You may well be right, but Rodgers best season we came close to doing so when our defence was probably worse.
What we can't keep doing is relying on scoring more than the opposition - though it's fun to watch, long term I agree we need to keep clean sheets.
Rodgers had Suarez and Sterling. Although I think Firmino is a decent player, and Mane is better than Sterling, they are not in the class of Suarez
I agree but what we appear to have at least at the moment is plenty of goals from several players. Firmino, Mane, Coutinho and Lallana could all between them score a significant amount.
As it stands it is hard to really see Sturridge matching his tally from that season, but I think this year we can score a lot of goals - but yes we need to cut out the basic mistakes too.
The first XI attacks of both teams have a lot going for them.
Big difference to me is - Rodgers had Victor Moses, the archetype of slothful disinterested loanee, Luis Alberto and Iago Aspas to come off the bench when he needed something more.
This team has Sturridge, Origi, Ings, and Can.
Add Ings to that team to come off the bench and we win the title in 14. The squad depth up front was poorer than any contender I can recall for a long time.
I agree your bench is stronger now but still not good enough. Origi, Ings and Can especially are rubbish. Sturridge is a good player when he can be bothered but will be soon be sold in my opinion.
Injuries to Coutinho or Mane could destroy your chances.
None of Origi, Can or Ings are rubbish. Origi and Can's bottom levels need work, but they are both potential first team starters.
Sturridge will be here at the least until the summer.
Can is a headless chicken with no brain or technique.

Origi is also a headless chicken who relies on his pace.
Sturridge will throw a fuss at any time, he has a shocking attitude and is a ticking timebomb. He is one of the most unlikeable players in the game.
Really don't think Liverpool's players are better than ours, they've just got a manager at the height of his powers while ours seems to be suffering some sort of identity crisis.

On the pens v CP no one seems to be mentioning the handball from Coutinho's header which was just as good a shout as any of the others.
On Pogba. His price tag means shag all really, any player is worth what the buying club is willing to pay and if United can get most of that fee back through merchandising alone then what does it matter how much they paid.

Klopper is one of the very few who you can actually have a conversation with about the game without the ridiculous subjectivity.
Read through the thread. We were discussing Coutinho and your lot derailed it to start on Pogba. Same old.
He reminds me of Giggs in the latter part of his career. He can literally do very little, but then do something magic (in Coutinho's case that usually means a bloody good shot, in Giggs an exceptional defense splitting pass) and he becomes MOTM. Of the Liverpool games I have seen so far, which is only 6, he has hardly set the world alight. Lallana has been the player who has been more impressive.
He has been inconsistent, but this season his overall game has been excellent. His link up play, passing, work ethic has been much better. Added to that the goals he has scored.
The movement and interchange of position between him, Firmino and Mane has played a large part of our good start to the season.
Add Lallana into that and it's a pretty exciting line-up.
Sure it's just a start. He needs to perform at a high level on a consistent basis - however, his performances so far have taken him a step towards that.
