ITS NEVER YOUR FAULT etc...

He seriously said Liverpool FELL short after his slip? Oh dear. Poor choice of words.

Look at the Liverpool fans queueing up to get a pic taken with a manager who's won a trophy this season. Cute

Amusing stat from the BBC..

"Liverpool had not conceded 50+ goals in a 38-game top-flight season since 1914-15"

Bit simplistic to believe that Liverpool will improve next season. Similar things were said after they finished 2nd in 08/09 season, won feck all since then,

I find it absolutely hilarious how it's assumed that they will be as good, if not better, next season. They won't get a chance like this to win the PL again, I would imagine.

I would be surprised if they finish better than third next season.

Inter, bayern and barca have won trebles recently. I feel ferguson had tougher opposition to overcome to win the double in 08 as the teams he faced in the league that year were also the best in Europe as seen by Chelsea getting to the final and pushing united to the final day in the league and also Liverpool getting to the semi final. From 06 to 09 there were three English teams in the semis every year so it showed how strong the league at the time was. That certainly was not the case in 98/99 as united were the only English team to get out of the group stage. For me personally the 07/08 season was a better achievement, but that's just me personally. I don't think anyone could argue the league was better back in 99 than it was in 08 though.
You're missing the whole point, it was a discussion about trophies won. 3>2 = 99>08.

It was a stupid discussion anyway.

It is incredible. Brenton really is just like Kevin Keegan. They've been found out at the end this year. Next year more teams will have his number. I'd be amazed if Liverpool are challenging for the title next year or even within a sniff come March

Chelsea will get a world class striker and be right up there. City will strengthen again, and we'll be back under LvG. They took advantage of turmoil at a few clubs this year, and they still didn't win it playing out of their skins all season. They'll be in a fight for 4th next season with Arsenal and us City and Chelsea will fight out the title.

I don't see why it's so weird to say their team will improve next season. Whether that means they finish higher or win something is another thing entirely.

Hang on. I'm a little late to see the interviews or read posts today but did Rodgers just say " we came second to the richest club in football"?
If he did then he's lost the plot a la FSW.
How dare he ignore Madrid. Im going into a meltdown here. Erm im not really sure if im doing this right but here goes. 9 times!!!! 32!!!!!!! Next year!!!
Y N W A. Oh sorry, I mean Hala Madrid. Or something.

We were supposed to improve last summer. Doesn't always work like that.

You mean just United. Just because we've managed to displace you in the top four I wouldn't say we've taken advantage of a host of clubs in 'turmoil' yeah because Arsenal, City and Chelsea were sacking managers left right and centre. Don't dare include Tottenham in this either, they were never going to achieve their target regardless of sacking AVB.

I think it's fair to say every team will attempt to improve next season. What I find interesting is folk speaking in absolutes. I wish I were so sure how United and all the other teams will fair.

What absolutes are you referring to?

Yep and this season is similar to that of 2009 when they came a close second to us only to fall back to seventh in 2010.

It isn't though. Different owners and there isn't an entire off the pitch battle being fought that's tearing supporters apart.

"WeGoAgain"and that ridiculous "Make me Dream" were probably the most annoying things outside the football about this season. Why do their fans always have to be so melodramatic about everything?

I always have hang ups about grouping all fans into one basket as football fans in general aren't all that different as much as we want to separate ourselves from others, but Liverpool fans are an exception. I've met too many of their fanbase that really are loony bins. RAWK with their poems is also one of the weirdest things on the internet.
