Watching him for a few games, is he just in a purple patch or could he keep it up? His form suggests he would be a good squad member. So is it poor coaching/wrong system/pressure that holds him back or just a change of scenery that has helped.

The move was exactly what he needed. I think he’s more than good enough to be a starter for a side with expectations lower down the league.
I agree. To be honest despite the hate he gets, he was more than good enough at his best to fill a squad role here. The problem is at the time we didn’t have enough quality to push him down the order and by the time we did he had completely lost his form.
I really leave people would just let the idea of him coming back lie. Its not like he is a player in his early 20"s who has just struggled under one manager. He hasnt been able to perform consistently well for his whole career. If he came back he would probably have 2 or 3 good games then disappear
The best outcome from this loan move was always that we could then get a decent fee for him in the summer

He's doing great on loan. Surely his services would be put to better use at united. Freezing him out is already proving to be a huge miscalculation from Solskjaer. Lingard will be a big part in pushing West Ham up the table
This doesn't really make much sense. If he plays well throughout his loan spell, we could see him as a decent squad option.
Certainly could be preferable to a certain Daniel James.
Maybe not as outrageous as we think. At present Ole is not giving chances to James, DBV, Mata, Matic, Ighalo after lockdown ntil he left despite his great start for us and Lingard appears to have been available since last June. His squad rotation is not good enough and at present his is persisting with the same players all of whom are hopelessly out of form.
Its actually very frustrating and we are so bad at present we are almost unwatchable our football is so shit.....give others a run ffs!!
Squad rotation was also poor post lock down, he played the same 11 game after game after game. Yes we had a good winning run but players were absaloutely jaded at the end and that spilled over into the start of this season. Not to mention we we fer beaten in both semi finals
Was trying too hard tonight and I thought his play was selfish and decision making awful. Could and should have slipped Bowen in on goal twice. Nothing like good enough for us.
He actually gave him too many chances and he still blew it. Some on here are completely forgetting how bad he was before we signed Bruno.
Wish people would just forget how he was for us and give him praise for what he's done so far at West Ham. He's been nothing short of amazing since going out on loan and was yet again the best player on the pitch tonight. Good on him!
I'm laughing him saying he wasn't given a chance. He had dozens of chances under ole and he was shit. He ought to be sold.

He said he wasn't given a chance post lockdown and that is true. Whats wrong with him saying it? The few times he did play, he looked decent and the whole time, Ole was giving James chances.

Happy for him. He needs to play and wants to play. With us long term he wouldn’t be happy as a squad player. He is also on high wages for a squad player. At West Ham he is a starter. I hope they buy him, it would be good for everyone.

He is 28 and had numerous chances under 5 managers and was never good enough other than spells of good form that lasted around 5 games
He could do alright for a mid table club but quite clearly we should get rid. There is also the fact his wages quite clearly exceed his ability

His wages are not relevant in a footballing discussion. In any case he's been one of the lowest earners for a while.
Secondly Lingard was a decent player for LVG and a good one for Mourinho. It says something that these managers found use for him. Ferguson also had quite a few players like him.
Also, for most of his career he was used on the flanks and only truly found his best form when played centrally. That was interrupted when Sanchez came and he never quite found his way back. Clearly, like Lukaku and unlike Pogba, Jesse seems to be one who takes public criticism to heart and mind. Not saying he should be a starter here, but to claim he has been poor throughout might be to ignore context.
Now he's back where he is being valued, playing his preferred position, and it shows.
Jesse was always a late developer, at 28 its like 25 for most players. He is a better footballer than some playing in United's team at the moment, our French and Dutch attackers for instance. Just because he was homegrown seems to make some people very impatient whilst they give 'imports' the benefit of the doubt for far longer.
I hope he continues the way he has started at West Ham, comes back full of confidence and Ole has the balls to sometimes give Bruno a rest or play him in slightly a different position occasionally because a rejuvinated Lingard can fill that role. Far too many times he has been played out wide when he is most effective, when playing well, in the centre of the field.

It didn’t take long for someone to post this. That short term memory is an awful disease to have. He’s not good enough. end of. A decent season with West Ham and perhaps we’ll get a fee for him in the summer .
Watching Lingard over his career he’s a confidence player and when he’s bang up for it he’s a good player as seen for us and for England but he’d just hit a brick wall for us as he’s never going to be good enough even at his best and 100% confident to start for us, the loan was the best thing for all parties.

I'm delighted he's doing so well. Now, hopefully the clubs can agree a £30m permanent transfer before this run of form ends.

We start Jesse in most games and then bring Bruno on with 10-15 minutes to go. This could be our ticket to a first title in 8 years ffs.

Whether you think he's good enough or not doesn't take away from his contributions and experience at the top level, experience we could use when the players we rely on for individual brilliance falter. We have Daniel James warming the bench offering nothing for instance.
I don't see anything wrong with a proven player having that seat instead. He's been brilliant for West Ham without even needing much of bedding time and they are in the hunt for top four. My argument is Lingard could be offering that for us coming off the bench. Waste of a loan like it or not

Yeah it's easy to say such stuff now he's not playing at United anymore. Just because he left, many had already forgotten how dreadful he had been for us bar one purple patch for 2-3 months or so. Good luck for him there, nice lad, but I don't want to ever see him playing for us again.
Despite is being absolutely predictable.. I still find myself struggling to believe that people are saying we should’ve kept him and that he has a future here. 1 more good game and people on here will be saying he’s better than what we’ve got
Brilliant ??? You clearly haven’t seen the 3 games . 1st game he was impressive , 2nd game (Fulham)he was quiet and was in and out of the game. The 3rd (tonight ) he won the penalty albeit he miscontrolled it but defender slid in regardless and caught him . Overall he was okish tonight but brilliant no.
He’s proven to have done nothing for Utd for 3 years. That’s not to say he’s a shit player. He’s not and will probably do ok at West Ham . But I repeat he is not good enough to be anywhere near that Utd team.

It's kind of telling that everyone is getting better when they leave United. I have said it before and I say it again, and I think Michael Cox wrote an article on it, it's very little that differs most footballers at this level. It's all about a pattern of play, given the opportunity, confidence, and timing. I think his example was Pepe at Arsenal, how difficult it is to come in and make an impression in a non-functional team. I say we don't give enough credit to Bruno. Elite mentality. Not many can do what he does. Back to Lingard, really glad he's doing well. But as I said, he has a manager who trusts him, a fresh start, and his confidence back in a team that is doing well. That's all some need. Maybe we can think about when we slatter the Evans, the Smalling, the Lukaku next time.

While he may play well for West Ham. There is absolutely no way he should have been kept. In fact he should have been shipped out a few years ago, the only reason he was kept was because he an came through at the club.

Nah it's just one of those situations where he can't really find his form or confidence as a squad player, but isn't good enough to start at a club like United so when he drops down to a level where he can start and is trusted, he'll show a level he never/rarely even showed here.
Kick up the backside maybe. In all his years here he had half a season where he looked a very good attacker. So best to find him a new club in the couple of months he is able to do well
