Lingard’s had a miles better career than Grealish, and had done much more by 25 too.
Yeah i'd still sell him, but wouldn't be disappointed if we kept him, he's showing right now he can be a weapon.
I would demand £50m for him, England internatonal, match winner on his day - Can't see West Ham paying that, but can see someone like Everton paying it or Villa (if they lose Grealish), maybe he would make a good bargaining chip for Grealish?
Absolutely ecstatic for the lad. Sell him while his stock is high and before he drops back to his normal level which is a couple of notches below his current form, but still adequate for a West Ham level team.

It's funny how hated this guy was here before West Ham took a chance with him. He is having a great time and enjoying life again. Ole will make the right call with this and that is to let him keep enjoying his football elsewhere.

Hit the nail on the head there. The pressure at this club is huge. Delighted he’s doing well in a less intense environment. People will use literally anything to bash Ole, including now being an inferior coach to the Caf’s all time super villain and general water-boy figure of ridicule, David Moyes.

I am delighted for Jesse. Personal problems really hampered him this past 2 years. I'm glad he's playing consistently and hopefully we can pull West Hams pants down and get good money for him.

do you remember not long ago where he had 0 goals and 0 assists in about 2 years, lower stats than just about any centre half in the league? He goes to a side that suit his style of play to a tee, does well and suddenly he’s a footballing god? How do people not remember doing sod all for us week in week out? Him being derivative of shite is the reason we had to go out and sign Bruno in the first place for feck sake!

As said in the other thread, we need to use him as a makeweight for Rice. Jesse is basically their best player at the moment so not to do so would be borderline negligent IMO
He's playing at a similar clip like he was in 2017/2018 going into the World Cup. I'm happy for him, as everybody else should be. Hopefully he moves on because he's the main guy at West Ham right now and will continue to play a key role in West Ham's pursuit of CL football. A new lease on his football life and he's thriving, however it's not at this United.

I support selling Lingard to the highest bidder. My question is how did Moyes bring the best out of him and not Ole? Is there something wrong with Ole and the coaching staff? We shouldnt be this far off from City considering we had top the table and beating them recently. With the right coach, we should be fighting down the wire for the 1st place instead of conceding the title to City with 8 games to go.

The rest he's been switching from average to poor with really bad numbers for an attacking player at United.

If we only count league goals then he's scored more already than what he did in each season here (4 - 1 - 4 - 1) except 17-18 again (8 league goals, that he could still match or improve playing half of the games).
If he's got more space to operate at West Ham as some people suggest, or less pressure on his shoulders or whatever, it could be the reason and maybe playing there allows him to perform nicely from on now. But we can't pretend that we're seeing the normal version of Jesse Lingard because this is not the norm but the exception considering his general record.

If it was just Jesse, Id say you were crazy. But its not just him is it? Lukaku, Smalling, even Sanchez went on to do better things than they were doing here. I think theres a HUGE question mark over out couching staff from top to bottom. How many players come here looking great, and then seemingly turn to shit? Pogba? Bruno? Even Cavani seems like a shadow of the player he was when he got here. Like his natural instincts are being coached out of him. Lets just say I wouldnt be shocked to see Martial leave for another club and start to really progress like we all thought he was going to years ago.
If Pogba leaves, Lingard may well come back as we'll need to try to replace some of the lost creativity in the middle of the pitch. Personally though I'd prefer to just sell him if we can get 30m. He's a streaky player, and I think we've caught a break that he's streaking at just the right time. I don't think he would consistently continue to show this sort of form throughout the entirety of next season.

Lingard isn’t good enough to start regularly for United and because of this we had to buy Bruno, who is good enough.
I’m pleased Lingard is doing well but I’ve no time for revisionism, nor the implication that what he is doing right now at West Ham is readily translated back at United upon an inevitable return to a bit-part role. I’ve said my bit.
This run of form should mean we get 20 or 30 million minimum for him in the summer. That will be a decent amount to offset the expenditure.

Hes been a decent player for us since lvg was incharge and hes only had a really poor season due to personal issues and shitty fans/pressure of being a united player. If he plays anything like this for us he will be a quality player for us again. Hes been better than many of our forwards.
Imagine what he'd have been worth if we kept him here on the bench? 15M maybe?

A decent England international goes for around 80M these days, so Lingard should be at least 50M.
I am not the one who thinks he should stay but like when he outperformed di Maria at some point he certainly would outperform Martial too, just needed to be trusted a bit more and played in a preferred position than other star players. Certainly if he could get a run as a second striker or LAM, he would perform better here. As a bonus at WHU he gets that kind of freedom and is one of their main players within a team full of unselfish players.
Not sure what his contract situation is but we should get good money for him to fund our WC attacking player and a CB which we need so much. Hard work is also underappreciated something which is holding Martial so much back that he's pretty much average player more often than not. Happy for Jesse He's a quality United graduate.

100% we take him back from West Ham under the guise that he will be a new signing so the club doesn’t have to spend on a new wide player.
Why would he even want to come back? He's in arguably the form of his life, playing in every game and is the main man there since moving. His team is looking like they might get Champions League next season. His confidence is through the roof.
Why leave that to come sit on the bench for United and get a few minutes here and there.
