I can see given our recent away results us getting a 0-0, 1-1 or heaven forbid 1-0 (defeat). If we do get a goal though it'll be from our Euro man Saha

I would start Saha but bring him off at the 60 minute mark if we are still searching for goals, we need to give the Larsson-Rooney partnership more than 15-20 minutes IMO.

I hope we play a 442, mainly because I feel Giggs gets most of the open looks just outside the box with the 451 and IMO Rooney should be taking those shots. If we do play a 451, why not put Giggs wide left and Rooney in the middle and just ask Roon to fall back more? Also, Giggs and Evra have developed a great rapport that I think Evra-Rooney constantly lack.

I would stick Fletcher in there instead of O'Shea or Ole on case Carrick goes down, but I'm thinking those will be the subs, maybe not though.

4-4-2 3.0 win Larrson and Rooney up front and Evra instead of Heinze. They are there for the taking - none of this inneffective 4-5-1 bollocks completing mis-using Rooney on the left

The first leg result needs to be convincing, no waiting for a good result in the second one like against porto diving club or milan. I won't be satisfied with anything less than a 2 goal margin

I was not happy yesterday because Larsson should have started the game, he's in superb form, a brilliant player.
He MUST stay, Fergie!!

He was probably rested until Lille. Larsson's experience in the Champions League will help us very much. I can't wait for the Lille-United game.
 
For fecks sake if we start with that depressing 4-5-1 formation I will slit my wrists!

Too many times we have played with it and it has not worked. Why are we too cautious, when it's the opposing teams who should be scared of us.

If we play 4-4-2 I fancy us. If we play 4-5-1 I see this being a draw.

I agree with you. We need to go to Lille and play our natural game, and get those away goals.

I really hope not. That 1st half of Benfica was awful to watch. We got a good enough team to really take it to them.

I`ll be happy with a draw TBH. Lille away is a tough fixture. If we get a goal then we`ll have a good chance over two legs.

There is no problem with the 4-5-1 Euro formation as long as its done properly = ie) Roon and Ron being used as inside forwards when we're in posession in their half or when the play is in and around the opponents box and used as wingers when were not in posession (so as to bolster midfield) or needing to to break out quickly from our penalty box on the counter.

The simple fact is we do need to play differently in the CL if we are to succeed, what is effective against Tottenham, Villa or Reading is by no means guaranteed to be effective against Barca, Inter or Bayern.
 
If we play 4-4-2 we should beat them.

3-1, Rooney hat trick.
 
I feel we are a far better side than Lille
Hence we should definately play 4-4-2
Tried and trusted and we will definately score if we play this system and in my opininon win.
