Liverpool Vs Manchester United

i was very confident/relaxed going into the last league game against them .. we were on a great run at that time .

taking nothing for granted .. they will up their game , its away for us .. anything can happen

this is how nervous i am

No Im sure we've played it already this season, giggs is given a free role and Fletch tucks in a bit playing box to box

--------------Carrick---------------
--------Fletch---------Anderson----
--------------Giggs---------------

but not in quite a strict diamond as that, lots of movement and creativity

plus anderson had gerrard in his pocket

but aerially is our best threat, and who is going to get the balls in in that line up?

plus anderson had gerrard once out of 3 attempts, hardly every time

VDS
O'Shea Ferdinand Vidic Evra
Fletcher Carrick Scholes Giggs
Berbatov Rooney

where did i say we should, i said to take advantages of set-pieces, i.e. take advantage of there weaknesses.

the team i recommended is physically unable to play like bolton, as is every team without kevin davies

no you said get "the ball up" which in my book means pump it up to the forwards instead of playing good attacking football. I agree we should take advantage of set pieces, but we should be doing this in every match anyway

We are more than capable of opening them atleast 3 times in the game like we always do against any team in world football. And atm Liverpool are in turmoil, which would make things all the easier for our players.

get the balls in was reffering to crosses, meaning two of nani, valencia and giggs must play

only valencia looks capable of scoring from open play, and he will either not play or stay wide, however we don't know how rooney will perform

Wow..

Valencia is having a good patch scoring in back to back games, doesn't mean he is the only one capable of scoring from open play. There are atleast 3 or 4 others.

i'm not saying only he can score i'm saying only he looks like it, berbatov is getting more near misses than a drug addict sharing needles, nani is his usual frustrating self and i dont see anyone else worthy of mentioning in his sense, fletcher isn't a goalscorer and carrick tends to take too long over shots

shitting a brick over this one. really hoping we trounce them, but can definitely see it all going tits up. even if we lose, i just pray that we play with some passion. nothing worse than losing from lack of effort...

I love and hate this game every time. It brings all sorts of people out. If we lose, you get to hear from friends you have not heard from in a year and they call as if they just want to check up on you.
You get those who don't even know how the league table looks like.

VDS
Oshea Rio Vidic Evra
Valencia Fletcher Giggs Nani
Rooney Berbatov

Valencia and Nani earned their starting positions through good performances. Giggs and Fletcher have been our best players this season so they need to be in there. I feel bad for Anderson but he should at least make an appearance.

The rest of the team picks itself.

Rooney to open his account at Anfield.

He scored the winner there in his debut-season for us.

As everyone is well aware, Liverpool are in horrendous form. Fergie won't underestimate them though; I expect him to pack the midfield in a similar fashion as the system used to such great effect at White Hart Lane earlier this season. He'll play four across the middle, but with no true wingers. Fletcher will play on the right, but he'll tuck inside and play as more of a midfielder. Giggs will start on the left, but will be given license to drift inside and create as well as occasionally providing us with natural width.

van der Sar

O'Shea • Ferdinand • Vidic • Evra

Fletcher • Carrick • Anderson • Giggs

Berbatov • Rooney

Substitutes:

Foster
Neville
Evans
Scholes
Valencia
Nani
Owen

It will be harsh on Valencia, since he's in such good (goalscoring) form, but I think this is how we'll line up. The one thing I'm a bit unsure of is who will accompany Ferdinand at the back... Vidic is usually thought of as a guaranteed starter, but his form this season, and indeed at the tail end of last season has been unconvincing, especially in the big matches. I think Vidic's experience will just about give him the edge, although I wouldn't be at all concerned if Evans does start.

I think we will grab the win and put the pressure on Rafa... I'm feeling confident: 2-0 United. Berbatov brace.

Any doubts that Rooney will recover in time to make this game?

I can't make heads or tails of this one. The back five is more-or-less set:

van der Sar
O'Shea - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra

Beyond that, Fletcher, Giggs and Berbatov seem certain to play (as well as Rooney, provided he's fit...he will be fit, won't he?). If Gerrard's fit (and reports are suggesting he won't be), I'd play 4-3-3, stick Park up against Johnson and have Anderson man-mark Gerrard. If Gerrard doesn't play, I'd go 4-4-2 and start Valencia instead. So, something like this...

with Gerrard:
Anderson - Fletcher - Giggs
Rooney - Berbatov - Park

without Gerrard:
Valencia - Fletcher - Scholes - Giggs
Rooney
Berbatov

Can't wait! 1-0 for us, Berbatov to score.

Mate, Park's a way off recovery yet, he's still injured.
I'd have Valencia (two goals in two games, confidence must be high), Fletcher, Anderson and Giggs with Evra supporting that left side, Giggs will run the show passing and creating, no room for Carrick I'm afraid.
I still think it's a game for Owen, forget about the hysteria surrounding his return to Anfield, his movement can really upset a low-in-confidence defence and if not create for himself, then his positioning will free up space and drag defenders out of position to allow others in. Although I do think Fergie will go with Rooney and Berbatov from the start, it will be interesting to see....

Ah, wasn't sure about Park--my bad.

Right then: since we can't use him to negate Glen Johnson (who might not be healthy yet, either...), let's go 4-4-2 and let Evra and Giggs exploit the space he leaves behind on his sorties up the pitch. It might be worth using two defensive-type midfielders--so Scholes is out, Anderson/Carrick are in.

van der Sar
O'Shea - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Valencia - Fletcher - Anderson/Carrick - Giggs
Rooney
Berbatov

I hope we use a flexible tactical formation in midfield consisting of Fletcher, Carrick and Anderson with Giggsy on the left and Rooney and Berbatov upfront. It could win us the midfield battle and therefore the area where we lost both games against Liverpool last season.

Van der Sar
O'Shea - Ferdinand - Vidic - Evra
Fletcher - Carrick - Anderson - Giggs
Rooney - Berbatov

This is probably our best team right now. A draw would be a decent enough result even though Liverpool are nowhere near their best at the moment. I expect Stevie starfish and that Spanish girl to be fit though.

Eh? I don't think Fletch on the right is his best position and puts him less effective. Fletch in the middle and Valencia on the right is our best team right now me thinks.

Simple:

--------van der Sar
---O'Shea-Rio-Vidic-Evra
Valencia-Carrick-Fletch-Giggs
-------Rooney-Berbs

I love Lawro's predictions, they always follow a simple pattern.

Top 4 vs Top 4 = draw.
Top 4 vs Top 10 = 2-1
Top 4 vs Bottom 10 = 2-0 (with the comment, they'll have too much for them)

Wait for Fergie's press conference before i start panicking about Rooney.

Regardless of whatever team we put out, I just want to see everyone play with passion for the entire 90 minutes. Get stuck in, cover the extra yard, shake them up before they even get started.

And put a shackle on Benayoun. Torres and Gerrard if he plays will obviously be the main threat, but Benayoun has that creative spark that can unsettle our defence.
