Lingard to join West Ham on loan

Cheers but it's behind a pay wall. The buy out clause one was obvious as United very rarely ever include buy-out clauses for their players.

But whats the source for Solakjaer only allowing Lingard out on loan to help his England chances?

And more importantly wheres the source for Solskjaer planning on bringing Lingard back to United?

Ole did actually say that he looked forward to Lingard getting condition and form back whilst on loan and challenging for his place in the team again. I did wonder at the time if he was talking him up for a decent fee or even a deal w/Rice. Whatever the motivation be his comments, Ole definitely spoke of welcoming a rejuvenated Lingard back.

Pretty sure he said the same about Sanchez as well though didn't he?

What else would he say?

The treatment Rashford gets on here is disgraceful, I've called multiple people out on it. He's brilliant and continues to improve year on year. Sky's the limit.

It's grotesque.

The treatment Rashford and Ole get on here is beyond cringeworthy.

... do they not understand their job is to "support". It is literally spelt in their role association with the club. "Supporter".

On their 23rd birthday, yes. It was a stat put out by a source on Rashford's last birthday... I have been trying to find it recently, but can't come across it. The stat said that Rashford had managed a goal or assist in ever 111 minutes as a United player by his 23rd birthday, beating all other academy grads at the same age.. I think it said since records began or some such, so there was an astriks. But can't get hold of it again.

To be fair, other young players had World Class players around them thus other players were available to score the goals or make the assists, Rashford has played a ridiculous amount since he broke into the team so has had to be relied on, which is still remarkable as he has been very productive goals and assist wise. But the club have never really had many strikers come through the academy and stay in the first team.

That record though there is more to it as he is no where near the best academy player United have ever had, yet he still holds that record, good on him really for producing such elite stats.
 
I'm glad he is doing well.

The people who called him a championship player can eat the crap they talk.

They support success. It's what they link to Manchester United.

They want something, support something better than the players/managers that deliver in relative to their realistic expectation if it doesnt lead to instant success.

I'm really glad he is doing well but we shouldn't be surprised OR get carried away.

We have good players, that much should be obvious. If you took players that get stick on here (sometimes from me!) like Lingard, Rashford and Martial and put them into mid-table teams who are afforded more space in-behind the opposition they would be very effective.

The trouble is, we play teams who put ten behind the ball and that's why they sometimes struggle

This. Lingard in particular has the worst close control dribbling of the 3 you've mentioned , it's why he struggles so much against deep defences.

But he's a good footballer and can pass and score, so when he has a lot of space as he does at West Ham, he looks better. Coupled with him having a high work rate, he suits West Ham's counter system.

He's a good PL player, he just isn't getting into United as a first team player with Bruno here. We could potentially bring him back as a backup if VDB doesn't get any better, or sell to West Ham for £15-£20m. Either way it's a good loan for us.
 
Internet fans pre loan - he's rubbish, wouldn't start for any other premier teams.

Internet fans during loan at current top 4 team- he's superb

This. Every West Ham game I’ve seen since he’s gone there he’s had absolute acres of space to work in and he’s a decent ball carrier so yeah this isn’t surprising. His future lies elsewhere.

Exactly. I wouldnt consider him as a starter in our best 11 but good enough as a squad member. As I've said in here multiple times already, I would rather him in the team than Martial at the moment.

Get rid of him no matter what. We've seen what he offers. Glimpses of decency here and there but over the span of his career nothing to make him a guaranteed starter or a valuable squad player.

And what about this guy (Jesse), martial (go see the post in newbies if you haven't), williams , shaw for most part, DDG save our arses for years and the vile abuse he gets is as bad as the two you mention gets, christ even greenwood gets it.

Look we all know its wrong, but its human nature right or wrong for people to vent their anger and well internet sites are the easiest place to do so sadly, rather they take the abuse here rather than on Twatter, Sadbook then them going to their account and seeing death threats against you, GF and child like Martial gets or the racial abuse him, Rashford, Tunz have recently been subject too.
 
In this form we could really do with Lingard back. I mean Martial has completely lost it currently.

Could be the case of him not being able to perform as consistently on the pitch at Man Utd as he did on the training ground and hence him getting a lot of time to get it right before eventually being moved on. No shame in that — happens at every level sometimes. Of course this is just conjecture but I don’t think he’ll keep his for Man United. Would immediately swap him for Rice.
