The Dippers are chipper in this thread.
Let them enjoy their moment in the sun. Fact is, despite their best season in years, a tonne of goals, no distractions in other competitions, they completely fecked it up when it was in their own hands.
They're on here now, saying that it's been a great season, but deep down, they know they let it slip.
Next season, Chelsea and City will be right up there. United will benefit from no European participation and a top manager. I think Arsenal have the ability to do something too, but a lot will depend on whether they can avoid the annual injury crisis - unless Wenger changes something, it's likely they'll suffer the same fate as normal.
Liverpool will finish 5th.
Along with many united fan assumptions that everyone will get better and everything will be alright on the night for United except for us of course, Liverpool. Look, I'm pretty sure you won't have a disastrous season like the one you've just gone through, but this whole 'benefiting' thing from not being in Europe, just because it worked in our favour is not a given. Making comparisons with our team who carried momentum from the back end off the last season under a new manager that introduced younger players is far different from the state your squad is in.
Because we've finished 2nd, it's all of a sudden become set up for us to fail and we will feck off back into mediocrity in many united eyes. I'm not crystal balling anything here unlike some, but I expect us to be a stronger squad for next season and be at least challenging in the top four again. We may not be as close this time, but to suggest we will be out of top 4 completely is absurd. I think some attitudes may change in this thread come July if we sign some quality players, and then the evaluation can begin.
