Liverpool vs. Man United

No
We need people who can pass the ball under pressure and who can move around the pitch and make themselves available. Fellaini wont change any of that.
but he'd provide a bit of meat. All our tackling seems to end in a card.

I'm not worried as of yet and feel we can still pull something out of this game. At the end of the day it was never going to be easy here, but lets face it! If we have any title aspirations this season, then these are the type of games when we have to find something!

I miss the days when we used to have 20+ passes in the build-up to a goal. When's the last time that happened? Our short passing is mediocre at best and has been for ages, and we seriously lack spark.

Moyes has to already learn that we aren't Everton and we shouldn't be playing not to lose.

I agree fully with this. Lump in the box, repeat at the moment.

Starting Young and Giggs, you get what you deserve. Moyes is really showing naivety.

If Liverpool win here, they'll be 5 points ahead of us already...
Big fecking deal. It's the gap to Chelsea and City that is the only concern. But this start to the season was always going to be "challenging".

The usual Liverpool - Man United match at Anfield. Liverpool running around like maniacs and United playing shite.

Precisely! Nothing new about this performance. Par for course really. Would like to see us create a few more chances though, our wing play has been terrible so far. I'd be happy to get out of here with a draw to be honest.

Is it me or does it seem like Moyes is making the exact same team selection/tactics that Fergie would have made? I was expecting Moyes to put more of a stamp of his own style on this team. Also seems to me his team selections have been "safe" rather than going for our flair players to make a difference (e.g. Nani, Kagawa etc.) Might have something to do with their match fitness but Moyes has to realize we have a huge squad that needs to be rotated.

Easy to blame Ashley for the goal, but what the feck was Rio doing? Inexcusable for a centre back
It was a comedy of errors from a wayward Carrick pass, to Young dicking about, to Rio trying to defend a corner with his foot and Evra deciding he didn't need to stay tight to Sturridge.

We need to stretch Pool. Either put Nani on or switch Young and Giggs.

Also how is Giggs so invaluable yet we aren't interested in either signing similar style players or using the ones we have available?

Not surprising. Its become common for people to moan about starting line ups but today's squad choice is terrible.

He has rotated by putting in Giggs and Young starting.

Why are people blaming the ref? He's favouring the home side - that happens. We've been dire. We're treating this line a training exercise whereas Liverpool have played their usual game

I would have loved to headbutt Gerrard and take the red card. Fair play to RvP thinking about the team, but wouldn't we all have loved to headbutt Stevie?

And lose the game and get a suspension with City game coming up.

I would be fuming mad if RVP had done that !

That is the kind of stupidity that can cost you the title !

Would like to see this at some point, won't happen most likely.

-------De Gea
Valencia Rio Vidic Evra
----Carrick Cleverly
-------Anderson
Nani---Hernandez--RVP

Our midfielders don't seem to come short and just hide around the Liverpool players. Carrick needs to do better.

Perfect moment to bring on Scholes.

Perfect match for Roy Keane.

Could use a bit of Ole.

But fact is, these boys are going to have dig themselves out of this mess.

Don't blame Moyes. It was like this at anfield with Fergie too.

I don't either but why shoot ourselves in the foot before the game starts. Why do we insist on handicapping ourselves with these "teams"?. How fecking obvious is it that Giggs shouldn't be starting these kind of games?

Moyes making basic mistakes in his team selection, does he have the ability to turn it around?

"He should kick the ball out.." (well he shouldn't really)

But how bout the ref turns around and gives the straight up fecking foul and Jones gets treatment.

I think based on our current performance we would do well to get a point out of this match. Hopefully we can get another 3 off palace and citeh next! That would be a very good start to the season considering we will already have played some very tough away matches and big teams.

Giggs off. Nani on, surely? The gap between midfield and attack is huge, and Nani will roam and slot in there. We've gone with experience, but experience isn't stopping us from buckling under Liverpool's pressing. We need players who can play the ball in tight spaces. Kagawa is our best player for that, but he's not in the squad, so next best is probably Nani. He will provide threat from wherever he is in the final 3rd.

Michael Carrick has a pass completion of just 69%.
I don't remember that low from him ever.
He hasn't started this season in the way he bossed the last season at all. Where has that cockiness gone?

Easy to blame Ashley for the goal, but what the feck was Rio doing? Inexcusable for a centre back

Young shouldn't be blamed at all... Ferdinand, Evra and Cleverley should all have done a lot better.

Why are we so scared at moving the ball forward? Liverpool's pressure has left loads of space on multiple occasions, but no United players willing to run/dribble/pass/whatever into that space. We've got way too many passengers in the team today so far. Apart from giving the ball away for the corner that led to Liverpool's goal I have no idea what he's actually done. Put in some crosses, but mainly because he's seemingly too scared to take on his man. No idea what Giggs' role is today, and same for Welbeck really - although he's kept a cool head at least, unlike some of the more senior players. Also doesn't seem like the first time Rio has been caught sleeping on a set piece.

At least Liverpool has been shit as well, but that's largely overlooked because they're ahead.

Ando for Giggs and Nani for Young?

Moyes needs to start proving himself.
