One things for sure, the big clubs always come back. I don't think anyone thought you'd stay out of at least the top 4 indefinitely.
Still don't see you ever winning the league though in these days of Chelsea and City's untold wealth. This was your big big chance. How many other times do three of the big boys change manager in the same season!?

People keep saying that, but the thing is, City & Chelsea both achieved more points than they did last season under their respective new managers. So in that respect, their new managers actually helped their cause.

I think Arsenal have the ability to do something too, but a lot will depend on whether they can avoid the annual injury crisis - unless Wenger changes something, it's likely they'll suffer the same fate as normal.

Hansen said on motd last night that liverpool's season has been a failure because it was in their hands with just 4 games to go. Harsh but you can understand his view. Those Liverpool players wouldn't have been upbeat after yesterday's game and congratulating each other on top 4. They'd have all been gutted.

This really was their big chance. I don't think it's quite sunk in yet.

Since they threw away the chance to boast about actually winning the league, the only alternative is boasting about the fact that we didn't want them to win it.

Didn't like everyone finish with more points though? I remember a stat towards 3/4 of the season showing that much more points had been distributed amongst teams, suggesting it wasn't only due to improvement but also to there being much less draws in the league.

I'd say top 3 is your utter glass ceiling next year. Just look at City's squad for goodness sake. In a year Aguero and Kompany missed plenty of games, in a season when Hart had all manner of screw ups. Imagine them if they really turn it on for the full season.

And Mourinho's boys could quite easily have won the league, despite having one of the worst stables of strikers ever seen for a top 3 team.

And this is presuming Van Gaal doesn't oversee a big improvement with us.

Suarez going would be a massive blow to say the least, will that happen? Not seen too much speculation yet, but there's time. Gerrard hasn't been as good as the hype would have it. Certainly nowhere near the level of Toure, a lot of romanticism went into the voting.

Hansen is quite funny. One minute saying "when" Gerrard lifts the trophy as if it was a given, then turning up in his best suit for the title party, then ripping them a new one.

He's right though. Forget the pre season target, when you basically just need a draw against a disinterested Chelsea team missing half their top players, and screw it up, my word, that's got to hurt for a long while.

Kompany and Aguero have missed plenty of games for the past two seasons. That suggests there's a pattern forming and it isn't just a one off.

They could of, but they didn't.

Gerrard has been excellent. Not to the level of Toure, but he's been by far and away the 3rd best midfielder in the league (I'd have Ramsey ahead of both even after just half a season).

Apparently Rodgers has won the league manager of the year award. Daniel Taylor reporting it. Pleased for him.

Coming second to the richest sports thing ever is something to be proud of. We played the right way, the Liverpool way, even when it seemed stupid to do so. We've given something for the fans to get really excited about this season, like taking candy from a baby."

That's a good call, he's been excellent for City, when he didn't play and they had to use that donkey Javi Garcia Yaya's performances suffered slightly. Fernandinho's performances in midfield have been key for City, very impressive especially for a guy in his first season in the PL!
 
Erm... Looks like Pulis has won it. Another near miss for Rodgers. (Guessing this is the main one?)
