Liverpool

Again, can you be specific? He was poor against City and arguably Swansea. Those are the only two that come to mind.

Like I said I can't be specific, as I don't watch Liverpool closely enough. I'm talking about his technique on the ball in general, the words that come to mind are big and clumsy. I can't comment on his defending in general, all I'm saying is that I've had a room full of people watching him against City pissing themselves at some of his football.

Well, if a bad few minutes is enough for you to judge whether or not a player will be good enough, then fair enough. From what I've seen, we've got ourselves a good one.

Chelsea play Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Sunday having edged a point ahead of their visitors on Boxing Day. Mourinho acknowledged the prolific Luis Suárez had been the difference between the sides to date but, while he still considers Manchester City to be favourites to win the championship, he expects the challenge from fourth-placed Liverpool to be maintained.

"They can [win the title] because they are good, because Brendan is good, because they have time to prepare the team tactically and because they are not involved in the heat of the knockout situation in the Champions League or even the Europa League," Mourinho said.

"My players are going to play 60 matches this season. Liverpool's will play 40 matches. It's a big difference. Quality plus ambition plus this advantage, so yes, they can win it.

"City are the big favourites. Arsenal are like us: they play in the Champions League, they are trying to improve on the last few years having not been at the top of the league for a while. And Manchester United, in spite of being a few points behind, have the reality of [what they have achieved in] the last years. Liverpool are on holidays one season: one week to prepare a match, play the match, one more week to prepare the next match. An unbelievable advantage.

"Brendan is doing fantastically, but he's training every week in a calm way. Every day – maybe twice a day – which is a big advantage when you build your team. You know how many tactical works I've done since pre-season? Not many. It's easy for a team who do that every week to have some dynamic. Not to be involved in European competition gives them a big advantage: not in terms of resting, but in terms of work."

Hehe.

Didn't see a thread so stuck in here... anyone recall this guy?

Fell through a greenhouse - wth?

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1...-teenager-wayne-harrison-dies-aged-46?cc=5901

A footballer who became the world’s most expensive teenager when he joined Liverpool in 1985 has died at the age of 46, the Merseyside club have announced.

Wayne Harrison was just 17 when he moved to Anfield from Oldham Athletic for 250,000 pounds.

But he never made a first-team appearance for Liverpool after suffering a series of injuries and misfortunes, and was forced to retire in 1991.
Harrison died in hospital on Christmas Day morning after a short illness, having suffered pancreatic problems.

A promising striker, he completed a move to Liverpool after just five appearances for Oldham, then in the Second Division -- now the Championship.
Joe Fagan, then Liverpool’s manager, saw off competition from Everton, Manchester United and Nottingham Forest to sign the teenager.

“You hear reports about a special player perhaps once in 20 years,” Fagan said at the time. “That’s why we bought him.”

Harrison was initially loaned back to Oldham, before he returned to Liverpool to continue his development in the club’s reserves.

He was on the verge of a first-team debut when he fell through a greenhouse and, with the local ambulance service on strike at the time, almost died through loss of blood before back-up Army medics could get him to hospital.

Harrison then suffered a number of serious injuries -- including one caused by a fall through his loft -- needing no fewer than 23 football-related operations.

He looked to have put those problems behind him as he scored 17 goals in 28 games for the reserves as they won the Central League title in 1989-90.

But his then tore his cruciate knee ligament during a reserve game against Bradford in May 1990, and was forced to retire the following year.
Oldham organised a testimonial for him against Liverpool in 1992, but he was unable to play because of his injury.

Harrison subsequently took a job as a driver for Robinson’s Brewery in his home town of Stockport, near Manchester, and played for local Sunday league amateur side Offerton Green.

In a statement on their website, Liverpool paid tribute to Harrison on Friday morning.

“Liverpool Football Club was saddened to hear of the passing of former Reds player Wayne Harrison at the age of 46,” it read.

“The thoughts of everyone at Liverpool Football Club go out to his family at this sad time.”

That's merely Mou being Mou, making excuses for his own inadequacies by taking shots at others. Same old song.

He's right. Been saying it all season, Liverpool have a massive advantage this year. Potentially playing 20 games less than your rivals is crazy.

Next year they'll find it much harder playing Thursdays and Sundays...
I see what you did there.

I like it.

If they lose this weekend and we win, we'll be two points behind them.

That's dispute us being terrible and according to every ABU we will be ending up in midtable while Liverpool are incredible and pushing for the title. Funny old game.

Just to point out the bit that had me laughing it's this video from 3min20secs onwards where he makes 3 mistakes in a very short period of time. I know it says nothing about whether he's good enough but it did have me laughing!

It's like his feet are glued to the floor  Terrible technique, he's chopping at the ball even for a simple pass into feet. He does have a good heart though.

Yeah, when your squad is as big & expensive as his, he should be the last one complaining.

Not many teams can have a Torres, Mata, Willian etc all on the bench.

According to the cafe Torres and Willian are awful though, I mean Willians actually played decent when hes played but he wasnt needed, thats not the point, are they superb bench talent or useless? Make your minds up!

You think he's not (Torres)? You can pop in and have a go at Nani, Valencia etc. then be ready to take the honest view back.Torres is shit. It's far more vindicated to say that about him than it is to say that about any star player. People merely say that it's a bit of a luxury to afford what, 80/90m in two players sitting on the bench. They're quite right as well.

Torres for £50m... biggest waste of money in PL history?

Certainly up there, along with Carroll, Shevchenko, Robinho, and with Fellaini inevitably joining the biggest flop group. I suppose Veron could be in that group as well although I think his performances exceeded the aforementioned players contributions to their respective clubs.

Yeah, I don't think Veron was quite as bad as some say. Obviously not worth the fee but we did end up getting £15m back for him as well.

Shevchenko is a good shout.

Whatcho' talking about Tomus? I agree , my point was that the cafe always say their shit then they say ' we have the talent of Mata Torres and Willian on the bench.' Spot the odd one out there.

Rob, I don't think Mata and Willian are thought of as shit on here. Torres is and rightly so. As I said, even if someone thinks Willian and Torres are both poor, it doesn't mean he or she can't point out at their price tags and how much of luxury it is to have this money sitting on the bench. Regardless of whether they're good players or not. Hence I don't understand this 'make up your mind' bit.

Yeah but price tags aren't a great way of judging players these days, the way he said it made it sound as though these were 3 incredibly talented players on the bench that could be rotated, one of which is, but the other 2 are wildly derided on here, and Willian isn't just derided for being a 30 million pound player whos great but that we dont need, hes been called crap plenty of times.

He's not crap. He's not great either.Signing him was just a bit baffling, that's all.

Whereas Moyes will get a well deserved holiday.

Jose seems to have made Chelsea overly cautious.

what do Chelsea fans think.

Not overly, I think about the right amount. We havent got a brilliant defence, so we need to be in games away to United, Arsenal, City, Liverpool etc to avoid getting torn apart. Other games might give the impression we are overly cautious but are more down to our poor strikers.

Liverpool will be a bigger test than Arsenal I feel. If it is not a draw hope you lot win it.

I really doubt Liverpool will finish top 4. Can't see them finish infront of us, City, Chelsea and Arsenal.
