Took your club a long time to build the side then.We lost a side in 58 and still managed to win the European cup nine years before you.
 
As far as the line up goes, I am really not too sure what system fergie is going to play. It'll be easier to get a picture of it when the squad list becomes available.

If Giggs is fit then he could end up on the right like last season (hopefully not).

Nothin to play for so we took it easy. Then we were allowed back in Europe and thought we will win the first trophy available. :D How long did it take before Pool won anything again in Europe?

Ryan Giggs and Rio Ferdinand face late fitness tests ahead of Saturday's lunchtime clash with Liverpool at Anfield.

Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed at his Friday press briefing that the pair will both be put through their paces on Saturday morning prior to kick-off, with the Boss remaining hopeful that both players will be passed fit to start the match.

”Ryan trained on Thursday and we are hoping he will be OK for Saturday," revealed Fergie. "He and Rio Ferdinand will both have fitness tests on Saturday morning. Hopefully both will be alright."

Gary Neville will definitely miss the game despite recovering from a virus. The United defender is back in training but the trip to Anfield has come just a little too soon for Neville, who will continue to build up his fitness over the next few days.

“Gary won’t be called on tomorrow," continued the Boss. "He has been training all week, but I think that it’s more important he continues that training and we can consider him next week.”

Ryan Giggs, who was in sparkling form in the run up to Christmas, should be available after making a speedy recovery from his hamstring strain.

Rio Ferdinand is expected to recover from a knock in time, and with Louis Saha, John O'Shea and Quinton Fortune all coming through Wednesday's draw with Chelsea unscathed, Sir Alex Ferguson has some welcome selection headaches.

Prime among those is whether or not to recall Roy Carroll to the starting line-up after his high-profile mistake against Tottenham. Tim Howard performed solidly down at Stamford Bridge in midweek, but Ferguson has tended towards Carroll so far this season in the Premiership.

Gary Neville will not be considered despite returning to training after illness.

United now have a seven-game domestic schedule in 29 days up to the derby at Eastlands next month before the Champions League last 16 first-leg glamour tie with AC Milan at Old Trafford.

Fortune, who came back from a hamstring problem after missing five matches, relishes the programme.

"The gaffer said before the game against Chelsea that this kind of big match run is Manchester United and this is what we strive for and train for," says the South African.

"We have a lot of big games and every single player will want to play in them, so we are looking forward to it.

"I was grateful to get through the game. That was success for me and, hopefully, when I am chosen next I will play well.

You forgot to answer my question, the question where I asked HOW LONG WAS IT BEFORE LIVERPOOL WON SOMETHING AGAIN IN EUROPE AFTER YOU LOT HAD feckED IT ALL UP FOR THE OTHER ENGLISH TEAMS FOR 5 YEARS ??

Not as long as it took us to win something in Europe after we won the cup in 68.

btw, when did you start supporting United? You sound like a 12 year old, so I'm guessing you started supporting United at about 9:30 or 9:45 GMT on May 26th, 1999
 
1968 was the beginning of the end of an era that had not been planned for by anyone at OT. Most of us thought that Sir Matt would go on forever even though in your head you knew it was impossible. We should have reached the final again in 1969 and would have if not for a corrupt referee. We had a goal disallowed that could compare to last weeks goal that never was against Spurs.
I was at the Heizel when Liverpool played Juventus in the final that led to the English clubs getting banned so excuse me if I do not appreciate the Liverpool fans.

That would be my choice also, keep Ronaldo and Fletch available on the bench.I would love to see Smithy and Keano together in the middle of the park. Not too many would relish playing against them.
 
Compared to what Wenger & Murinho say, Liverpool's manager is a decent guy,,,,hope i don't have to retract that.
 
I tthink that now is the time for Rooney to prove himself worthy of this transfer. Remember Rio's first season at United, when he was mediocre. Then at the end of the season we went to the sheeps stadion and from then on Rio was first class.
I just hope Liverpool are enough boost for our Roo.
