Lille v Man Utd

I was angry at Giggs for 80 minutes, didn't think he was good..but now, what a goal.

Manchester United fans were involved in a security scare during the Champions League tie against Lille amid scares they were being crushed in the stands.
A problem erupted 15 minutes into the match at Lens' Stade Felix-Bollaert, with some fans being pushed against the 10-foot-high metal security fences.

Fans reacted angrily, prompting riot police to fire tear gas into the stand.

However, after two fans, one an elderly woman, were lifted over the barriers to safety, the unrest was quelled.

Television reports suggested the gates at the back of the stand had been opened by police to allow Red Devils supporters with tickets for the home section of the stadium to sit with their own fans.

United had expressed concerns about the basic facilities at the ground before the match.

The club was surprised Lille were allowed to move the game to the compact 42,000 stadium in northern France rather than a larger, more modern venue like the Stade de France.

Manchester United secretary Ken Ramsden revealed the club would meet with Uefa and Football Association officials after the game to discuss the incident.

I don't care if we're being hyprocrites by the letter of the laws of football it was a foul. We've had awful ref decisions in the past, good for a change that he got one right.
 
Lots of xenophobic bullshit in this thread.Forgetting that we have three french players in our side and had one of uniteds greatest players in Eric Cantona.Some of you must have really hated this frog.
 
The ref didn't give the "goal" so it's not a goa end of story stop whinging GusHiddink read the rules it's the refs decision

You should care. By the letter of the law...ha. Ill give that chat to you on the back of our next dubious, heated defeat and see your reply. All im saying is the french were robbed today. Im honest enough to admit it, but in some ways it makes it sweeter...much like 99. There is no way they should have walked.

Sir Alec..the master of the interview. Some pressure on uefa now. I think we're looking at a week off, which may be good or bad depending on how you look at it.

Wasn't the way I wanted to see us win it, but according to the rulebook its a legit goal. If the Lille players aren't aware of the rules, then that's their problem.

Their "goal" was a blatant push on Vidic. If that was awarded, I'd be livid - but thank god the referee had a good game apart from being card happy.
 
I was happy to see O'Shea back for the last minute after his injury for Ireland. I'm happy O'Shea is back.
 
the result was great but if i was lille i would be very disapointed. as a united fan i didn't like the way we won but who the feck cares

Of course it was and without it he would not have been able to head a goal. A straightforward and correct decision by the ref. Just as Gigg's goal was 100% legal.

Two of the most straightforward descisions possible and the ref got them spot on. Lille might feel unlucky in a general sense but they have no right to fell hard done by for those two specific incidents.
 
Ultimate credit to Scholes and Carrick. By Jupiter, were they amazing. Every pass between them did not get intercepted. On fecking fire!

Rooney was unlucky, Giggs had a shit game until that feckin brilliant free kick.

Vidic was amazing, Rio needs to concentrate a bit more, Ronaldo was not on the same level, but I forgive him,

But VDS!!! How about that! Brilliant saves. If we had haved Howard or Carrol in goal we would have lost!!
 
Was looking at the walk off again ,got the impression most of the lille players were not sure what was going on , when they did realise they did not want to be involved . That coach needs seeing too. The Ref had a good game from our point of view , Hope our fans involved in the crush are OK . lot of questions to be answered over there ...
