Would you lot start him against Real Madrid? Could create something out of nothing but he tends to give the ball away in trying that -- a counter attack could decide the tie.
It was a poor Fulham side and his performance was satisfactory. Lets not get carried away
Has any player ever split the Caf as much as Nani?
I can see the benefits of a fit and on form Nani, on his day he can be unplayable, it's the "on his day" bit I struggle with though, I'm not talking about today cos as we all know he's just working his way back, I'm talking about his overall time at our club, and with that in mind the "on his day" times have been too few for me.
Some people seem to have an agenda against Nani, thought he had a good game considering he's just back from a lengthy lay off,
Looked a threat every time he got the ball, I find people whinging about his attitude in the match day thread quite confusing.
Great contribution to the thread mate.
Well he was consistently brilliant from the start of 2010 to about March 2011, and then from august 2011 to whenever he got injured (December 2011?). That's like 2 years where he was consistently one of our best players, and since then he's had loads of injuries and hasn't really been able to get a run of form going (partially because Valencia was brilliant in the second half of last season). Now that the positions on the wings are there for the taking I really have hope that Nani will step up and go back to his brilliant best, because for those 2 years he was probably in the top 3 wingers in the world.
He definitely doesn't look like a player that wants out. He worked hard tonight and against West Ham.hope I am wrong...honest.
He has amazing abilities. but can be terribly frustrating. More importantly I think he wants out.
He's had a very good game today.
I may be slightly biased, but after watching that game, would anyone really pick one of our other wingers ahead of him, I mean fecking hell, at least he does something when he gets the ball, and that's after barely playing for two months.
He is the best winger we've got right now, but by United standards the others are quite average.
you know we signed him in 2007?
I said overall in his career with us.
Last season we apparently had the best set of wingers in the world.
I don't think you understand football.

Easily, on form he is our best winger by a mile and he usually plays well against spanish teams from memory. Plus his speed and ability on the break would be invaluable for us. Also think he'd be well up for a game against them.
Based on what? This argument about Nani is a fecking joke! I think the player is great and I love him playing for United, however, if he plays bad, I am not going to don my tinted specs and start making excuses for him.
He got the ball loads today and did SFA with it. Near the end, he pulled off a great move on the left where he knocked it passed the full back and used his pace to get around him. Outside of that, he was largely wasteful and disappointing with the ball. Why is it that when somebody like Carrick plays bad he is lambasted but when Nani plays bad he is 'tired', or 'rusty' or some sort of bullshit?
Nani is a class player who is continuously inconsistent. He was not good today..it's as simple as that
he was awful in the first half...improved in the second.
almost always made the worst decision.
I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt....I hope he signs a new contract...because at his best he is some player.
I'd have to disagree. I think he would be a liability against Madrid at this moment. We need to stack the midfield and match their three with three of our own. Diamond all the way against the Spaniards IMO

I hope he signs up too. AT his best, he is a dream to have. This was not my point though...he was not good today. I need to stress the 'today' part because this is what I am referring to.

We signed him as a young promising winger, and he was decent but inconsistent for a few years, and then he was easily world class for two years. He's always been a very productive player, despite many people being frustrated by his decision making over the years. Like all wingers, he goes through patches of good and bad form and not many wingers are very consistent with their delivery. Especially players like Nani who try many different things, unlike a player like Bale or Valencia, who basically always do the same thing over and over.
Overall he's been a very good player for us, maybe not what some expected though. I am honestly a little disappointed that he didn't kick on from his great form early last season, but he did have a lot of injuries since then and not many chances to get a good run in the side.

I'm afraid I watched the same game as Gaeilge. Although Nani had a good couple of touches, I don't think he really did anything of any note. I do remember a couple of times where he tried to shoot instead of passing it, and I have to say it annoyed me as I didn't at the time think there was a shot on.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not coming on here bashing Nani, as I actually like him and would like nothing more for him to sign a new contract. I just feel he wasn't up to anything like his best, and by his standards, he certainly didn't play well IMO.
