See the 'Ozil' thread, to which you responded to my 4-2-3-1 stating that I'm 'some gimp' who uses stupid or silly formations with players that we won't attain... Who am I? Read the name you tard, sorry I don't spend my every waking minute on the CAF to be one of 'Ramshock's recognized posters'.

Tool

Im sorry I didnt realize you were slow apologies mate. No I said formations with players we dont have maybe you dont see the difference. In my formation we currently own all the players...so yeah.

Well thats all a matter of interpretation. Ghali and I saw it differently.

I think you both grabbed an opportunity to jump on a scouser tbh.

You saw what you wanted rather than what was actually said. He clearly wasnt comparing their 1-0 wins to those of a title winning side.

its a good habit for any team......again no harm in pointing that out.

I didnt initially tbh but yeah I probably stuck the boot in afterwards. Sorry M&M

 not slow, but not as quick as I thought If I missed that, I did mis-read, I apologise.

If by "differently" you mean "incorrectly" then yes you did.

Apology accepted.

Well with us signing Bale, Felliani, Baines and Ozil, I really don't know how we're gonna line up for this one really.

It's a pickle
I don't think we should leave messi one the bench for this one. Could prove the difference.

I'm stating the obvious when I say that Coutinho is the key for us. The stats in the league since he made his full debut for us in February are quite amazing really: P 14 - W9 - D4 - L1 - F29 - A9 - Rodgers also deserves credit for the way he's got us playing. The players now seem to be in tune with what he's trying to do out there on the pitch. People seem to be writing Gerrard off as a spent force. However, I think our manager is playing him just fine in a deeper role. It gives Coutinho the licence to pull the strings from midfield, whilst Stevie doesn't have to exert himself too much. I imagine if the game isn't going too well for Liverpool, the option is there to push Gerrard further forward in order to put more pressure on the opposition.

It'll be interesting to see how Moyes plays this one. It's in his nature to set out a cautious approach when playing against the better sides. Understandable really considering the limited budget he had at Everton. Fergie always took the bolder option of believing (with much justification) that his side would outscore United's opponents more often than not. It might take DM a bit of time to come to terms with the talent he has at his disposal.

Anyway. As it stands, I'd snatch your hand off for a draw on Sunday. 7 points out of 9 would be an excellent start for us considering it took us 7 games last season before we had accumulated 6 points.

Drawing against Chelsea puts the onus on us to get a win in this one. Less confident of a result against Liverpool than Chelsea. They seem to be playing the kind of football we don't like in teams we play and I think moyes is still working in our fluidity as a unit. Need our midfield to step up and actually be creative.

What about in this game though?

---------DDG--------
Valencia- Rio-Vidic-Evra
--------Carrick-------
-------Cleverley-------
Young--Rooney--Welbeck
---------RVP------------

Rooney to play pretty much as another midfielder. It will be tight and we will need width from the fullbacks so that's why I want Valencia at RB and not Jones

good post by the scouser. But I think Moyes will play similar to the Chelsea game. It was Chelsea who came to defend. Liverpool will likely be a bit more attack minded against their hated foes. But we have enough upfront to hurt them.

I can see Moyes opting to cede possession and relying on his attack to win the game, similar to what you did vs Swansea. Quietly confident about this, as long as we can keep RVP quiet and show some composure in front of goal.

Fergie's approach against Liverpool at Anfield was pretty defensive towards in the last few seasons, we didn't really have a clue what we were doing when we visited you. If anything I expect our performance to be better under Moyes.

Pool fans being more confident about the United game because Moyes is there all stems from the exact same false sense of superiority they have over Everton despite recent seasons showing the opposite. It's the same thing if you ask them who the better manager is between Moyes and Rodgers they will to a man say Rodgers and believe it too because it's all they have to grip onto right now.

I think the only time I can remember, United have played with any degree of control in a match at Anfield was the 1-0 loss in the F.A 4th round 2 years ago. A lot of the performances have usually been like rabbits in the headlights despite the experience and quality in the United sides.

Our organisation was fantastic last night

With a bit more productivity in front of goal we'll win this

2-1 I reckon

On paper we should beat Liverpool, much better team amd squad of players than them.

Luckily, football is not played on paper, and the Liverpool games are usually tight affairs.

1-1 draw I reckon. Evra and Sturridge to score.

We'l be favorites like most games, expect to be the dominant side only for it to not pan out that way. Think it'l be a draw but we're more than capable of beating them. Lets see who wants it more. Derbies are always about more than just being the better side.

Liverpool putting out a strong team tonight. Risky.

Liverpool: Mignolet, Johnson, Toure, Wisdom, Cissokho, Gerrard, Allen, Alberto, Ibe, Sturridge, Sterling. Subs: Brad Jones, Agger, Aspas, Coutinho, Henderson, Lucas, Borini.
Notts County: Bialkowski, Dumbuya, Liddle, Smith, Stevens, Bell, Labadie, Fotheringham, Campbell-Ryce, Arquin, McGregor. Subs: Coombes, Murray, Thompson, Spiess, Tempest, Boucaud, Nangle.

That with the exception of Coutinho and Agger is their best 11. You could argue Aspas too. Rodgers taking no chances, but this early in the season the extra midweek game isn't a problem for them.

Joe Allen's stock has fallen quite a bit, or has he been injured?

I say the same thing every season, but it'd be nice to give them a thumping for once. Especially at Anfield.

Indeed.

Never needs to be said but its worth saying all the same: This, as much as any other, is a must win game. Love to sneak it 1-0 in stoppage time in front of the Kop.

Hasn't he been playing? I've watched both their league games and I can't remember.
Just 5 mins at the end of their first game. Their CM pairing has been Lucas and Gerrard.
Seems Rodgers has lost faith in him?

Or maybe Lucas and Gerrard were always going to be the first choice in the short term but Lucas was injured a lot last season.
