Van Gaal needs to be shown the door before he does more damage.

Is Ancelotti available?

he's the manager. he picks the training regime , formation , team and transfers. better at not conceding goals but miles from being any good. he could leave and i truly think we'd be better off.

His tactics and style of play are cowardly, which goes against everything he did at Ajax.

I'm starting to see why he's not actively liked by Barcelona and Bayern fans.

I've been his biggest supporter but if Ancelotti or Pep is available in the summer, we could do well to move on. Did his job stabilizing the club after the Moyes nightmare but clearly the team's reached its ceiling under his guidance.

Defensively he is fine, it's the attack he needs to sort out. He had today Lingard, Martial, Depay, Rooney, three of those are still adapting to their new roles. I think it's a little early to be concluding this attack is the best it's going to be especially considering his history.

We win at the weekend and everybody is happy again.
No. People are complaining about our brand of football whether we win or lose. This is more about style than results. We're just unwatchable at the moment.

I can understand it in the last 10 minutes but 55th odd minutes on? Madness.
Schweini played whole games on Saturday and it is clear he can't play 2 full games in one week so we need to sub him. Sadly because of the injuries to Herrera and Carrick Fellaini was the only option.

But i agree we were shit after that sub and when Depay came off. You look at Depay's rating today on this side - 4 but he always tried to do something and he created a few opportunities.

It's not the first time that we play without intensity, it's not the first time that we play without intent. Nothing changes we are desperately useless offensively, it was the case last season, it's the case this season and the only thing that hasn't changed is Van gaal, he is useless, we might fluke a PL but it won't be because of him.

What kind of coach managed to spent 18 months not able to instill an ounce of intensity and drive in the attack? He is either doing it on purpose or he is useless.

If you don't take a risk you won't lose the ball, that's his defensive paradigm. Ofcourse there are clubs that can manage both and deliver a proper performance but this lot ain't one of them. I'm unsure how much of that could be attributed to the manager alone.

No, we'll slightly pardon this game but our dour performances don't go forgotten. It's all well and good being competitive in the league, but if we crash out of the CL in this group after playing this style of football the fans won't be happy.

I have been losing confidence in LVG this season and tonight is another good example.

I am one of the biggest Fellaini defenders on here, but it was a terrible decision to bring him on tonight. Furthermore and even more annoying is that this season, as soon as Fellaini has been coming on, he has either been played as a DM, or stuck up front with no proper service, but rather is just expected to do something with 60 yard balls from deep.

Its not just about Fellaini by any means though. Watching some of the other European teams makes me see just how far behind we are in an attacking sense. Im not just talking about the likes of Barca and Bayern, but teams like Arsenal and Liverpool are simply miles ahead of us when it comes to creativity, style of play, attractiveness and general attacking prowess. Watching United at the moment is like watching the worst things about Pep's Barcelona team, and taking out the star quality that Messi, Xavi, Iniesta etc bring to it.

We played some great football last season with a proper 4-3-3, but this season switched to a 4-2-3-1 which - as was obvious right from the start - does not suit any of our midfielders. The formation is wrong, the tactics are wrong and the substitutions are wrong. LVG has had a very easy ride so far, with a lot of leniency - but there comes a point where he has to be held accountable. We have spent a huge amount of money since he came to the club, and he has to be judged on results and performances this season, and so far the performances are not up to scratch, and the results are borderline.

They do, but a poor result lends itself to the idiots that are desperate to call for the head of the manager mid season.

Slight overreaction happening because of those shocking last 40 minutes, we created 4-5 great chances and should really have wrapped up the game early. That obviously doesn't take away from the fact that we were incredibly bad in the last 40.

If he goes out of the group and shows little sign of progress in the league I'd be tempted to show him the door in the summer. Ancelloti won't be available that long and we know he's leaving at the end of the third season. So we may as well give a longer term manager a crack at the job.

His team are producing performances about as inspiring as his own, rooted to the technical area. All game. Every game. Hard not to wonder if the two are related.

They've got good right to be angry or upset if we crash out of the group. I'm not happy tonight either. That doesn't negate other positives.

When the alternative is Fellaini and the other midfielder already on the pitch is anyway not great on the ball he simply has to be kept on the pitch. At least till the latter stages of the game. Especially when Carrick and Herrera aren't available.

His fans keep saying that the next manager will have a good basis to build on and we'll be much better for the work he's done. It's time to accelerate that process.

We are near the top of the league as other teams are playing poorly and we have been lucky in games. We are struggling with form and have potency in attack.

We are near the top of the league because we deserve to be there. All of the top teams have major issues, not just United.

Giggs and Scholes, I say. Managerial dream team. Phil Neville first team coach.

This would be the worst thing to do:
Getting knocked out at the group stage, finishing 3rd/4th in the league, no cup trophys BUT going with van Gaal for another season while missing out on Ancelotti and Pep in the summer. Would pretty much kill me inside.

If I could change my vote I'd sack him now. Whats the point in carrying on, its clear the kind of football he wants to play. It's not what we want to see.

Worrying really. The fact that this is probably the best we're going to get under LVG makes me think we should be looking elsewhere.

It's not the best we are going to get. I thought it was sensible the line up he chose, I did think though Martial, Depay and Lingard would perform better, this happens sometimes especially with young players.

Three of our attacking four are still adapting to the premier league, one of the two behind them also and the other to a new club. According to Ferguson at the start of the season, he said it's going to take time for the new signings to adjust, I think he's right.

Sorry, but I can't wait until this guy is sacked! To play so defensively, at home, against PS fecking V Eindhoven is pathetic. We owed them a thumping for Luke Shaw and we let him down badly!

Every word Savage said tonight grated on my soul but mostly because the majority of what he said was true.

Slow, aimless play
2 holding midfielders … really necc. Louie? … for PSV?
No-one really "properly" pressing (like they mean it)
NO ONE TAKING THE MAN IN FRONT OF HIM ON
just pass sideways, pass back, pass sideways, pass back with no momentum or intelligent movement off the ball

And the worst … Rooney and Young ending up at LB & RB while Fellaini is stuck up front having a mare

Can't wait to see the back of LvG I don't care even if we win the league this season it won't be because he's "won" it for us, if it happens it'll only be because everyone else lost it!

We're still 2nd in the league. That keeps me excited about this season.

We're having hiccups here and there but are clearly better than last year. We do need an established world class attacker this winter or next summer. Once that happens we will be hard to beat.

I've said I've wanted him gone before, that I was fed up and that hasn't changed.

What annoyed me more than is probably reasonable tonight was again him sitting on his arse jotting down notes instead of getting up and trying to direct anything! Rooney as captain is never going to organise the team the reason he is captain is because he is the highest profile player at the club but a team captain he is not. There was no leadership out there.

fecks sake Louis talk to your players during the game not wait till half time or afterwards!

Once again it was dull shit that entire second half!
