Let's all Laugh at England

Never really supported England but they did well overall.

Personally think the longer the game went the quality and experience showed. Lot of average players in that team and it showed in the end and they created almost nothing excluding the goal.

This is all true but much less fun than posting smiley faces.
Well yeah, but as much as I have disliked England's NT for pretty much all my life, this team was likeable (bar Hurry Kane who thought that he has become a GOAT or whatever). Southgate is the most likeable manager from all managers of big teams.

I mean, I would have been unbearable if they had lost against Colombia in the penalties. Likely half of forum would have put me on ignore, but losing on semi against Croatia - which a lot of people were mentioning as the main favorite after group stage - is still respectable.

They got lucky with the opponents they got and lost against a better team. Not that funny.. all the football is coming home and the tattoos were pretty funny though.

England is just a decent team which is good at corners and free kicks. Even if they made the final i dont see how France would lose against England. France would win 99 out of 100 times. Croatia would be more 95/100.

From the last four teams i also dont see any England player i would think "he is so good, he deserves to be a world champion." Or "he has won so many things with his club and deserves to win something with his country." Maybe Kane could become a player like that if he starts winning some stuff during his career.

France and Belgium have multiple of those players and Croatia has Modric and maybe Rakitic.

im normally not too fussed by England matches/Internationals but i have loved seeing the country get behind Southgate and the team.

they should be a proud bunch of lads and im proud of them too!

unlucky lads! Young team - the majority have another 3 tournaments in them. fingers crossed we go further next time.

Hahaha let's all laught at the 4 United players in the squad that miss probably their only chance to play in a WC final, hilarious!

I mean, its also the first decent team they came up against since the Belgium game was turned into a reservefest.

And Croatia really werent that impressive. A gulf between them and France. I suspect Belgium are stronger too

Still not laughable worthy.

I have to say, I find it very strange that people support a team in a country that they have probably never even been to, let alone gone and actually watched said team in the flesh. How much fun can it actually be from behind your keyboards?

Thankfully the vast majority of UK based Utd fans support their country, and the boys have done us proud tonight.

All of our players can hold their heads high, everyone who plays for City, Liverpool, Spurs and Utd et al well done. Gutted for us, but they have given us an identity and performed admirably.

Expected. Easy route has fooled everyone but the fact is that Southgate barely improved a team. They have been hanging on set pieces and luck, attacking play generally is absolutely shocking with 0 ideas. I am not impressed at all, of course it's a bit better compared to Hodgson era but that's not saying much.

That's just not true. He clearly has. Still long way to go but have improved. We lost to Iceland 2 years ago.

Definitely should've been 2-0 up by half time but they can be proud, massively overachieved compared to expectations before the World Cup.

I don't know about overachieved. Only if you judge by the presumption that England will be embarrassing and collapse immediately. When you look at it, the two times England faced strong opposition - Belgium and Croatia - they lost. They beat Tunisia and Panama in the group, then Colombia and Sweden in the knockouts. Colombia have some good players but are not the same strong side they were in 2014. Sweden are not candidates for anything. Overachieving would be if England beat, say, Brazil and Uruguay along the way. As it stands, they only managed to beat the teams they should always be beating, and lost to all meaningful opposition. Getting to the semis is good, but when you have such a bizarrely easy route to them, it's not an overachievement for a country like England.

I'm not sure it makes sense. More than a football game the country needed the win with all the ongoing issues.

Gutted absolutely gutted.
Croatia deserved that though they were better on the night. If we could have converted those 1st half chances then who knows.
Credit to the boys though for at least getting us back on board with them this tournament.

As an aside, any non-Croatian posters on here actively celebrating this result and enjoying this result; you are definatly not United fans even if you think you are.

WTF? This is the presumption.

So brave from Southgate's Lions. Gallantly defeating Tunisia, Panama and Sweden, while drawing against Colombia and losing to Belgium and Croatia. These Premier League multimillionaires really have gone above and beyond any possible expectations. Is it home yet?

Still not laughable worthy.

I dunno, I saw many giddy England fans talking about us as if we were 1970s Brazil. I'm disappointed that after all the hype we didnt put in a performance but I do find it funny that the people going way over the top about England got a reality check

He improved set pieces, general play is shocking.

Agree. And defence got worse. Take the set piece and penalties out and what did we do in the whole tournament?

Goals from our CBs from corners papered over the cracks, made people think what Southgate was trying was working. But it really didnt else we'd have scored more goals from open play.

You stand shoulder to shoulder with United fans on the terraces and then take the first available opportunity to turn and gloat in their faces.

It’s just odd.
Firstly, :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Personally, if the spine of the England team was United players, it would be difficult to rejoice at England's exit. But Rashford was benching, Lingard was decent but not the star and Young was well okay. Hoping Pogba bosses the final and makes English pundits eat humble pie for all the grief they've given him.

You know. There are United fans from Colombia, Swedia, and Croatia also.

Hard to laugh at that isn’t it, the players are so likeable.

Shame I’m gutted.

England has been my second team for 50 years. FIFTHY FECKING YEARS. But today I wasn’t sure. Off course I supported all United players but hell no I wanted Hurricane, Alibaba and Henderson to win a the WC. Absolutely not. Now I can with satisfaction laugh when I think about Glaston, Barca84, Classical Mecano something.

To all other English supporters I feel sorry, you deserved better.

Also, Colombia had their best (by a distance) player injured in that game

We scored the free kick, Kane had a one one one saved then hit the post on the rebound, Lingard shot wide when on the edge of the area with plenty of time and Stones had a header cleared off the line.

We didn't create enough from open play, but we did have chances.

Southgate burried you lot. 1 host on target for 120 mins and defend a 5th minute goal. Typical.

Bollocks we had plenty of chances, it’s not Southgate’s fault Kane and Lingard didn’t hit the target.

Bang average team eventually found out. Mbappe and Co would've slaughtered them in the final.
Most likely. Lost both games against decent opposition. Really going to struggle to win big games with Henderson as the only cm.
