Liverpool vs. Man United

Everything about that match was shit. We were shit, the ref was shit and Liverpool were shit. Shit result.

Also got my first Canee take the strain of the season, football is well and truly back.

That's one of the worst we've been for ages... I've never known us have so much of the ball and do nothing with it.

De-register Giggs immediately. What a shitty performance.
You don't need experience to play Liverpool. Skill and willing to run to the end
will do. Giggs can't do those and he will never do it against the hardworking teams.

Crap effort, just another typical 1-0 loss from us where we hardly create any chances, despite having more of the ball. Time for those reinforcements Dave

Marriner indicating he's adding time on when Liverpool wasted loads of time for the free kick in extra time and then barely adding on time for the corner in the end

Pathetic performance all around. Liverpool included - created feck all apart from the goal, despite us handing them several opportunities with shaky play at the back.

Behave.

Liverpool were very very average, we we were worse and at times looked very much like an Everton team chasing a game. I.e clueless.

During the summer I was gutted. Missed football so much and couldn't wait for the season to start and now it has and we have to put up with the same old muppets talking shit in these match day threads.

Firstly, we haven't turned into Everton. We're three fecking games in, it's tough to even get the slightest of ideas as to how we'll shape up in the future under Moyes. He needs time to put his mark on things. Right now though we're not playing a great deal different than what we did under SAF, except I'd say we're actually pressing the ball a bit better so far, which is something we lacked recently under Fergie. We aren't playing cautious...Young, Welbeck, Giggs and Van Persie all started and they're all attacking players. All we've lacked so far is finding our form in the final part of the pitch, which for me is down to the players rather than Moyes right now.

Secondly, Liverpool aren't shit. Not sure why people are acting like they're some average side. We've had a few stinkers against them recently and they're always up for it against us. Couple that with them starting the season great and actually having a good side right now. Sure, we could of performed better, but no need to act childish and claim they're a shit side.

Four points from the first games, two of which were Chelsea and Liverpool at Anfield. Not as good as it could of been but it's far from a disaster. Unbelievably tough set of opening fixtures but I'm confident we'll improve. Way too many overreactions. Remember those famous words at the end of last season about getting behind Moyes. Sure, we all want to win these games and perform better, but we learn from it and fight back.

Horrible stuff. It was just depressing to watch from our point of view. A piss poor game and no points, couldn't get much worse than this. It's hard to be optimistic right now. I don't want to blame Moyes as it was the same in recent years under Fergie, but that team selection left me desperately disappointed.

Stop blaming the ref, you won't be saying the ref is crap when we get dodgy penalty at OT. Refs are inclined to favour the home side. We did not create enough and some of our players are average. We got away with it last year as Sir Alex knew how to fire people up. Just hope we strengthen in midfield by tomorrow evening or we could be in City's position of not strengthening when we win the league.

Horrible, horrible game. As always at Anfield Liverpool were massively fired up as you expect, and as usual we performed terribly. Why Giggs is playing 70 minutes, let alone on the right, I will never know. Young isn't that good either.

Where were Hernandez and Nani from the start and where the feck is Kagawa? And if Smalling is fit he should be starting ahead of Jones at RB. And where are our midfield signings?

There are a lot of questions for David Moyes at the moment and he needs to answer them. We need a big performance next week and some signings tomorrow.

Crap game and outcome, but in honesty not a lot different from a lot of the previous seasons games at Anfield.

Simply one to turn the tv off, and move on from.

This game has shown what we already know:

Clev shouldn't start.
Giggs shouldn't start.
We lack true right back options.
Nani should have started.
Young isn't good enough.
We rely too much on RVP to win matches for us.

Moyes has an uphill task ahead, but when everybody is fully fit and perhaps a player or two over the next 31 hrs, we will settle down.

Beaten by a shit goal and a poor first half.

Liverpool are shit and were very average today, when was the last time you witnessed a man utd team pass the ball backwards that much when loosing?

Giggs, welbeck still starting. Crazy.

Disappointed with the result to say the least. Don't really care that we dominated most of the match after they scored. That's not unusual considering they chose to sit back and defend. You have to credit them for doing it very well and they look an improved side. Some luck was on their side and im not sure if they are a top 4 team but they definitely have improved upon last season and with their new signings coming in they could get better.

A bit meh about the team selection. Clearly Young and Giggs aren't in the best form. Young especially, but I suppose Moyes went with the players who he thought were most fit. Giggs is never ever good during the first half of the season. He will occasionally provide a moment of genius but at 39 he probably is pacing himself for the business end of the season.

I thought we defended relatively well other than the goal. However, our attacking play was poor and we didn't fashion enough chances. Not much supply to RVP either. We really need to sort this out and Wayne Rooney is more important that people think. I hope Moyes realizes that we are Manchester United and we need to score goals first and foremost. Its great that we are defensively sound but we also need to play the players that can provide us with chances.

Its good to see Valencia and Nani playing relatively well as substitutes though. I think give Nani a run of matches and he will score goals and create chances for us. Clearly he is our best winger right now.

Not the best way to start the season off but hopefully we can bounce back against palace because we have another tough one against citeh a few weeks after.

I know it was typical under Sir Alex, but you would hope with a new manager it would change. Trouble is we now have a manager who can't win at Anfield no matter how we play. That actually makes it worse.

It's their cup final. They always run themselves into the ground, they'll lose next week because they took so much out of themselves against us.

To be fair, this was actually one of those anfield trips where they DID NOT overwhelm us in midfield. We were in the majority of possession for most of the match and fashioned more chances. However, having said that, they were 1 goal up after 4 minutes and its not unusual that they chose to sit back and defend/counter.

The don't concede early thing. Ashley Young and the defence need their arses kicking.

The Caf is being well and truly fecked by frothing United fans

:(

Obviously with the change in Manager everyone wanted a perfect start to the season to ease fears. Unfortunately, that was never going to happen with the toughest start to a premier league season in our history. A bitter loss and with citeh away on the horizon we need to improve our attacking play quickly.

Moyes needs to prove he can get our team to score goals because that's how we win titles.

we never really play well at Anfield......but we were embarrassing today. they did not really threaten us. we conceded a poor goal...they defended for dear life...but we did nothing after...except give the ball away.

we look a shadow of the team that won the title. I'm not blaming Moyes.....but essentially we have the same players. Vidic was magnificent back there that was the high point for me.

Agree! Probably the worst place ever to concede an early goal. I defended Young for most of his time here, but it seems like he gets worse everytime I see him. I think he is fine as a squad player and can do a job but clearly today he was out of sorts, rusty and hadn't played proper football in ages. I'd select Nani or Kagawa over him right now even if they aren't as good defensively.

The pressure is now truly on Moyes with this loss. The shit thing is the international break is here now and he will have to deal with an extra week of succumbing to yet another loss at anfield.

I am not blaming Moyes, the club has done nothing to help with signings. We needed them to get people in straight away for him. Now he is left scrabbling about to get people in on deadline day.
