Fire LVG and bring in Mourinho.

OK, OK, OK... he will mess things up in the second year. But in his first year he will win the league! At this point ... that's good enough!

120 minutes. 2 clear chances. Martial and fellaini.

Left to right to left to right to left to chip it in the box then back out to the halfway line rinse and repeat.

His philosophy hinges on waiting for the opposition to make a mistake. What happened to creating chances? Make your own luck. Don't die wondering.

He constantly talks about preparation and how well he prepares the players to get a result. Our opponents also prepare. They may not have 70 video analysts, but they work on a plan and have the same time period to work on it.

Did aitor karanka prepare better than van gaal then? He certainly won't say that. Always some bullshit excuse.

We are dull and tepid. Don't give me the fellaini makes us play long balls because he's not started much so it can't be him. When teams are so well organised you have to take risks. Ayala and gibson never once had to cover for full backs or vacate their space because we never asked questions of them or made them work. Everything was defending 101 for them.

Pretty much. The commentator was going nuts with his performance but it was pretty clear that we never tested him properly.

I've been saying all season that I would give him the season and if there is no improvement and we're still playing this shitty dull football with just about average results than I'd get rid. Even if we made top 4, I'd still get rid. There is no excuse for just how fecking boring we are.

We should be throwing every last bit of money we have at Pep and pleading with him to take over next Summer. Failing that go with Ancelotti. If we lost on Saturday I'd be severely tempted to get rid there and then but we should probably wait until the Summer.

Will LVG be gone before he has the courage to drop Rooney. How ironic would that be for the "self-proclaimed" big balls Van Gaal. His football is absolutely septic.

you know whats going to really piss me off!"?.............. if Van Gaal loses his job very soon instead of end of the year meaning we could of just got Klopp.

It's becoming very hard to keep believing in him. I guess you can point to our league position as evidence he's doing something right, but then again after the amount of money he's spent during his time here that's the least you'd expect. The football is mind numbingly boring and the results aren't even that good either. He constantly seems to make weird choices and his stubbornness with regards to Rooney is staggering. He complains about player fatigue after he himself trimmed the squad without adequate replacements. His reign seems poorly planned and directionless, other than turning us into a side obsessed with meaningless possession. Perhaps in a few years we'll look back on this and realize how he laid some important foundations but at the moment it's very hard to see.

He is saying in the press conference how proud he is of the players. Why can he not come out and say a majority of them didn't play well. Blaming the ref as well.

Been here long enough and I don't understand him or his philosophy or the "process" he keeps going on about. What process? We keep the ball better, Smalling has gotten better. We got Martial in and he has lifted the attack, but what else? We are better than last season, but we play awful football and we look so unlikely to score in so many games.

Said this so many times, but again, his in-game management is terrible. Poor subs, messes players about every 15 minutes. Plays Fellaini upfront and our best striker on the wing. What?

He's a good coach and would make a very good DoF, but I think we need more from a manager. He did well to fix the mess Moyes left behind, but if we don't improve, I would move him in the summer if someone like Pep is available.

He is starting to sound, dare I say it Moyes.
Not quite sure about that just yet. Wenger got slated for putting the boot in on the younger players after their performance last night so he can't really win in this situation. I would hope he is privately giving them all a bollocking though.

We'd be better with a few more star performers in attack. Herrera already gives us something extra when he plays in my opinion so with a few more bright players up there we'd be doing well, especially if we had a Robben like figure from the world cup. LVG is good at setting up his team to dominate and be a solid unit but it seems like he does rely on individuals to create going forward, rather than having any proper attacking plan. We aren't exactly stocked with top form, quality players in attack at the moment so this is the end result.

Obviously you lot cared more about the stupid league cup than Van Gaal.

Until match going fans make their feelings known about the awful style of football it will continue. I'm at the stage now where I don't care if he stays or goes.

United home and away fans have started chanting ''attack, attack, attack'' on several occasions because of the displeasure of watching side ways fecking passing.

Last 6 games in all comps

City - 96 shots - 20 goals
Arsenal - 86 shots - 12 goals
West Ham - 93 shots - 12 goals
United - 60 shots - 6 goals
Leicester - 103 shots - 10 goals
Spurs - 82 shots - 13 goals
Palace - 86 shots - 9 goals

It's been in random isolation. Not enough for it really to have conveyed the feeling among the support. I like that Utd fans generally don't voice their disaster in great numbers at games but I think a point needs to be made that fans are not happy with what they're paying to watch.

Meh, I'm not that bothered by how shite we're playing.

LVG was ultimately a short term appointment designed to drag us from the chaos of the Moyes reign and into a strong position for the next guy to take over. By that criteria he's working out quite well given that we're going to be challenging for the title this season.

There's a job that needs to be done in the short term and he's doing it. I'm happy to put up with crap football in this situation. He'll probably only be here for another season and a half anyway, this is a temporary thing. Best to look at it in that light.

If he stops getting the results that matter then sure, he becomes a problem. Right now we're just two points off the top of the table though, so.....

I'd say it's less about the league cup an more another two hours spent watching the team and huff and puff their way through the game with no attacking threat against a far lesser team than ours.

This.

Somebody should just remind Van Gaal of the objectives he must respect. Either the manager picks himself up or the CEO above will fire his sorry fecking ass.

I think it is imperative we change the manager at the end of the season regardless, letting him have a final year knowing he is retiring is not going to motivate players to play for him or encourage new players to sign for a manager who is going, not to mention the utter shite he is producing given he has been given complete control. I think the "result" tonight has woken a few up, but this type of performance has been going on continuously, we play the same way against city as against Middlesbrough at home, fecked up, I think most fans are looking at the league table are holding back, that will change cos we are not going to last there. In an extremely cautious "philosophy", Smalling has been holding it together as our best player, we should be attacking more, committing more players forward, that sounds like traditional United fan speak but to a degree you could understand if it was a necessary shift in modern football tactics, but it is not producing the required results either. It seems to be more about lvg current beliefs, cos he wasn't always a boring bastard, rather than Manchester United's culture and tradition, which is contrary to what he said when he signed.

Why would he lose his job? We're one of the three best teams in the league and look on course to comfortably finish in the top 4 whilst beating some good teams already this season.

Source?

He's been given a quarter of a billion pounds and three years. I think we're expecting a bit more than that.

Nothing new here. People expect us to play better football suddenly, it wont happen anyway. Van Gaal wont change his tactics/philosophy. Everton didnt turn up and we had to forget the Arsenal defeat and win. Once a team turns up with decent organisation and a bit of fight, we look clueless as a team. And if your experienecd players turn into shit or dont care anymore, there is nothing to do on top of that predictable and easy to defend passing and possession borefest. Not dropping Rooney for so long is a sackable offence in itself. Guardiola or Ancelotti in the summer.

He's lucky he came after Moyes. If he'd been after Fergie he'd be long gone. Another shit-show and another game where his golden boy and best captain ever has been the wort player on the pitch. I'd be sounding out a replacement now.
