative being pushed that they are somehow some rag tag bunch of youngsters. They have one of the most expensive sides in the tournament. It is a seasoned premier league line up. Pickford is one of the most expensive keepers ever, walker and stones play for city and cost over 100m, young and lingard play for united and 3 more starters are part of tottenhams core and 1 is the liverool captain. Its very typical of the British press to take things to extremes of good or bad.
Its still a fact that they're one of the least capped and youngest sides at the tournament, so seasoned is utter crap.
This is ridiculous, it's like we're fielding a bunch of U-17s to listen to some of the commentary. They are all seasoned pros, most of whom have played in the Champions League.
They're the least capped international side in the tournament. Listen to the ex pros who have played in the World Cup and they all say it is a different experience. Fabio Capello said as much in the recent England documentary. He said you see many good players unable to cope with the unique pressure a World Cup brings.
